Where were you when Buhari was decimating the economy?

In addition, the use of high real interest rates to fight inflation is sound, even if it leads to a recession. This is global best practice.

That's why central banks operate best when their I dependent.

Nonsense!

Nobody is interested in these fables about BAT from 25 years ago. He is in the federal hot seat now. It is time to deliver!

Nigerians want performance. Not propaganda.

BAT can silence his critics for good by fixing this economy but so far he has failed to do that. The policy mix isn't working. There is nowhere to hide now. Economics and partisan politics are not the same thing.

You can hide ineptitude and incompetence only for a season. At the end of this fiscal year everyone will see the hole blown through the budget by the deficit BAT just got approval for...a colossal deficit masquerading as a supplementary budget. undecided

Nigerians will learn.

This simply isn't true.

The truth cannot be be hidden because the numbers don't lie.

Despite public claims to the contrary, the BAT administration is still paying subsidy on imported petrol. The landing cost of imported PMS is higher than the local pumphead price - and that's how you know there's still a subsidy. So...BAT 'stopped' paying subsidy...only to start paying it again. What was the point then? undecided

Despite public claims of a unification of exchange rates (also described as floating the Naira) the BAT administration has taken a couple of big, big loans with the expressly stated intention of intervention in currency markets. So...BAT stopped defending the Naira...only to borrow to defend it again. What was the point then? undecided

Don't just listen to what politicians say. Watch what they do.

Three's nothing bold in what they the North are doing. Absolutely nothing bold. They only appeal to themselves, the gullible and simple minded individuals.

If they want to show that they are really bold and courageously let them take it to the forefront of the Boko Haram boys, Fulani herdsmen, bandits, and all those kidnapping little children and girls and women in the North, all those ravaging farm lands in the entire North and displacing indigenes from their homes and farm lands.

PBAT has handicapped them that's why they are speaking because the largese entering the pocket no longer cones. They don't care about the North but about their pockets.

So now the truth is coming out?

Were you not the ones praising Buhari and claiming he was doing a good job? So you knew he was destroying the country and lying to Nigerians, just so they can return the favor?

Now you’re also doing the same thing, claiming Tinubu is doing the necessary job, all at the expense of suffering Nigerians?

Do you people hate Nigeria so much that you will destroy it with bad leaders just because of tribal and religious sentiments?

His decisions were not just hasty. They were disastrous, full stop. Inflation is difficult to tame in cash based, 3rd world economies with a large informal sector. BAT has a lot of 'big men' in his team who should have known the consequences of poor policy...but they went ahead anyway...and as they say, the rest is history.

Is there any gain without pain? Tinubu also could choose to dodge those problems as past leaders did and pretend that all is right, all what he needed to do was to send 2023 supplementary budget to the National Assembly and continuing paying fuel subsidy knowing fully well PMB was borrowing to pay but he declined to take that path. Food inflation is not peculiar to Nigeria,in fact cost of food is higher in Ghana than Nigeria at the moment. Tell me which of the policies is poor? I agree PBAT and his team were hasty to take some decisions but those decisions are necessary. Is it fuel subsidy removal that is not necessary? If it is unnecessary, why have successive governments attempted removing it in the past?
Is it closing the gap between official rate and parallel markets so as to eliminate arbitrage that is unnecessary? Or various monetary policies to determine the real value of Naira?

These Ministers were just on their own and these Northerners were happy then because most of the Funds goes to private pockets and Corruption was epitomised.e g Air Nigeria with all the NBillions could not be Accounted for till date and no single Nigeria Airplane!

The fuel subsidy has not been re-introduced. How can it be re- introduced when it is not in appropriation Act 2024? What they are doing is intervention. When the landing cost is too high, they intervene. Presently the landing cost of petrol is about N1,100 per litre, how many Nigerian can afford to buy at this price if govt doesn't intervene? There are months at the early stage of Tinubu's administration that no kobo was Paid in form of government's intervention on fuel. This cannot be called subsidy in the real sense.
If the removal of subsidy has not achieved any other thing,It has atleast prevented us from subsidising fuel consumption of neighbouring countries.
The Afrezim loan I am aware of was the $3b sought in 2023 and it was just a temporary attempt to enhance Fx liquidity. Ask yourself if truly he is defending Naira, why is our external reserve still hovering around $35billion? There is no way this government would be defending Naira with the prevailing situation and foreign reserve would still increase as witnessed recently.
