One thing is certain that recently the presidency in trying to pacify the south East region has made some bold steps in assuaging the ills inherent in the South East by giving them an additional state to make it 6 states from the south East region, and it is no doubt that number of states have been mentioned amongst them is Anioma which is the present day Delta North senatorial district having about 9 Local government areas. It has three ethnic groups which is Ukwani, Ika and Aniocha.
As God will have it the present occupant of the senator seat at the upper Chambers is Senator Ned Nwoko who is from Aniocha, Ukwuani and Ika having gotten their fare share in the past in the person of Senator Patrick Osakwe and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa who later became the Governor of the state.
There is an ongoing debate to make Anioma state the 6th state of the South East and the Ukwuani and Ika people have vehement opposed it, there is no doubt that Aniocha axis which is the Asaba area have so much in common with the Igbos across the Niger but the other two ethnic groups are simply not igbo judging by their history, cultural heritage and beliefs hence their stand.
They have nothing against the Igbos, they have being living together as Neighbors sharing similarities both in language and even culture however they are not Igbos.
Ned Nwoko and his supporters from the Antiocha axis cannot Lord over the other two which is like 2/3 majority.
Anioma greetings is not Kwenu but Mbene-ni or Uwaoma ni.

You don't define a people or determine where they belong by their greetings and culture. Instead understanding of one another in terms of language. Whether Kwenu or Uwaoma the most important thing is that they all understand themselves. If they don't belong to SE where they can understand each other language and share almost same culture, is it with Ijaw, Ishekiri and Urhobo who they don't even understand a shit in each other's language they should attach themselves to?

The best region for Anioma to belong is SE, there is no back and forth on that.

no mind them oh. After spoiling east, them dey look for another man place to take cos of being peaceful, the oil, access to sea so they can extend ipob down here. We know their fake dreams. We have replied ned. They think Ned loves them, and na east they push for anioma, not us, who are supposed 2 be most concerned. One crook even had guts 2 say nothing like east or south, and that constitution only recognised 36/37 states, and not region b4 I showed him where crook Ned said "yearnings" by Delta north to unite with their eastern "brothers" and they speak "same language". Ned nwoko will never smell Senate or any elective position anymore. We have made our resolve

What are you afraid of exactly!? Assuming, without conceding, that you’re actually from Ukwuani or Aniocha, don’t you think if majority of their people decide for whatever reason that they have more in common linguistically, culturally and ethnically with the Itshekiri, Uhrobo and Ijaw, that they will voice their feelings themselves!? Why this shameless display of fear on nairaland!? Or do you think Ned Nwoko has the power to drag them kicking and screaming into a political arrangement they don’t want!?

Can someone remind me again what ethnicity Dr Ifeanyi Okowa said he’s proudly from during the campaigns for the last presidential election in 2023? I wanna check something!

Anioma won't be created but if it's mistakenly created, it won't be part of the south east

All this talk is not necessary. As I have saud here, Anioma State cannot be added to the South-East as the constitution of Nigeria does not recognise anything called South East, same as it does not recognise anything called South South

You cannot belong to, or be added to what does not exist in law.

can u remind me where Sunday oliseh said he was from? After making that "I am an Igbo man" statement, Okowa was told point blank not only by Deltans, but by even his ward people he would lose the state. He even lost his ward woefully

Oh, so you don’t deny Dr Ifeanyi Okowa made that statement!? At least we’re getting somewhere! I think you’ll find i have never denied there are Igbo deniers in Anioma….Sunday Oliseh being one of them. Oliseh and his ilk have been indoctrinated and conditioned from a very young age by efforts of the evil hegemonic deep-state intent on shrinking Igbo territory and denying us access to the sea! You being on this forum and doing what you’re doing is part of the script! To each his own!

Like i always have argued, there will always be Igbo deniers in Delta and Rivers states, just as there will always be Igbo in these states proud to assert their Igboness! The key thing is to let the people directly involved speak for themselves through the usual democratic means and not come on nairaland to harangue those in favour of Anioma/south-east unity! What exactly are you scared of!?

Could you share links to reports or clips buttressing your claim that Dr Ifeanyi Okowa was threatened for declaring he’s proudly Igbo?

just look at yourself. Okowa statement was a political one to get Igbo votes. Agbor people accused him of denying his tribe to get Igbo votes and told him he would lose woefully. After d elections, his daughter begged Ika people for forgiveness, my friend is head of obedient movement in Ika land. The video is available, where she begged obedient not to be abandoned in house of assembly b4 d elections. Which was y they voted her in.

I agree with all your points.

But you guys called Emefiele greedy corrupt Igbo man. Emefiele is Ika but when he committed crime, he became Igbo, they bring bad name to Igbos when they do bad but when they want to play politics of division Ika people becomes Niger Delta people.

Anyway, it is left to the Anioma people themselves to decide for themselves. At the end, the rest of Nigerians see them as Igbos during politics, even in Delta state politics which was what made Ned Nwoko to start this project.

Former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was referred to as Igbo man, and he publicly declared that he is an Igbo man to the whole Nigerians and the world, and that was the reason Atiku picked him as his running mate. Hausa-Fulanis call them Igbos, Yorubas call them Igbos when they start asking for something in federal politics or when they commit crime but when Yorubas need them to divide or tarnish Igbo people name for politics, they start telling them that they are not Igbos but Niger Delta people lol

The young generation of Anioma youths have already discovered this deceit and are waking up gradually but the older generation are still living in the deceit of the post Biafra-Nigeria civil war brainwashing and propaganda. Time will settle all these.

My friend from Ika always tell me that their youths are gradually waking up and realizing who their enemies are. So no argument with you, you won cool

My major concern is, wherever Anioma people decide to belong to; whether Southsouth or Delta state, they are very free to do so, but please they should stop slandering the name of Igbos in making their choice. They should respect majority of Igbos and not slander our name as forcing them to join Southeast because it's not true, majority of Igbos in Southeast don't care about all these, what we care about is to succeed in life and to be successful in whatever we do in life.

So please stop tarnishing Igbo people name in the name of rejecting your political elites decision to join you people with Southeast. Reject their offer maturely and with respect for Igbos and our name please
