FG Bans Local Airports From Operating International Flights by Bobloco: 7:52pm On Jul 19

Minister of Aviation and Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, has banned international flight operations at non-international airports.

Keyamo, who directed all international flight operations at general aviation terminals, GAT, and other private terminals at the international airports, said except those exempted by the national security adviser, NSA, others must complete clearances at international terminals.

This was stated in a circular issued by the directorate of air traffic services of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, noting that no international flight operations should be conducted through non-international airports.

Deputy General Manager of NAMA, S.E. Inegbedion, who signed the circular, informed all stations of the ministerial directive, saying the instruction must be immediately followed.

Inegbedion said compliance was “compulsory” and any violation will attract “appropriate sanctions”.

Gbam! Them don tight everywhere for Bello, ex Kogi governor. But why is this one guy such a pain in the ass that the whole Nigerian government can't fish him out for arrest within Nigeria and instead would criple its own economy just to catch him? This guy tough...

Imagine international flights taking off from some village airports where they do not have the required instruments to conduct though search and screening.

Festus Keyamo and his ogas, we don't know who's more confused! Don't be surprised to see an international flight landing in Iragbiji, since they have put an exception.

Way too much recklessness in Nigeria.

People flying into the country without customs checks.

How can someone claim that the law is ineffective? When you travel abroad, you'll observe that international airlines exclusively use international airports. This benefits both the facilities at these local airports and supports local airlines.

When I saw this news elsewhere, I called it total rubbish! International flights don't even land on some international airports let alone landing on just local airports.

If Keyamo doesn't know what to do there, he should step aside for someone who does. These politicians should stop wasting Nigeria's time. This country is over 100 years with nothing to show for it.

You’re the one who hasn’t flown at all baby. If not the you won’t be making such error. The news is talking about people flying into local airports from outside Nigerian airspace and thus avoiding any passport/visa and customs checks.

You can fly from Lagos to Enugu even with an unofficial ID card. That’s how porous local flights are.

Except if this man is talking about private jets otherwise no international flights takes off from a local airport in Nigeria to land internationally and let him mention one. Instance. Nigeria doesn’t have laws doesn’t imply that other countries don’t have one.
