Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by AntiChristian: 9:33am On Jul 16 |
Jesus says he didn't come to abolish the Law and the Prophets Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17 Paul says Christ is the end of the law For Christ is the end of the law, to bring righteousness to everyone who believes. Romans 10:4 by abolishing in His flesh the law of commandments and decrees. He did this to create in Himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace. Ephesians 2:15 |
Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by SIRTee15: 12:33pm On Jul 17 |
Christ fulfilled the law by changing it and replacing it with the law of grace which is the new covenant. Jesus told the young rich man if he wants to attain eternal life he has to follow him. It's not enough to obey the commandment. When Jesus was on earth he changed the law of Sabbath....everyday is Sabbath He changed the law of divorce...not permitted except in adultery. He changed the law of marriage union....it's a union btw one man and one woman. He changed the law of retribution...love those who hate U and pray for those who despise U. He redefined what murder and adultery is....it's a sin commited from the heart not an action. Jesus changed the law of food requirements by declaring all food clean. U can eat pork, camel foot or whatever. Jesus declared the mosaic law obsolete and restored God's original law back to mankind. A law written on the heart and not on stone- the law of grace. The mosaic law was a temporary law given to Jews because of their hard heartedness. It wasn't meant to be followed forever. Jesus said 'Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning'. God himself said in the book of Jeremiah Jeremiah 31:33 33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the LORD: I will put my law within them, and I will write it ton their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jesus brought a new covenant that rendered the old one inconsequential. Those still following the old covenant no longer follow God. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. Mat 26.28 Unfortunately for Muslims, Muhammed never heard of the new covenant or prophet Jeremiah. He simply told Muslims to continue with the mosaic law thereby derailing his followers the path of truth. 1 Like |

SIRTee15:This is false. Where did he state it like this? Jesus told the young rich man if he wants to attain eternal life he has to follow him. It's not enough to obey the commandment.Obeying the Prophet of God is part of God's commandment. The people of Noah and Moses did obey them hence they were saved from the flood and Pharoah respectively! When Jesus was on earth he changed the law of Sabbath....everyday is SabbathSo with this Jesus lied that he did not came to abolish the law right? He changed the law of divorce...not permitted except in adultery.Changed it from what to what? He changed the law of marriage union....it's a union btw one man and one woman.Where was "one man" and "one woman" specifically mentioned by Jesus? Jesus never addressed Polygamy but divorce! He changed the law of retribution...love those who hate U and pray for those who despise U.So with this Jesus lied that he did not came to abolish the law right? He redefined what murder and adultery is....it's a sin committed from the heart not an action.Who defined murder before for him to change it? Show us the definitions? Jesus changed the law of food requirements by declaring all food clean. U can eat pork, camel foot or whatever. So with this Jesus lied that he did not came to abolish the law right? Jesus declared the mosaic law obsolete and restored God's original law back to mankind. A law written on the heart and not on stone- the law of grace.Where did Jesus explicitly state this? The mosaic law was a temporary law given to Jews because of their hard heartedness. It wasn't meant to be followed forever. So in short Jesus lied by saying: Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Matthew 5:17 Your claim is that he did abolished some laws! 1 Like |

AntiChristian: Christ didn't abolish any law, instead he CHANGED THE LAW. CHRISTIANS STILL NEED TO FOLLOW THE LAW BUT NOT THE MOSAIC LAW. antichristian English is your problem. Go and learn the difference btw change and abolish. 1 Like |

SIRTee15: So he didn't abolish the law before changing it? Is changing the law not abolishing it? When the 1999 Constitution was enacted it abolished all previous constitutions! Were those previous constitutions not changed and adjusted to what we have in 1999? |

AntiChristian:you inserted abolish there yourself. Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Jesus didn't say abolish. |

Steep: That's Bible versions for you! (katalysai) Greek means to loosen down, i.e. to demolish; specially to halt for the night. New International Version “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. New Living Translation “Don’t misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. English Standard Version “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Berean Standard Bible Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them. Berean Literal Bible Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish, but to fulfill. King James Bible Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. New King James Version “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. New American Standard Bible “Do not presume that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. |
Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by StillDtruth: 4:24pm On Jul 17 |
SIRTee15: Why are talking rubbish? How you do you fulfill a law eg thou shalt not commit adultery by changing it? Secondly, before you thought that Jesus wiped out The Commandment until i showed you He Said "keep the Commandments" to the young rich man and now, here you are still bending it again to suit your lies. For, lo did you not see Christ say to the young rich man he should obey the commandments? Yes, the young man said he kept it, now looking at Christ's response, did you.not see that He was surprised by that and therefore, He looked to see the man's problem? Now from Christ's response do you not see that the man's problem is his attachment to the world aka love for his riches? And clearly by his refusa and difgiculty to let go of his riches, does that not show and prove that he loved riches more than God? And what is the first Commandment? You are even lying against Christ for He clearly said "I CAME TO CHANGE NOT ONE JOT"! yet you say He changed it. 1 Like 1 Share |

AntiChristian:Those are translation that could be wrong, the most correct interpretation is destroy, which is what kjv used. Katalysai means to destroy. You have even destroyed your argument by bringing the Greek word. |

Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by Steep(m): 5:18pm On Jul 17 |
AntiChristian:what does that have to do with the interpretation of katalysai? Jesus didn't destroy the law rather he fulfilled it, meaning he satisfied the requirements of the law so those who believes in him do not need to fulfill the law for their justification. 1 Like |

AntiChristian: Good U brought this up Now the 1999 constitution didn't abolish the constitution. Nigerians still have a Constitution we follow. What 1999 constitution did was to change our constitution and rendered the previous military edicts obsolete. 1999 CONSTITUTION IS THE NEW CONSTITUTION WE NOW HAVE TO FOLLOW. In 1999 the constitution was changed but not abolished. Jesus did the same thing with the Law. Pls learn the difference btw abolish and change. 1 Like |

SIRTee15: Did english not teach you paraphrase and subject matter? You clearly got the point of mathew 5:18 so now the qiestiom is you said "Christ fulfilled the law by changing it and replacing it. How did He filfill The Law of Sabbath, marriage, divorce etc.? and are these examples you gave changes? Are they not common sense explanatiipn of The operation and reach of The Law? |
Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by StillDtruth: 9:11am On Jul 18 |
SIRTee15: You are still talking rubbish. Is it a constitition that abolishes or makes a constitution? Abolish is a change! |
Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by AntiChristian: 10:00am On Jul 18 |
SIRTee15: Abolish: Means to formally put an end to something, such as a system, practice, or institution. Implies the complete removal or elimination of something. Often involves getting rid of a specific thing entirely without replacing it with an alternative. Abolish vs Change In Nigeria, the 1999 constitution did not abolish the previous constitutions but rather replaced them. Abolish: Abolishing a constitution would mean completely doing away with it and having no replacement or succeeding document. In the case of Nigeria, the 1999 constitution did not abolish the previous constitutions in the sense of completely eliminating them without any replacement. Change: The 1999 constitution brought about significant changes to the legal framework in Nigeria by replacing the previous constitutions. It introduced new provisions, structures, and governance mechanisms, thereby altering the constitutional landscape of the country. Therefore, it would be more accurate to say that the 1999 constitution in Nigeria replaced the previous constitutions rather than abolishing them. In the light of this i think Jesus lied he did not come to abolish the law! |
Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by Steep(m): 10:38am On Jul 18 |
AntiChristian:Do you now see that abolish and destroy though similar do not mean the same. Jesus fulfillment of the law is satisfying all the requirement of it after which it was abolished. |
Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by SIRTee15: 11:47am On Jul 18 |
AntiChristian: na illiteracy dey worry u. abolish- do away with, end it. change- replace. The law didn't start with the mosaic law, there was law and commandment b4 the mosaic law. THE LAW/COMMANDMENT ALWAYS EXISTED RIGHT FROM THE GARDEN OF EDEN AND WILL REMAIN FOREVER. Jesus did not abolish the law. We still have the law. THE LAW CAN NEVER BE ABOLISHED. Jesus changed the Law by replacing the mosaic law with something better. CHRIST REPLACED THE LAW BY FULFILLING THE OLD LAW AND REPLACING IT WITH THE NEW COVENANT AS PROMISED BY GOD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT. It's the mosaic law that's been abolished NOT THE LAW. 1 Like |

SIRTee15: So when Jesus stopped stoning Adulterers, he didn't abolish (do away with) that law? What did he change it to? |
Re: Jesus Vs Paul 2 - The Law And The Prophets! by SIRTee15: 12:32pm On Jul 18 |
AntiChristian: stoning adulterers is a mosaic law, that law is now done away with. Jesus changed it to the Law of grace- the 2 greatest commandments. I think we going round in circles now. if u think mosaic law is has always been the law, then u better start reading the old testament books again. 1 Like |
