You are a liar. No one earn 30k for states paying minimum wage. Most of the time they add allowances/other additions and etc.

There is no way in hell they earn exact 30k as gross.

Even normal workers, they might tell you your gross is 100k but sometimes bonus and etc add to it for the total package
