Good evening Giselle. Thank you for your brilliant input. I love your brutal yet honest responses. However, it's true that I earn 84+ as a civil servant. It is also true that my husband sends me ₦250k as monthly allowance for upkeep. Out of this money, ₦40k is expended for both our daughters monthly upkeep and the remaining balance ₦210k is left for my own personal upkeep. It is also true that my tenant paid me 490k annual rent to my account ( the tenant rented that place last year April and renewed the rent this year April). I submitted receipt given to the tenant, tenancy agreement and the property deed of assignment and change of ownership from my State Housing and Property Authority bearing both me and hubby's name was attached.) In the extra information, I explained these funds in my statement and these are the only funds that enter my account and where I do all my normal monthly expenses as I don't have any other cash income asides these monies. But I explained also that I had 1 landed properties owned soley by me and 2 owned jointly by my husband and I. I also submitted 2 of my husband's personal savings accounts statements (Naira and Pound Sterling) showing earnings from his business, his company Registration Documents and CAC certificate (his company is also active on the website). I also submitted my marriage certificate, all my kids birth certificates, our family pictures and explained that I wasn't traveling with them and would come back to them after my vacation. I also submitted copies of my 6- months expired UK visit Visa in 2013 and my student visa in 2015. As for travel Intentions, my husband was supposed to be my full sponsor as he had promised to sponsor me to visit the UK again since I hadn't visited the UK after my studies in 2015. But I thought that I could also show that from my own personal savings, I can take care of some few extra expenses that come up during the trip that was why I put ₦500k in that section. So please what I want to know is that, where did I get it wrong? My salary account shouldn't have reflected my allowance from my husband and my rent or what? How should I have explained my allowance and my rent income part because you said my mention of these incomes with my salary in my application made it looked fake or confusing and made it them weary. How else would I have presented my personal finances of which my allowance and rent are part of my reality? Because even if my salary today increases, me and my children's allowance from my husband will not stop neither will my rent. So what was I supposed to do or how would I have presented it better? Or I shouldn't have just mentioned only my salary and exclude these other regular funds and told them my husband would sponsor me a 100%? I really don't understand this whole finance/economic part of the visa application and what the ECO expects from me fully. Make me understand like a 5 year old please. Thank you. Sorry for the inconveniences giselle237: |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Cashmadam: 8:10pm On Jul 19 |
arikk001: Sorry about the refusal. Main reason: your salary is considered too low. The main issue is your salary. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Cashmadam: 8:12pm On Jul 19 |
Coolhaywhy: Use both. Your salary account is mostly to show how much you get every month. The balance should be healthy but should not be a show stopper in your case. |

Even with my additional regular monthly allowance from husband and annual rent income, and the fact that my husband is sponsoring 95% of the trip, it's my salary that became the problem. So as it is, even though my husband will sponsor me 100% without me spending anything for the trip, they will still deny me visa because of my low salary? It is well o. Na wa. Na to pray make God change my financial situation be that from now on o Cashmadam: |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by giselle237: 11:18pm On Jul 19 |
arikk001:Annual rent income?? 490k divided by 12 , means 40k extra every month… Please na this income is negligible. Plus allowance you collect from ur husband… you would still spend from it… So your disposable income is maybe around 150k even after all this combining… That plus the trip is not essential in their eyes… you can go to other countries - over 190 others are there to vacation and shop, it must not be UK that is why they have also told you your intentions are doubted. After your travel hx in 2015, looks like you have not gone anywhere else.. no travel history too to make them even say they want to close their eye and manage your circumstances. On a balance of probabilities they would not take a chance on you because it is risky. Yes the prayer is necessary or let your husband sponsor you to another country as well and come back to them, they would understand better that it is truly your intention to just go for holidays after all you have gone somewhere else and really now want to visit the UK again. 1 Like |

Good morning gurus in the house, I have been a silent readers for years. I am about completing my application from but I need clarity 1. I currently earn in US$ my salary is paid into my Nigerian Dom account. I have my bank stment and payslips to back this up. Can I present only this dollar statement as my source of income without needing to support with a naira account since I am living in Nigeria. 2. I organise 100k monthly contributions therfore, I receive money into my naira account from different people up to 1.2 million monthly which I transfer to the recipient accordingly. This same naira account I use in receiving money when I change dollar to naira from aboki. Can I use this account as well or it might complicate things |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Cashmadam: 9:27am On Jul 20 |
bukkylink:- the contributions will complicate things. I suggest you use another account for the contributions effective July then run your Naira account for 6 months before you apply. 1 Like |

Please guys I need your assistance. I already submitted my application for student visa, I'm awaiting biometric. I have one visa refusal for South Africa last year, but I didn't declare it before I submit my application. Please guys what can I do remedy the situation? Will it affect the visa decision? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Jolene474(f): 4:08pm On Jul 20 |
You can’t have a refusal just last year and not declare it. Not a good call at all. I don’t know if they can see database with South Africa, but if they do, it’s a really huge deception issue for them I believe, not even 5 or 10 years ago. 1 Like |
