It Is Risky For Faceless People To Lead Protests – Dele Momodu Warns Protesters by ify2016: 12:58pm On Jul 25
Dele Momodu, veteran journalist and the publisher of Ovation Magazine, has expressed concerns over the planned youth-led nationwide protest scheduled for August 1 to 15.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Momodu said there are risks associated with protests led by faceless individuals.

Drawing from his extensive experience with protests, which spans 46 years since his time at the University of Ife in 1978, Momodu stated: “I have 46 years experience in protests, since 1978 at the University of Ife.

[b]“There’s nothing riskier for a nation than faceless people or a mob leading protests. It is the right of everyone to protest but not the right of anyone to cause mayhem… And government has the right to protect lives and properties.”

He reiterated that while protesting is a fundamental right, it must be conducted in a manner that does not lead to violence or destruction.

The protest is being organized in response to the escalating economic challenges facing Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of living.

Some Yorubas are the cause, giving a legitimate, lawful, peaceful protest a tribal and regional affiliation,(you want to practice regionalism through the back door)now the organizers are faceless…

Let’s see who you have to blame now,go and mark attendance on that day by region and tribe!

The protest should be peaceful unless the police and army decide to shoot unarmed protesters like they always do!

Some yorubas caused it by making it a tribal and regional thing,so the north withdrew..on that protest day, they should go and mark attendance on the protest field by tribes and region.

The Ronu register will be used to check if you should protest or not, infact, Oro worshippers are even taking over the protest, they want to use their local masquerade to protest, keep off all ye settlers.

All I know is that ANY IGBO that calls for protest or joins the protest is a BAS...RD, according to Igbos, "no Igbos should be a part of this protest in any way", unless you are a bas......rd.

Exactly..

This is a testament that BAT is indeed a better politician(emphasis on politician) with a steely ball and ability to cunning his way through politically. Today's opposition are more concerned about online followings, condolence visits, and reacting to the most mundane of issues even when it means doing it from faraway Dubai.

When he was on the other side of the divide, he was able to galvanize folks including the henchmen from every region while being at the forefront to raise a dust about GEJs administration to get his way and bring us to where we are today.

As much of his fan that I am not I still have a huge and massive respect for his technical know-how and cunningness in the game of politics because this exactly is the name of the game...Dirty game.

It isn't a game for cowards and Mr Niceys......

This protest has no head nor tail it's the will of the Masses. Because everyone is badly hit his draconic economy policies angry . He removed subsidy and floated the Naira at the same time, he lied to the masses that they will get the subsidy removal dividends but none has been delivered. To crown it all Nigeria has returned to paying subsidy through the back door and everything still remain worse. PBAT has only 3 options to halt this protest
1. Reverse the subsidy removal and peg the Naira at 750 NGN
2 Open all the land borders for massive duty free food importation
3. Resign

Jargons. What do you mean by faceless individuals?

Even though I will not support any protest at the moment but what makes you think you have a face and the average man suffering in Lagos doesn’t? You think only popular people have the right to protest?
