You still have to get a permit and go through background checking, I obtained my first permit in 2003 in Illinois. I used to own 7 but sold 4 now I only have 3. One in the house, one in my car they are handguns. My newly bought AR-15 is mainly for when I go to the range place. I just can't imagine going out of the house without my gun.
