The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has expressed deep concern over Nigerians’ severe economic hardships.

His comments came during a ceremony for the distribution of free fertiliser to 52,800 smallholder farmers across Kano State’s 44 local government areas on Thursday.

Addressing the gathering at the Government House, alongside the newly appointed second-class Emirs of Gaya and Karaye, Sanusi highlighted the dire situation many Nigerians find themselves in.

People are in a dire situation. I’m aware that people now resort to buying half pepper because of the high cost of food items. This is unbearable. But I think with efforts like this, people can get some relief,” he stated.

The initiative, which aims to alleviate economic hardship and promote food security, will see each farmer, including women and persons living with disabilities, receive 25kg of fertiliser.

The Emir praised the Kano State Government for the initiative but urged further action to mitigate the ongoing economic challenges.

On his part, Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, said, “We are determined to support our farmers and ensure that food is available and affordable for all.”

The Emirs of Gaya and Karaye also voiced their support for the programme. Emir of Gaya, Ali Ibrahim, said, “This distribution of fertiliser will significantly contribute to food security in our state.” Similarly, the Emir of Karaye, Mahammad Mahraz, expressed optimism that the initiative would benefit the farming community.

Representatives of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) were also present, expressing their gratitude for the government’s gesture. “This initiative will help bring down the cost of food items in the state and provide much-needed support to our farmers,” remarked AFAN official Ibrahim Inuwa.

This protest talks is actually gaining massive momentum all over north, I hope they protest and don’t leave their course to start attacking Igbo people’s businesses.

Leave the talks of them going to stage a peaceful protest, that’s a facade on the actual agenda

Y’all should vent your anger towards the politicians and the political infrastructures and don’t end up attacking innocent people, just because they are from the southern part of this joke called nation.

Protest is haram! Emir Sanusi was part of the elites who bastardized beyond repair. Guess everything in Nigeria is being seen with the warped prismatic eye view of ethno-religious supremacy sentiments and agenda? You can't be making silly political decisions and expects others to suffer with you.

Not me but this is the plague you helped enthroned on the Nigerian nation; "The president of Nigeria should never be associated with such a miasma of dubiety. Here’s another “hard question”. What’s the message to aspiring future leaders of Nigeria? That they can make the wrong choices in life, live a less-than-honest life, and still become president provided they have deep pockets and can manipulate the system?

No one who truly loves Nigeria can ignore the damaging precedent that Tinubu’s emergence as president set for the moral bearings of this country.

they should attack political infrastructures that were provided with tax payers money,do you think those things were provided with politicians money?.
A youth with this kind of mindset too will be decrying hardship,I wonder how you want to have things easier with this kind of thinking.what a shame,so after the destruction the government will allocate huge sums to renovate what you destroyed instead of providing new additional ones.
I’m very sorry to say people like you, your hardship is self inflicted because I’m very sorry to say you are a disgrace.
The police stations that were set ablaze during the endsars has been rebuilt but from whose money?.people like me will support them killing your likes that goes around destroying what they built from my own money in the name of protest.i wonder if you have a tax clearance certificate.
During the endsars protest, how many houses, police stations, government busses and other social amenities did your people destroy in the southeast, perhaps how much of those has been provided by your state government ?.obviously it was a calculated attempt to draw back the Southwest to the deplorable state of economic and political penury that you people have placed yourselves.
Go and protest in your states and destroy political infrastructure there.

yes I was a kid but if you have brains you will know that an account that was created about 12 years before yours obviously doesn’t belong to your mate.how old were you in 2012,that’s the problem most people here have, when even a 13yrar old has account on Nairaland already.ill just advise you to stay under your mums roof and leave the protest for those who don’t have anybody to morn them.
