Correct.
Perhaps all the sound and fury around this issue would be clarified if all parties defined what they meant by a "Christian" or other religion country.

Does this mean a country where the government defines it as such through the adoption of a state religion or one where the majority of the population profess to practice said religion?

By the former definition, the US does not qualify and by the latter, it does.
You're right in a way. However, defining America as a 'Christian country' based on the number of individuals who practice Christianity is tricky. Apparently 63% of Americans practice Christianity which is still a large majority. Still, this doesn't mean they all share the same political views or support the same policies (back to the election argument) or even hold the same β€˜Christian’ values. Some call themselves Christians but do not follow the biblical principles. It’s a very tricky one when it comes to America.

No πŸ˜…

I have notes (aide de memoir more like) of important points/ examples to hit on each specification. Same kind of notes you'll have if debating (hark to secondary school days) or giving a presentation.

I will have 2 - 3 bullet points of each of my examples on an A5 sheet and I refer to them.

In fact when I talk about my skills around being organised, being detailed, juggling tasks and being analytical - I use my notes as an example of one of the ways I keep myself on track and accountable. Because day to day at work, I use notes and reminders, otherwise I'll lose track.

The only civil service interview I passed (2 interviews online, failed one), I actually had all my examples written up and read off them. I do presentations for work so paraphrase a lot anyway. I had 2 screens, had the video interview on one screen and my notes on the other. Same way I do presentations. Shame they were painfully slow with onboarding!

I won't advise you to do that of you'll read verbatim!

oh wow, thank you. I didn;t know it was allowed. I just go in with my head and then ramble on only to remember some key points after the interview. grin

Greetings Elders,

Please, I need your guidance on how best to approach my situation.

I received a debt recovery letter from a Legal firm on behalf of the energy company I used in an apartment I vacated almost 2 years ago stating that I'm owing the sum of Β£2.2k for energy bills accruing from the date I vacated the apartment till date. I reached out to the energy company with my account details and the customer service person confirmed that my account had been settled and closed and that the other account in my name with accrued debt was opened by them internally. She apologised and stated that they would reach out to Experian to take it off my credit file (in my head, I assumed that it is not on my credit file as I usually check Credit Karma and never seen any of such report. I told her I wanted to raise a complaint which she raised for me, sent me the reference number and told me that someone from the Resolution Team will call me the following day. However, no one has called since over a week.

I ordered my credit report from Experian last week and it arrived today. Also, I've received another letter from the Legal firm chasing me for the debt I do not owe and stating that I have to arrange a repayment plan latest 30th July. After reviewing my credit report from Experian, I noted that the energy company had reported at least 3 missing payments on my credit report and this will stay on my report for at least 6 years, thereby affecting future credit applications, especially Mortgage.

Please can you advise on how best to approach this situation? Do I file a law suit against the company, demand financial compensation, etc?

Thank you.

1. Raise a dispute on Experian and attach your evidence as a first step so they can remove the information.
2. Raise a formal complaint with thr energy company again, detailing previous comms and requesting they uodate your information, call off their debt collectors and put all to you in writing. Obviously this is where you complain about the stress on you, your finances etc.
If they're part of of the ombudsman, escalate to them too at the same time. I am not sure if the FCA also regulates utility companies but it's worth researching into and escalating to them as well.
3. Litigation is expensive and there is no guarantee of success.

Greetings to the house. Please I need advice on this energy provider issue. I moved into this rented house in September last year, and was even happy that the meters for gas and electricity are prepaid pay as you go, so I just top up and use what we have on it. I just got a mail from Ovo energy today that I have over Β£300 debt on the meter, and they sent a table showing when I supposedly recharged the meter and when I didn't, plus my consumption for those periods. The table stated I did not recharge the gas meter between January and June this year. It's baffling because I load between Β£50-80 on that gas meter every month depending on usage. Also, how can someone not pay for gas on a meter that cuts off supply immediately there's no credit on it, and still live in the house for 6 months? I have raised a complaint and got a reference number, with the resolution team saying they'll carry out an investigation within the next two weeks and get back to me. Please, is here anything I should do now, or should I just wait for the outcome of their investigation? It's just ridiculous that I'm having such an issue on a prepaid meter

There's no need for concern. I had a similar experience with Ovo. They initially emailed me that they would add a certain amount to my meter starting in early July. However, when I contacted them, they admitted that the email was sent in error. Even their calculations turned out to be incorrect. I've checked my meter multiple times since then and found no additional debt. Therefore, you can rest assured that you're not in any trouble.

Agreed...

@DadR

#1 should resolve the issues with your Experian report. You may also need to contact/review your reports with other providers like Clear Score in case there's also been any impact there.

#2. You could also make a formal complaint to the regular,Ofgem: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/complain-about-your-energy-supplier-0

Or when you contact the energy company, threaten them that you will be taking this matter to Ofgem, and Action Fraud if necessary, if they do not resolve this promptly

The call you made last week should be recorded - they should be able to retrieve this with your reference number and date/time of the call. Request a transcript of the call for your records in case you need this proof down the line.

Does he? Remember this image from 2016 elections

Lol... as a populist, he'd pose with whatever trend for the PR. His followers can use this as proof he is not prejudiced against certain groups. On a good day, he might even pose with the BLM flag. The same reason why minorities are usually made spoke persons or home secretary or how Reform campaigners switch from using 'migration' to 'illegal migration' when they encounter a non-white person.

Once a few catch phrases are liked by certain groups, they are doubled down on to lock support in.

Yes I ask for all interviews. It helps clarify my thoughts processes and because I always have notes with me, it means I can at a glance pick out which examples are suitable.
I appreciate this. Thanks.

They can't obviously teach all history, but they do teach a lot of history here, at least compared to some places. And there's always libraries and books and telly where a lot of history can be seen. There's even a whole month dedicated to Black History, so I'd even go as far as claiming quite a lot of "British colonial racist past" is taught, which really can't not be taught since some pesky kid from India or Kenya or Jamaica or Nigeria or even Ireland would raise the "British colonial racist past" as a topic in class and cause it to be discussed. And the intention of teaching about it is so students learn to not be racist and stupid now.

Below is from the history curriculum.

You mean the whitewashed history they teach in school this days. The only place they get to know the truth about their history is on social media.

Here's what JD Vance, Trump's new veep pick, had to say about Trump over the past several years, all while being an active Republican - calling him reprehensible and comparing him to Hitler, and there's a lot more: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/07/15/politics/kfile-jd-vance-comments-trump/index.html

Very interesting.

JD Vance was picked because of the money he will attract to the campaige from wallstreet, this is Trump party, Trump controls the RNC and the RNC has promised that all the money they generate will go to Trump campaige.

I suppose you cureently stream via SmartersPro / PandaPlayer. Try and stream via Tivimate app if you have a spare Β£10 you're not using. Tivimate runs much faster than SmartersPro and the interface is user friendly. The subscription can be purchased via playstore / applestore only.

Remember to logout of SmartersPro app before signing in on Tivimate so you don't breach the single user restrictions.
I’m looking to get in with IPTV, can you please give me a starters guide on how to go about it? Best budget one with Africa/Dstv channels that runs smoothly.

Thanks in anticipation of your response.

I guess conservatives wanted people to get back to work too. I've seen a video of Rishi Sunak saying people with "minor conditions" should return to some form of work.

UPDATE on Visa switch within the uk after curtailment

After a year plus in the uk with an unreliable employer that brought us in. No shifts, excuses, pregnancy redundancy etc. sought for cos for over a year and we no see. Decided to back down. Shockingly the employer curtailed our leaved without prior information. Para entered body as we have kids, properties etc. the day the we got the email from home office with 4 attachments of the curtailment letters, I was shocked, couldn't work, lost hope felt like my life has been cut short.
I came back home and told my wife that we MUST get cos within 7days if we apply the same strategy we used when we got from Nigeria. We swung into action, met a solicitor in London, that one too carry more para join our existing para say make we use our uk born baby get papers bla bla bla. I went through all the immigration laws, council website, citizen advice and even found out a help on it for displaced carers etc. from same website, it took me to another website that showed licenced health and care employers in the uk only. I had to add some tech skills in my search, applying to every part of uk from England to northern Ireland to Scotland to wales and gracefully I got this employer that is leaving 30 mins walk away from us, listened to our story, had interview and gave offer followed by a cos without a dime. Infact we told the employer we would pay isc after it was assigned, employer no gree I started suspecting the COS sef. All of these happened within 5 days. The employer assigned the cos and kept quiet. After like 3 more days we asked the employer about the way forward and employer said it has been done. We said ah ah, send us the document naaa, boom email entered and it was it. Employer hasn't done it before and we appeared to be the first to be assigned by the company, lots of mistakes including sub category, work duration (1 year then corrected to 3 years) and missing ISC charge. Sponsor note was added and we applied with priority as our 60 days is already counting down. Then emailed isc admin and business helpdesk including work sponsor team concerning the isc error and the payment ref that was made after the error. They acknowledged the email within 24 and telling us they have returned our application to case work and Within another 24 hours case worker approved it. Its been about 17days from the time of curtailment to successful application. From the time of visa application to approval was just 3 days with priority and id app identity check.
I am happy to share this post.
I hope this answers some people's question here on NL.
