Women From Nnamdi Kanu’s Community In Abia Embark On Protest, Demand Immediate Release From Detention

Women of Isiama Afara Ukwu in Abia State, the community of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, have held a peaceful protest against the continued detention of the IPOB leader by the Nigerian government.

The women who were armed with Kanu’s portrait, singing a protest song, demanded immediate release of the IPOB leader from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) where he has been held since June 2021 when he was extraordinarily renditioned from Kenya for alleged terrorism and treasonable felony.

SaharaReporters had reported how the South-East Governors Forum agreed to meet with President Bola Tinubu and engage with the Nigerian government to secure Kanu’s release from detention.

Similarly, members of the Labour Party (LP) caucus in the South-East Houses of Assembly have also called for Kanu’s release.

The lawmakers said the release of Kanu would separate genuine agitators from criminals and kidnappers as well as douse insecurity in the South-East.

According to the lawmakers, Kanu's prolonged detention was emboldening criminal elements posing as agitators to engage in unlawful activities in the South-East region.

Also, no fewer than 50 federal lawmakers from diverse political parties and regions in Nigeria have written to President Tinubu, appealing for Kanu’s release from detention.

The lawmakers urged the President to invoke Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Section 107(1) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, to facilitate Kanu's release from detention, and expressed belief that the action would significantly contribute to restoring peace in the South-East.

Nobody in the South East believes Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB are terrorists, only non-South easterners who want to protect their long failed "one Nigeria" believe so

These are women who ESN has safeguarded and are still safeguarding their ventures to and from their various farmlands. Something the federal or state governments cannot do for them

Aba women don dey protest for Nnamdi Kanu?

This man is a troublemaker. Instead of peace, he dey spread chaos. Women should channel their energy to more meaningful causes, not supporting someone who has caused so much division in the country. Kanu is not the solution!

You don’t have to blame black people generally. They see the call for self defense or self determination as a call for war. Igbos would always make an exception to embracing this misconception, because they are the originators of undiluted democracy

You sound so incoherent .
They do protest openly, which is same civil disobedience as sit at home. The only difference between you and developed nations is; you see a call for sit at home(civil disobedience) as a call for war

Keep living in self-denial! Do you know how many people died because they were following Kanu's orders? I mean his orders to kill, maim, and destroy. Did you obey the order?

They are always supporting criminals. Dem use criminality swear for these people?

Same way they were asking for Evans the kidnapper to be freed and pressing the government to help free ekweramandu from UK's detention.

When Kanu was roaring like a lion from his hole in Isreal, they didn't say anything to caution him, they were hailing, calling him the new Ojukwu.

Some people's heroes are synonymous to causing trouble and running away.
One ran away in 1966 before the coup
Another one ran away in 1970 after losing war
2017, Albino ran away
We are waiting for when the Pandora Criminal too will run away

Of Kanu was Kanu was killing people, do you think the 5 Governors of his area would back his release?

Stop believing anything you are told, if Kanu eas killing people, Igbo people would be shouting it, not none Igbos

Calling for sit at home amongst your members is not problem but forcing non IPOB members to sit at home is a crime.
