TECNO Camon 30 Pro 5G Review by Mimiko3: 1:47pm On Jun 25
When one thinks of a budget smartphone, it often brings to mind images of devices with significant compromises in exchange for affordability. However, the TECNO Camon 30 Pro 5G is here to challenge that notion. Priced at approximately $280, this device targets developing markets and competes with brands like Xiaomi and Realme, offering a surprisingly robust package for its price point.

Design and Display
The TECNO Camon 30 Pro 5G stands out with its unique rectangular design, reminiscent of the Pixel 6 series and Sony Xperia phones. Unlike the prevalent rounded designs, the Camon 30 Pro's sleek, metallic sides and a rear panel covered in a leather-like material lend it a premium feel. Despite the lack of ingress protection, the device feels solid and lightweight in hand.
One of the most striking features is its 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2436 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. This combination ensures a sharp and fluid viewing experience, ideal for content consumption. However, the in-display fingerprint reader can be unreliable, often necessitating the use of a lock code for unlocking.

Internal Specs and Software
At the heart of the Camon 30 Pro is the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, a 4nm SoC that delivers impressive performance for a budget device. Paired with 12GB of RAM, the phone provides a smooth and responsive user experience. Navigating the interface is fluid, and app stutters are minimal, making it suitable for everyday use.
The phone runs on Android 14, overlaid with TECNO's custom HIOS skin. HIOS offers various customization options, similar to other custom UIs like HyperOS and ColorOS. While it enhances the user experience, it also comes pre-installed with third-party apps, some of which cannot be uninstalled.
Battery life is another strong suit, thanks to a 5,000mAh cell and 70W fast-charging support. This setup ensures the phone can easily last a day of typical use, although intensive tasks like gaming can drain the battery faster.

Camera Performance
The TECNO Camon 30 Pro 5G surprises with its camera capabilities, especially for its price range. It features a 50 MP primary camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a 50 MP front camera. The primary and ultra-wide lenses capture photos with decent contrast and balanced color tones, leaning towards a warmer look without oversaturation. Outdoor photos maintain highlight details well, even in bright sunlight.

In low-light conditions, the camera is competent. Photos can appear somewhat soft with noticeable noise in darker scenes.

The only issue Nigerians have right now is the high rate of the dollar.

$280 isn't such big money but due to high rate, the phone is N660,000 which is huge money.

But the Phone is one maddd phone anyone will be happy to buy
