So why is diesel and Kerosene still expensive if a local refinery has been 271 million liter of refined products annually? I thought u are of the opinion that local refinery will make petroleum products cheap.

I did not say this oh. Supply and demand are factors.

Everything u have written here is just sentiment and nothing else.

Have the importers been existing before the advent of Dangote refinery? Yes!

Did FG/NNPC enter into any agreement with Dangote that they(NNPC) will cut off importers as soon as Dangote refinery come up? I don't know; I'm sure you don't know this as well.

So far there is no contract or agreement binding NNPC to Dangote and vice versa, make each party do what works for them.

Lmaoo.. It's the same thing the farmers are also crying about with this whole opening of the border.
Importing food kills the agricultural industry.

Now look at Dangote as a local business (even if he's the only local refinery we have). Is the government meant to protect him or not?
I also understand that he and FG are part of what landed us in this hot mess especially with the way fx was used and the rules bent.

But as a local business of that magnitude and importance, isn't the government meant to favour him somewhat?
The question is what is the government now doing on their part to help him?

I don't understand this argument, should NNPC stop importation totally and rely on only Dangote refinery, is that the argument or bone of contention?

Do you think this is reasonable?

I don't agree nnpc should totally rely on Dangote.

But I also agree nnpc has to give some favouritism to Dangote.

Now how they plan to do that, I don't know.
Another important question is how much do the guys at nnpc make from importation that they pocket?
I believe that goes into account as to why nnpc (cabal) won't move body to give Dangote any real help.

Another question is this, if we have atleast private refineries asking for this sort of thing that Dangote alone asked for, would you be alot more comfortable?

You have been reading the wrong news bro. We don't have surplus crude available like u are assuming.

We have pledge some of the untapped crude to pay our creditors, so as soon as they explore the crude it gets shipped to our creditors.

We have alot of untapped oil.
Infact I recently learnt there's a well that's been burning In the water for a long time with no way to contain it. That's how much oil we have😁
We just have low production that's incapable of meeting our needs.
Ramping up production is sadly very very expensive and companies are not mostly interested.
But let's see what the Berger deal has in place for us

By point is NNPC can sell crude to Dangote. They promised to do so before. They are in charge. IOCs or not. NNPC can tell those guys to sell to Dangote according to the law.

You said urself that u don't know the extent of NNPC's obligation to the crude backed loans undertaken by Buhari. You also don't know the extent of NNPC's obligation to repayment on crude backed loan undertaken by Tinubu since he came into power.

So, what gives u the impression that crude is lying fallow somewhere and NNPC don't want to help Dangote get some?

I think u don't even understand how the joint venture between NNPC and some of those IOCs work.

Nigeria (represented by NNPC) usually enter into Joint Venture contract with IOCs like Shell and the likes. Those companies use their money and resources to explore and bring out crude. Such contracts allows the IOCs to get as much as 60% while FG gets 40%.

Now those IOCs are free to do whatever they please with their own 60% while FG is free to do as they please with theirs as well. It is inside that FG's 40% they will pay back crude backed loans , sell to the international market to finance governance etc. It is still inside that 40% Dangote expects to get crude supplied to him.

Dangote wants FG to compel the IOCs to sell to him before shipping their own 60% abroad , but I really don't know if there's any law that compels the IOCs to comply.

These things are not as simple as they seem, but also so much is shrouded in secrecy in the oil and gas space in Nigeria.

Just forget this thing you are saying. NNPC are in charge.

Nigeria produces 1.6 or .7 million barrels of oil per day. This is the official figures we know oh. The ones they corner and oil theft is not among oh.

If NNPC want to give Dangote crude, they can. As of last year they promised to sell to Dangote. But all of a sudden, their strategic interest doesn't align again.

You sef dey confused.
We nor get crude to sell to Dangote.
And our production is capped at 1.3m I believe.
We are probably not going to meet opec assigned quota if care isn't taken.
What we have is untapped but that is useless without drilling

Actually they can't mandate them when those people have their own sales already locked in.
That's not how it works.
FG also has there agreement signed with those companies.

Do u know the financial resources required to explore oil? Why do u think FG/NNPC always enter into Joint Venture(JV) with IOCs?

One of the issues then was that gas was not getting to the genco so production was low.

He has been able to get some of the gas debt cleared, coupled with the raining season mean increased power output.
The improvement in power supply we're experiencing now cannot be attributed to the rainy season, as the hydro power plant's contribution to the national grid is relatively small, accounting for less than 7% of our total megawatts. This suggests that other sources, such as gas-fired power plants, or improved transmission infrastructure, are playing a more significant role in boosting power supply.

The government has made it impossible for other Importers to access forex. NMDPRA has advised importers to buy from him locally and sell .

That is what they have done for him.

But Dangote thinks that is not enough.

So we agree we have untapped that can meet anything we need.

We also agree that we need alot of money to resuming drilling and no company right now in Nigeria is investing.

What we have is a possible investment for drilling with berger but we don't know when or if it will even be a "Here we go" thing

Nigeria has always been open to more IOCs coming into the drilling space, the gate has never been closed.

Ur talk about untapped crude is just for knowing sake. Abi will they use otumakpo call the crude out from the ground and use it to solve financial issues ? grin

But Dangote knows they won't buy from him because at what rate are they going to sell when nnpc is still doing subsidy.

Unless Dangote is saying that nnpc will also pay him subsidy to crash the price when he sells to local importers.
Na that subsidy be the problem for here.
If nnpc stops subsidy today totally, Dangote will have like 80% of the issues solved

Lmao.. Now I'm confused as to what you are disagreeing with.
I never said we were closed up.
I said it was extremely expensive to drill or even use an old oil head.
Outside of the expense, we have an unattractive business environment. Investors know that all it takes is one new policy and everything turns upside down.
This is also outside the oil theft in place too and the numerous kickbacks.

That's why we are not having people.

Look at an example below of my point

So, u as a Nigerian citizen living in Nigeria as of today, which do u prefer?

Dangote selling fuel at premium price or NNPC selling fuel at subsidized price?

NOTE THAT: Dangote can still sell his product to any Market other than the Nigerian market where there's still some sort of subsidy o.

I just find it puzzling that suddenly the common Nigerian is fighting tooth and nail for Dangote even when it appears there's no obvious inherent benefit in it for them.

Is it the opposition to the government that makes people take this kinda stand?

But inside this issue, we have only highlighted the lies told against Dangote.
I don't like Dangote doesn't mean I won't call out the lies told. It's a national discussion.
What are the benefits of Dangote's refinery working as against the demerits?
If nnpc pays Dangote that subsidy and therefore cuts out the fx they use for importation and also ensures he gets 200k of oil, would that save the country financially or not?
That's the important question.

You are the person I don't understand the point you were trying to make when you quoted me with the untapped crude issue. At no point did I insinuate we don't have untapped crude. We are all aware of the issues with policies in Nigeria and the paucity of funds on the part of government to undertake such capital intensive projects.

We are discussing what we that is available for now, not untapped crude that may not get tapped in years to come due to those aforementioned challenges bedeviling the oil and gas industry.

That's why I said your point raised about untapped crowd is just for knowing sake. More like an academic exercise

I have been following the news. By law they suppose to sell to Dangote and local refineries. They are to prioritise local market first.
