Those countries that brought Western Education to Nigeria do not have age restrictions on admission to higher institutions. The Jihadists of Nigeria who decry Western Education in Nigeria are gaining upper hands. Western Education is Haram.

Generally, how many footballers have the privilege to rep their Senior team in any Major comp at 18, even Messi wasnt called up till 2006 and he wasnt under-18 then

Good Call by Jamb cheesy

What is the correlation of this with the news?

The annual policy meeting is held to authorise the commencement of admission into tertiary institutions in the country and adopt certain admission benchmarks.

The meeting is chaired by the Education Minister, Professor Tahir Mamman

This is why the revolutionary protest on 1st
Aug is a MUST to reset the country towards economic improvement.

JAMB had in 2017 introduced the Central Admissions Processing System where all tertiary institutions upload the admission status of candidates offered admission in the institutions.

CAPS has centralised and automated admission processes between candidates and their chosen tertiary institutions.

that's how it should be. Back in those days, 18yrs was the right age. You leave secondary school at 17yrs, primary school at 11yrs and nursery school at 6yrs
Back in the days is not these days. I think this is archaic at best. In the West, some 20-year-olds are already college graduates. Here we probably try for JAMB for a few years. Then we deal with long strikes for 4-5 year courses and a labor market that wants graduate trainee applicants who are 24-year-olds and through with youth service.
As long as a teen, especially a gifted one, can reliably meet the academic requirement for admission, we shouldn't let the dinosaurs hold us back with their colonized African mindset.

A few confused, senseless bunch of people!
It is totally stupid to say a 16 or 17 year old student who has [assed all his/her exams including JAMB should not be offered admission and such person must re-write the same exams when he is 18 years old , when there is no guarantee for automatic admission.
People are obtaining PhD at age 23-25years in more progressive countries, while we are here supprressing the pace of progress of people.
Enter university at 18 plus 6 or 7 years due to ASUU strike, plus 1 year of NYSC. You come out at 25 years and then you go for masters because jobs are scarce. You attend interviews and they say they are looking for 22-25 year old graduates
Re: No More Admissions Into Higher Institutions For Persons Below 18 Years - FG by udeh3(m): 12:06pm On Jul 18
Then, you must not be more than 25yrs with atleast 2yrs experience to getting a job. Issorite

JAMB has been under the leadership of a Prof of Islamic Studies since Buhari administration.
Ministry of Education headed by another Islamic Mullah.

Buhari left a possible 24 years of Muslim presidency for Nigeria. Buhari 8yrs, Tinubu 8yrs, Tinubu's VP 8yrs. This is the method through which the Taliban of Afghanistan started and finally got total control of Afghan government, imposed Sharia criminal justice system upon Afghanistan.
One of the earliest demands of Tanko Mohammed appointed CJN by President Buhari was for inclusion of Sharia criminal justice system in Nigeria's constitution.
Re: No More Admissions Into Higher Institutions For Persons Below 18 Years - FG by MossadAgent: 12:08pm On Jul 18
That's because 18 is the legal limit to entering financial agreement.

This student loan thing is a curse from Satan.

How can our children be indebted before they start working and earning a wage ?

Tinubu should rescind this Jewish slave usury debt.

Every society has the moral obligation to educate and train the future generation.

Reform our universities and get rid of irrelevant courses.

Let the universities be fully subsidised and only open to the best of the best students and lectures.

The universities are all breeding ground for cultists , prostitutes and scammers.

Make the entry process only for those derserving.

Let the scammers , cultists and prostitutes return to the streets where they belong.

Prune the university courses and get rid of useless courses and lecturers and mandate every university to offer a letter of guarantee on the qualification and skills of their candidates.

Enough. This student loan thing is only perculiar to the judified US and should never be replicated here.

Nigeria has been cut off from the rest of the world, we're developing backwards.

Why the rush to university? Parents choose courses for their children just to satisfy their ego and they end up graduating as quacks or worse, not interested in their discipline. It is not as if there are many jobs waiting for them on graduation.

Stop rushing children into adulthood, it's irresponsible

In the so called saner climes, what is the age benchmark for University entry?

Now the govt must make sure no more strike and 4 years = 4 years.

By the time your children think of finishing Uni (with no carry over), NYSC, finding a job and deciding to Japa, they are already 30 years old!

There they will start competing with younger Oyinbos that did not fritter their lives away with stupid policies.

The people that entered Uni at 16, did they die, or fail?

I know people that got into Medical School at 15 and are today Consultants!

Away with crass nonsense please.

Cutting Nigeria off from the rest of the world is a design by Nigeria's Islamists who are using government institutions for Jihad to get an Islamic Republic of Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system.

They are crippling everyone in Nigeria because of political disunity between the people of the old Southwest and old Southeast regions.

Universities elsewhere use their discretion to admit students, no age restrictions.

The Policy Council is not a law making body. The Senate should immediately call them to order before a court pronouncement cancel all the admission into tertiary institutions for this year.

Candidates have already chosen universities, registered for JAMB and sat for the exams based on the minimum age requirements of each university and JAMB law can not prescribe age limits for universities. This policy can not take a retroactive effect and should be put on hold until like next year when new candidates will choose to sit for JAMB and choose tertiary institutions based on the age advertised by each institution.

The JAMB law is what needed to be reviewed first. The policy Council should recommend such review to the National Assembly not usurping the role of Legislature and making its pronouncement a law.
