The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, said on Thursday a new curriculum would be introduced for secondary schools nationwide by September 2024.

Tahir made this known at the ongoing 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board policy meeting in Abuja.

We are working hard to ensure that a new curriculum is introduced for secondary schools by September,” Mamman said.

Mamman noted that the exercise has been on for the past year and a stakeholders meeting will be held on August 6, 2024.

It is our plan that by September, this programme will be implemented in all schools, public and private,” the minister said.

Recently, the National Senior Secondary School Education Commission decried the deplorable state of senior secondary schools in the country and called for collaboration to overcome some of the challenges bedevilling the secondary level of education in the country.

The commission listed some of the challenges confronting the sector, including infrastructural deficit, unqualified teachers, obsolete curriculum, and deplorable libraries and laboratories.

It was also noted that plans were ongoing to introduce a new curriculum.

That's nice. You should change it to period (.) and not comma (,) before you start the second sentence.

All this clamor about new curriculum is exaggerated. The last time I checked the subjects offered in secondary school, I saw subjects like Marketing, Fisheries etc that are too specific at that level, and mostly not practicable. Tell me how many schools have a fish farm!
What I feel is needed is updating the textbooks due to advancement in knowledge although the basics remain the same. Technical education should be emphasised

The time table is jam-packed, students now offer about 14 subjects in secondary school and they will register only 9 subjects for WASSCE and NECO. Civic education, marketing, animal husbandry. They overwork the brain of these students. In Civic Education, if u are able to master these topics: drug abuse, cultism, HIV/AIDS (from SS1 to 3) u will have a distinction in WASSCE and NECO. Just about 4 or 5 topics.

Please include sex Education ( practicals and theory) and Masturbation.

Also include The Advantages of Marrying a Virgin and The Disadvantages of Marrying a Non Virgin Woman

Never marry a woman you did not disvirgin. It does not make sense to sponsor wedding ceremony, pay bride price and take care of in-laws just to have a woman who was fvcked and mounted by another man with just two eggs and indomie.
When you make your money, find a young virgin woman and marry. Don't suffer to make money and still marry leftover.

Civic Education is perhaps one of the most useless subjects still existing in secondary schools today. History inclusive

Let them continue running away from history because of their evils against Biafrans. The oral transmission continues to preserve the account

Whatever they plan to introduce, they should take out these jargons from our school history:

1. Mary slessor stopped the killing of twins in Nigeria :
They should stop making our colonial masters heroes. They did worse in their own places, the Vikings offered virgins as sacrifices, the Mayans slaughtered people for sacrifices, the whites even burnt people on stakes for witchcraft and epilepsy.
Stop making Africans look like savages, it was not all over Nigeria but just a small clan in south south.

2nd: Mongo park discovered river Niger!!! Really?? Please stop this, stop making your colonial masters heroes and making Africans look like fools..

3rd: stop making colonial masters look like heroes in history !!! Please stop it!!

4th: we all need to know better about Berlin conference . Please teach it well! Let us know the beginning of our problem are these white European colonial bastardds that came to divide Africa like pizza for their selfish reasons. Let people ask the fundamental questions why Nigeria an English speaking country is surrounded by French speaking countries and why next to French speaking countries are English speaking countries.
Why people of different ideologies were joined together like rice and beans so things will never work
