Ever since the proposed "End bad government" protest has been announced, the Tinubu government and it's paid servants have made it looked like it is a taboo to protest. It has been issuing threats and fingering opposition politicians like Peter obi as instigators.
These are highly unnecessary. Protests and demonstrations are necessary part of the democratic process.
In October 2020, the end SARS protest woke Buhari from his slumber.
Occupy Nigeria protest in 2012 led by Tinubu prevented president Jonathan from embarking on removing petroleum subsidies.
Same Tinubu removed fuel subsidies the very day he took oath of office. Nigerians in their docility gave him the benefit of the doubt.
14 months into the removal it's been a tale of unprecedented woes, pains and hunger.
The government response to the threat of protest has been unpalatable to say the least. The government has not given any meaningful assurance on how to end the suffering.
Rather it keeps reminding us of what happened on 20-10-20 when under instructions, military men shot and killed peaceful protesters while they were bearing the national flag.
No one wishes for a protest. All we want is a responsible government which is prepared to listen to the yearning of the citizen's call.

The manner you guys rush to thrash any post or comment on bad governance, one would imagine you are enjoying in this era. Highest they pay you is 50k monthly not even enough to buy basic provisions that could last you for a week. So shut up and join the call for good governance

Somehow I applaud those coming out to protest.
They are patriots.
Personally I won't come out to protest. Reason is we have a reckless government and irresponsible leader who is more concerned about his power than the life of citizens. End SARS shooting comes to mind..

Tinubu has become more jittery than ever, having more meetings this week alone more than he did in the past 12 months.

What does 30k BMC crooner knows??

Go and loot shops first and see if you won't be killed..

You have right to peaceful protest only, not right to loot, steal or destroy what doesn't belong to you.

You are within your right to protest, but If a protester loots or damages public property, he would be taken out, and there is nothing you are going to do about it.

There's a huge difference between this protest and the ENDSARS.

This protest is Nationwide and triggered by hardship brought about by endemic corruption, unpatriotism and sabotage perpetrated by those given opportunity to serve the Country, insecurity with loss of lives in many parts of the Country, deplorable public infrastructure, steady rise in unemployment, just to name a few.

The ENDSARS protest only took place in a few States. Many Northerners did not understand what that protest was about as the challenges experienced by many youth in the hands of SARS in the South were rarely heard of in the North.

The security agencies only have to ensure the protesters and venues are safe, and any form of violence, prevented or curtailed.

Security agents attacking protesters will only lead to widespread anarchy. Protesting isn't a crime and isn't demonstration of hate towards the government, but a call for the government to sit up.

Something has to be done regarding the endemic levels of corruption in Nigeria. At this level of corruption no policy, no matter how brilliant would be implemented for the benefit of Nigerians.

The corruption levels are nauseating and irritating at this point.

It's only in Nigeria where a government official was captured taking bribes, but moves about freely from one political office to another!

Of course, this would be the outcome of such governance.

Sorry but any protester that loots or engage in civil disobedience like damaging public infrastructure would be shot at.

And unlike EndSars, we have run out of sympathies.
