Hannania: Greetings to you. Please is it better to source for Ivory Coast resident permit or Benin republic resident permit for this? I’m trying to find out which one is easier to get and less visa processing time. Please don’t air me big man 🙏 thank you |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 9:11am On Jul 21 |
Zammy123:If you can legit get the residence permit of either of the countries, then you can apply after just 4 months of issuance. Before your AD, the six months would have been met. Benin republic issues AD every month, but it's limited 2 Likes |

I guess they are fully aware that Nigerians use Ivory Coast as a faster route to get to Deutschland. Eudes: |

Odingo1: This is not true. With the new law, you can apply for citizenship even without PR as long as you fulfill other requirements. In order to qualify for citizenship with C1 after 3 years, you have to show a proof of what they call BESONDERELEISTUNG(special achievement).... |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Odingo1: 5:44pm On Jul 21 |
Ndkings1:That other requirements is working atleast two years on Blue card, 18b or 18d, voluntary work, without having PR you can apply but if you have live and work in Germany for two years you are qualified for PR . After application for citizenship it will take at least 1 to 2 years for processing, why not convert the work permit to PR so that you will have freedom to choose any work or business you want to do while waiting for processing period. What do you think special achievement is, if not part of tax payment, volunteer, special athlete etc, you must have contributed something for that 3 years which qualify you for PR benchmark, so I know what I am telling you, student who studies for 4 years cannot qualify for German citizenship even having C1, you must convert your student visa to work permit. |

Hannania: Hello, how you doing? Pls I need your advice, I was sent a mail from a university that I applied for admission in Germany on 16th July and I was supposed to take a test before 18th, unfortunately I didn't see the mail until this morning. I checked their portal and saw that the test had been going on since 15th of April and I they sent the information just two days before the deadline. What should I do about this please |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by magnificient7: 5:27pm On Jul 22 |
Ozommadu: If it's an online test, you can probably click the link to see if you can take the test although the deadline has passed. If it's possible, then go ahead and take the test. After which, you can write the school and explain. If it isn't possible, no issues. Still write an email to the school or program coordinator, with a good reason and if possible, proofs why you missed the deadline. That should suffice. Otherwise, you can't really do anything. Ich wünsche dir viel Elfolg |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Ozommadu: 5:36pm On Jul 22 |
magnificient7: It's an online test and the link closed after 18th, I've written a mail to the school but I'm yet to get a feedback. What I didn't get is how they sent a mail of an exam that was supposed to end on 18th on the 16th of same month...is that how they do? I applied in three schools, but only this one has sent me mail. I'm tired |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 6:12pm On Jul 22 |
Ozommadu:German schools are very critical about deadlines. So prepare your mind that they might not give you another chance. I see that you've sent them an email. Send them a reminder today and every 3 days until they answer you. When they do, I can advise you based on their response |

Hannania:ok sir. I am a university finalist, by God's grace. The way this country is right now, travelling out is the only thing that keeps me motivated to study. Please I want to know if there are fully funded German scholarships (masters) Nigerians can benefit from, that also covers some other expenses like travel cost and maybe housing. I know of ptdf (Nigerian) but I heard they only allow their scholars to stay back, if they get an actual (full-time) job in the country at the end of their program. I know getting a job is not impossible, but it's not really certain one would. I know DAAD is nice too, but it requires at least two years of working experience, that I don't have. 1 Like |

Immacharles:I did as you suggested and it was collected from me. I was quite surprised because the man I met was the one I’d heard so much about and had been praying not to meet but as my luck would have it he was the one. I was just Lucky he happened to be training a new security guard so he probably didn’t look at the date on the pass and just collected both the document and the pass from me. 🥹😆😆 1 Like |

captainbangz:The bond for PTDF is just on paper. The whole idea is to have "skilled" Nigerians through the scholarship scheme. Scholars actually have liberty to stay. Germany has the cheapest education in comparison to countries like USA, UK, Australia and Canada. There's no tuition in public schools (which are the best), and the semester fee been charged averages €300. Some schools like DIT presently have €72 as the semester fee. For this reason, scholarships are not readily available. There's a German government scholarship called Deutschlandstipendum , it's €300/m of which some people use it to apply for CAT A and lower the block account fee. DAAD is the best option you have. Another option is to look at schools that have your course of interest then scout for scholarships peculiar to only that school or the course. That's the best way to see higher chances. PS: Considering the low cost of education, you'll most certainly find zero to negligible scholarships that cover flight 2 Likes |

Hello my people, how is everyone doing today, who else received a similar message and please what was your next line of action. Dear Applicant. Your registration is active. We are sorry but the waiting time for an appointment in your category is clearly over one and a half year now. It is not possible at this moment to give a more precise prediction. The reasons are the number of registrations and the shortage of staff. I regret not being able to give you a better answer. Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards, Consulate-General of the Federal Republic of Germany Lagos Rechts- und Konsularreferat / Consular Department |

Dear Nairaland Family, My brother recently completed his registration for a long-term student visa appointment with the German Consulate in Lagos. He received the above confirmation email, but it did not include a specific appointment date. Instead, it mentioned that the waiting period is over a year, and he will only be notified of the exact appointment date four weeks prior to appointment. I would like to know if this is the standard message others have received after registering. Should we be concerned about not having a specific appointment date right now? Is it advisable to cancel and re-register until a selected appointment date appears on the portal? Also, does the waiting period for Category B visas start counting from the day he received this confirmation email? I appreciate any insights or experiences you can share. Thank you!

spik007:Nothing new here. It's the message they send when you make enquiries. It has been so for over 2 years. The waiting time is currently 22 months and counting |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by tsquare17591: 12:30pm On Jul 24 |
Hannania: Thanks @Hannania for your response on this. So, that means the counting for the appointment date for my brother has started counting from this month since he fell under category B which is 18 months waiting period at least coz he registered this month. And by calculation if I'm right, he should expect feedback regarding the exact appointment date anytime from January/February 2026. Omo this is serious oo,,,, no be joke at all😑 |

Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 12:50pm On Jul 24 |
tsquare17591:It's not 18 months. It's currently 22 months. Those who booked Sept 2022 are yet to get appointment (exception goes to 1st to 5th ). That's 22 months , and it's counting |
Re: General-german-student-visa-enquiries Part 8 by Hannania(m): 12:53pm On Jul 24 |
Retrogirl:Mpower service universities in US and Canada. They pay directly to the school. For Germany, you're not paying tuition. The current amount for block account is 11,208. Starting from sept 2024, it will be €11,900. If you can get a loan that will allow you block the amount, the embassy doesn't care. Understand that you'll only get €934 from this amount monthly for 12 months while you're in Germany which serve as living expenses. You can open a blocked account with one of the providers listed below: Expatrio Fintiba Studely Coracle Drop Money ICICI Bank 1 Like 2 Shares |
