Don’t Participate In Nationwide Protest – ECWA Tells Members by Ibrahimcoomasie: 8:39pm On Jul 25
The Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, says as a denomination, it would not be part of any protest against the government of President Bola Tinubu.

It warned its entire members in every part of the country not to partake in any protest against the government.

A statement issued by ECWA Public Relations Officer, Rev. Ibrahim Kassim, said, “ECWA as a denomination wishes to inform the general public that we are not part of the planned protest, and we are calling on our members to disregard the action in totality, and not to participate in any way.

“We are all aware that protests can take different dimensions as witnessed during the EndSARS protest when hoodlums infiltrated the protesters and wrecked serious havoc that led to the loss of many lives and properties.”

He noted that considering the volatile nature of protests in Nigeria that may be hijacked by miscreants and result in humongous damages, members of the denomination should stay clear from any protest in the country.

The statement assured members that ECWA leadership was doing everything possible in advising governments at the local, state and federal levels to take proactive measures in addressing the plight and suffering of citizens in the shortest possible time.

Peaceful protest is a fundamental right in a sane country but any form that might leads to anarchy, maiming, looting, killing should be frown upon and rejected. In all these the common man will always bear the consequences

Yet you, a supposedly sane person were not able to, when called to do so, name a single one of the policies implemented by the current administration that you are aware has benefited the Nigerian people. undecided

Everyone is now worried that the protest has been hijacked..

A protest is supposed to be spontaneous, not one that is being planned as if it's NLC that's going to conduct it.

I am currently listening to an Obidient space and they are disowning sowore's Days of Rage.

There is no truth to that nonsense claim! The Civil Rights movement in the United States was majorly planned protests and walks. undecided

As we speak now some foreign people are entering Nigeria from the north. They are likely ISWAP and Al Qaeda. You people will seat in the comfort of your home abroad and be encouraging people's kids to go and face Ak47s.

ISWAP and Al Qaeda have been in Nigeria for what seems over 3 years now. Why are you suddenly linking their presence in Nigeria to the protest when the insecurity created by their presence is all the more reason to protest this Government's refusal to tackle insecurity head-on? undecided

Read to understand. Yes they have been in Nigeria but more of their foot soldiers could be coming in from neighboring west African countries. They are not stupid and are aware of the planned protest.

Understand that planned protests do turn out successful or that ISWAP and other foreign groups have been contributing to insecurity in Nigeria for many many years now making it unreasonable to try to tie their actions to a protest that is yet to take place. undecided

The leadership of ECWA and all the denominations asking their members not to partake in protests were the same set of people who were protesting the senseless killings in Jos - Plateau to the state government house.

The protest was led by the current ECWA President- Rev( Dr) Stephen Baba Panya and other member of CAN. So what has changed with this particular one? Abi what is the difference between the bad governance of insecurity @ state and national level? Abi hypocrisy!

These so called religious leaders watch as Tinubu used some filthy lucre-seeking Balaam agbadorian bishops to legitimised his illegality and spite Christianity while they kept going to Aso rock to line their pockets. Terrible and sad. Elijah of the Bible days ain't got no time for all these shitty behaviours by political charlatan religious leaders in cassock.

Those people who said " ibos are not interested in the protest" are the ones always getting triggered when they see others pulling out of the protest.
They can't hide their bitterness.

Gbam. Yet they don't want to protest in their own region. They never condemn their own governors. Lots of hypocrisy.
