Everybody wants somebody to "bend the knee". "The Cabal" vs Dangote Refinery.
cheesy cheesy

Between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery who is listing first? grin

"Na power struggle for the pie"
, but done in a very tactless way.

It was Landmark, now Dangote. Lagos breeze is different oo.

I want a piece of both pies

And you think the president has no idea of what's happening in a game-changing project within the DIL??
"Loud-mouthed Farouk" had no backing?

You'd be surprised at the different power blocs and cabals grappling for dominance in the government... let's see how this plays out

You might be good with just one. It all depends on the details of the fine print.

Just one in this case. Nigeria's street-hustling has no room for a finesse touch.

Remember Dangote is part of Tinubu's economic team... remember Tinubu sought to stop oil subsidy and is working hard to resuscitate the government owned refineries.. Farouk doesn't speak for Tinubu.. rather for those benefiting from fuel importation and subsidy regime.. i project that the guys close to Tinubu like Alake and Gbajabiamila will advise Tinubu accordingly... Dantata (Dangote's uncle) is still alive... Dangote will pull the needed strings to overcome Farouk and his puppeteers... Dangote has built bridges across the Niger and most of his businesses if not all are in the South... he's also been in the corridors of power long enough to know how to play the "game of thrones"... he'll overcome.

No doubt he will, but at what cost? grin

Nigeria is a nasty country.

Sounds like a selfish statement cos you want to discuss your own UCAP instead of Dangote..if he decides to delist from the NGX, over a fifth of the total value is gone! Let those who hold the shares use the sentiments discussed to make informed decisions.

Mind you I didn't say we should stop discussing the Dangote refinery issue, I said to ease off. Selfishness is what guides most human action. This includes the Dangote vs government and oil cabals duel. Each side is just bargaining to get what they desire. So if you are not selfish you don't know yourself. I am just concerned that we could miss some opportunities in our primary business here, which is buying and selling stocks, if we lose focus.

Our bros don vex o...

Lol, if that were to happen, the refinery would not last more than 5 years. They would use nepotism, corruption, and mismanagement to run it down. For those who are against Dangote or trying to remain neutral, you should try to see it objectively. Let's assume Dangote is a monopoly. What would you prefer: a monopoly that provides jobs, pays taxes, and keeps a large portion of the money within Nigeria, or a non-monopoly that sends our jobs outside the country, depletes our limited foreign exchange reserves, and funnels subsidies to a few individuals?

In Nigeria, almost everyone is corrupt, but what have others done with their ill-gotten gains? Every day, the cost of living is skyrocketing, there are no jobs, and yet this is still a debate.

Let's leave our baggage behind and try to see things more clearly.

#15bn refinery about to go to waste...
Ajaokuta comes to mind
Its politics and power at play
Once he gives then their share of the pie, they'll rest and change mouth.
Its not funny how we are throwing "our own" under the bus all in the name of selfishness!
Wasn't there quality standard procedures followed in the first place?

If one is really interested they can buy after mark down. Though I don't get why anyone would be chasing bonus shares

It depends on your investment objectives........but could have been best entered before the announcement or as soon as announcement was made.
Corporate Action is not yet out anyway, so not late in terms of qualification date....
Some long termers are still buying...
You can wait for pullback if you're a bonus and Dividend lover.

he has to overcome it because such a massive project is beneficial and strategic...... infact once this project succeeds it will attract more investments.

You can imagine dangote saying a Friend of his is taunting him because of the advise he was given against investing a huge amount in an unpredictable environment with policy inconsistencies. If they succeed in frustrating him, Nigeria will be marked a no go area by investors.

Hello folks, I really want to educate myself on this subject. Do you guys actually buy shares of the company; I mean owning part of the company physically? Or buying through brokers?

For example, Nnpc have a stake of 7.5% in dangote refinery, how can someone buy the remaining 12.8% shares? Do you buy through brokers? Or is there a way that can be done?

I'm not trying to say I have the bread to get the shares. Just trying to understand how stock market works. Thanks you.

Might not be feasible because the main oil mafias are the international guys and they will stop at nothing in frustrating him.
