Lagos Students Shun National Protest, Plan Solidarity Walk by abc115: 9:52pm On Jul 23 |
Students of some tertiary institutions in Lagos State have said rather than joining a nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 to 10, they have resolved to embark on a solidarity walk in support of the state government on the same day. https://punchng.com/lagos-students-shun-national-protest-plan-solidarity-walk/ 12 Likes

The chairman, NANS, Lagos axis, Lekan Alimi, who addressed journalists on behalf of the students of various tertiary institutions in the state, described the planned nationwide protests against hardship in the country as “absolutely uncalled for.” Just see the stupid sell outs that have not entered the job market yet. Still depending on hand outs and mummy thank you. Solidarity walk for hunger and hardship! You can’t fool us, you all have been part and parcel of this oppressive system. The eyes and ears of the government among the students in the tertiary institutions! Damn! What a pyramid scheme of corruption! Catch them young. Nigerian students, use your head. Don’t insult your parents that struggled to pay your fees by joining a solidarity walk for hardship and hunger. These sell outs have sorted out themselves. Don’t let them use you, pay you peanuts and dump you at the end of the day. These sell outs will not help you in anyway when you are done with your studies. Just know you are on your own. 34 Likes 4 Shares

I like this idea.. 'Solidarity with Nigeria' walk is the way to go. Never will I support ho0dlums going to gather close to business premises at ungodly hours. Their motive is to steal, loot and destroy sweat of hardworking Nigerians. Na person wey no dey work for money, no go know pain of losing one's sweat and life hustle in one night. 12 Likes 2 Shares |

Okoroawusa:They are targeting the newly built blue line. The headless mob mocked it during construction and even created a fake video of some men pushing the train in a bridge, but to their shock, it is completed and operational. The next thing for them is now to destroy it. Reminder of what was destroyed in the last protest.. same IPOB crowd but now hiding under the Obidient movement 👇 14 Likes 2 Shares

Good for them... That is the beauty of democracy and its attendant freedom of expressions. Those who wish to protests and speak truth to government should do so peacefully. Have start and end points clearly mapped out. Do not obstruct traffic or harass those not participating in the protests. Have clearly defined and realistic demands for which the success or otherwise of the protests can be measured against. All protests should terminate at the state government Houses with the protesters peacefully tabling thier demands before thier respective governors for implementation or onward transmission to the President. Protesters should take note of peculiarities in each of thier states. Make demands of the state governors too, like ensuring the 70k minimum wage is paid, salary & pension arrears cleared within 2 months, more investment in agriculture, SMEs for unemployed youths, provision of CNG buses to supplement the FG's own so as to ease mass transit, mortgage schemes etc. The government on its path should ensure security of protesters and non-protesters. The protesters should record EVERYTHING while the police should be equipped with bodycams to do thier own recording. On no account should protesters be engaged without recordings on both sides and on no account should the military be involved. One thing is obvious, the threat of the protests is already bringing some results. The government is suddenly on its toes. But this tension may be reinforced by peaceful protests and set targets. Those who want to hold solidarity walks in favour of government should do so after the protests since thiers is more like an afterthought. They can also present demands like asking for reversal of the minimum wage, increase in fuel price, support of worsening insecurity etc. It is also thier right. 3 Likes |
