Re: No More Admissions Into Higher Institutions For Persons Below 18 Years - FG by wallrichy: 1:39pm On Jul 18 |
Exactly, That ain't progressive policy at all. That's like killing the talents of our youngsters. Do they mean that if I have a genius child and already done with the syllabus of secondary school before attaining 14 Yrs of age and even passed WAEC with tip grades. I should just keep him in the house or push him to go learn handwork. Anyway, thank God for online universities abroad and even in Nigeria. The only wahala would be NYSC but who cares about NYSC! If you have the money please send your child or children to school abroad. These dirty politicians are really bent in killing any hope left in Nigerians.....The stupid people could as well raise the cut off marks for admission into Universities, stop the quota nonsense and raise the pass mark to make students work harder while at the same time allowing Genius child to have their way. This is bad policy. Their children are in Europe and America. Instead of increading the age they should raise the cut.of to 280 or 300. |

I got admission into the Uni at 15, thank God Nigeria was ruled by brainiacs not like this local people who struggled for years to gain admission. I believe this is just borne out of envy, there is no reason for this edict |

Vision101: No we have problems in the unis cos Nigerian parents no longer buy their children books to read in primary school. They no longer have libraries in their homes with books in various disciplines and subjects. I read things fall apart while still in primary school my father kept all his old books, novels, literature, magazines etc on some big shelves. That made me sharp and smart and more intelligent than my peers. That's why we have so many graduates who cannot speak good English these days. 2 Likes |

Beremx:Apt. You need to see the 16 year olds in 100 level in universities. They are the ones that party, club, fight, living couple lives. I remember when 4 boys were killed in port Harcourt some years back over false accusation of robbery. The boys were 17 and below. The 20+ students are calmer. Live quietly in their apartments. From lectures to their side hustles. Pay off lecturers and students for assignments and tests. You rarely notice them. They mind their business |

This fake moniker is very fresh. Just 2 weeks old. Who knows the older moniker we will have known him by! One of the ways you can quickly identify an APC Ur...n is how quickly they support ANY and every policy by anybody in APalC govt. Never do they have anything negative to say about any APC policy. To make matters worse, they are so daft that they will defend a bad policy then when the policy is reversed after an outcry - they will still come online and defend the reversal. Zombies have transferred from UK and US to Nigeria. Chaii CyrusVI: |

abobote: A wise parent will not call this law stupid. Why not enrol ur child to learn a trade/skill. Some thing u carefully observe he or she has passion for and can add value to lives and earn money. By the time he or she goes to the University at 18, they are already ahead of their contemporaries. You may even realize they are already making their own money. At 22,23 or 24 depending on their course of study, they are done; NYSC 25. They will rather be proud of u than they rush to the University at 14, graduate at 18; NYSC 19. Goes to the labour market, find a job to manage for like 10yrs or so. Now they are 29. Finally gets a job -Federal government, to be paid 127k; wow!!! permanent and pensionable. Work for 31 yrs and retired to a life of pension. Pls plan a better future for ur kids than what you think you have now. |

blowjohn: Then the problem should be from who rushed you to finish at 16. Adulthood nd it's responsibility in Nigeria constitution starts at 18 yrs. You'll need to attend such age to be qualified as adult with independent mind. Higher institutions are meant for adults. This whole rush has messed the education system so bad. Underage children been exposed to vices of peer pressure. Cultism on the high. All the know is to join anything or be influenced to anything just to blend.majority of them forgets their purpose of being in the university. They make so many mistakes and are naive. So many regrets they couldn't have if they were exposed or know more to stand on their personal principle before getting into higher school Education can't be rushed, age plays a whole lots In maturity and its all a process. Married adults, old singles and old adults attends same learning environment. Take a look at post graduate students and how old the often are.it's all about the process one at a time .no rush. It's called personal development and not affected by age. People of 50 yr 48yrs are doing second to other degrees, their head or brain didn't block after long yrs of first degree. All that they're more exposed and matured to accomodate more wisdom nd knowledge as they mature up. The same second degrees would have been heavy on them and their brains if they had embarked on it or rushed it after first degrees. Brain development works with age |

BigDawsNet: your own post is countering itself and if you are truly educated and the intelligence you would have noticed it without me pointing it out to you.. digital skills and other skills are also learned in primary and secondary school and if you don't know that then you attended a below par primary and secondary school... |

CyrusVI: Good call you said. In that case, age restrictions for entry level by banks and private employers should be outlawed or even criminalized. At 18, some courses require 5 academic calendar years before graduation. The mandatory NYSC will require another year, not to talk about the incessant strike by both academic and non-academic staff. Upon graduation, employers will now be looking for someone at the age of 22 with 5 years on the job experience. So, how is that a good call? |

U manage to enter school at age 18 that's if you lucky to pass jamb and waec on time, then you enter the school, ASUU strike will delay you and waste your time before you will now go for NYSC Tufiakwa naija like going backwards honestly. |
Re: No More Admissions Into Higher Institutions For Persons Below 18 Years - FG by Anonimoux: 3:42pm On Jul 18 |
At least 16 years of age is the minimum nothing less. So that by 20 you are out already. |

codemaniacs: Sorry bro… I wasn’t countering myself and I’m equally not a Gen Z… I was in early school over 3 decades ago and we don’t have resources for deep skill learning, even my little siblings that left high school over 13years ago wasn’t introduced to any serious basic skills…. I can confidently tell you I attended one of the top10 most expensive high school in Lagos at the time… Maybe the new age school have Skills program for students? I don’t know! I’m just saying based on my own experience |

BigDawsNet: schools had computer classes in the 90s and if you truly attended one of the top10 most expensive high school in Lagos then your school should have had a computer lab so again your posts are countering what you claim and you still don't have the intelligence to see it... please return your certificate... it seems the only thing they taught you is how to read and write english nothing more |
