Pstbon:

Imagine a chain, long and heavy, forged not by your hands but by the hands of your ancestors. This chain, linked by the mistakes and missteps of generations past, can bind you, restricting your movement and clouding your path. Today, we will journey together to uncover the effects of the chains of yesterday, and the covenant steps to breaking generational curses by the instrumentality of the truth and power of God's word.

In many African cultures, the concept of generational curses is deeply ingrained, influencing our daily lives, relationships, and destinies. These curses, often believed to be the result of ancestral sins or broken covenants, can manifest in various ways, leaving us feeling trapped and helpless. But, beloved, there is hope and freedom in Christ Jesus.

Before we delve into what generational curses is, I want you to pay close attention to these four powerful scriptures, they are vital keys to your quest for freedom:

Problem: There Are Things You Do Not Know

Obviously, there are certain things you do not know, nor understand about your family background, what transpired before your birth, and others generally about you.

Solutions:

• God Said You Should Call Him: Jeremiah 33:3, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not”.

• God Made His Plans for Your Life Clear: Jere.29:11-13, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart”.

• Jesus Recommends Knowing The Truth as Requirement for Freedom: John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”.

• The Holy Spirit Has Been Assigned to Help You: John 16:12-14, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you”.

Understanding Generational Curses

Friends, Generational curses are very real, they are spiritual obstacles passed down from one generation to another due to ancestral sins, disobedience, or broken covenants with God. The Bible references these curses, notably in Exodus 34:7, where it states, "Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation."

The good news is that through Christ, God has redeemed us from the curse of the law, we are made free already, BUT, there are things we must know, believe and understand for what Christ has done to be effective in our lives.

Major Causes of Generational Curses

Generational curses are believed to be negative patterns, behaviors, or circumstances that are passed down from one generation to another. These can manifest as chronic illnesses, financial difficulties, or even repeated patterns of sin. In Africa, we often hear stories of families where a particular issue seems to plague generation after generation.

1. Idolatry and False Worship

One of the most significant causes of generational curses is idolatry—worshiping gods other than the Almighty. This is a common thread in many African traditions where ancestral worship and other forms of idolatry are practiced.

Exodus 20:5 (NIV): "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me."

When our forefathers engaged in idol worship, they unknowingly invited curses that could affect their descendants. It is a spiritual principle that whatever altars our ancestors established, good or evil, can impact us today.

2. Breaking God's Commandments

Another cause is the continuous breaking of God’s commandments. This isn't just about big sins but includes seemingly small disobediences that accumulate over generations.

Deuteronomy 28:15 (NIV): "However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you."

Our communities often overlook how ignoring God’s commands can lead to generational curses. From dishonoring parents to engaging in dishonest practices, these actions invite spiritual repercussions.

3. Involvement in Witchcraft and Occult Practices

Witchcraft and occult practices are deeply rooted in many African cultures. While some may see them as harmless traditions, the Bible explicitly warns against them.

Leviticus 19:31 (NIV): "Do not turn to mediums or seek out spiritists, for you will be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God."

When ancestors engaged in witchcraft, they opened doors for spiritual bondage. The repercussions are felt by subsequent generations, often manifesting as persistent problems that defy logical solutions.

4. Sins of Injustice and Oppression

Injustice and oppression, especially when committed by those in authority, can bring curses upon their descendants. This includes land grabbing, exploitation of the poor, and other forms of societal injustices.

Jeremiah 22:13 (NIV): "Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness and his upper rooms by injustice, who makes his neighbor serve him for nothing and does not give him his wages."

Many African families suffer from generational curses due to the injustices committed by their forefathers. The oppressed cry out, and their cries reach God, invoking His judgment.

5. Covenants Made with Evil Powers

Sometimes, our ancestors made covenants with evil powers for protection, wealth, or power. These covenants often come with stipulations that bind future generations.

Isaiah 28:18 (NIV): "Your covenant with death will be annulled; your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand. When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by, you will be beaten down by it."

These covenants create spiritual bonds that need to be broken through the power of Jesus Christ.

Major Effects of Generational Curses

1. Persistent Poverty and Lack

Poverty can be a significant sign of a generational curse. When an entire lineage struggles financially, despite hard work and efforts, it indicates a deeper, spiritual issue.

Deuteronomy 28:15-17 warns of curses that bring financial hardship due to disobedience: "However, if you do not obey the Lord your God... all these curses will come on you and overtake you: You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country. Your basket and your kneading trough will be cursed."

2. Recurrent Sickness and Diseases

Some families suffer from recurring health issues that cannot be explained by medical science. These sicknesses can be traced back to generational curses, as seen in Deuteronomy 28:60-61: "He will bring upon you all the diseases of Egypt that you dreaded, and they will cling to you. The Lord will also bring upon you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed."

3. Marital Distress and Family Breakdowns

Generational curses can manifest in broken marriages, infidelity, and domestic violence. Many families experience repeated cycles of marital distress, leading to divorce and separation. Malachi 2:16 says, "For I hate divorce, says the Lord, the God of Israel." Broken covenants in marriage can lead to ongoing generational strife.

4. Untimely Deaths and Tragedies

Families plagued by untimely deaths, accidents, or mysterious tragedies often bear the mark of a generational curse. These patterns can be seen in the narrative of David's family, where violence and premature death seemed to follow (2 Samuel 12:10-12).

5. Addictions and Bondages

Addictions, whether to substances, gambling, or destructive behaviors, often indicate a generational curse. These strongholds keep individuals and families bound in cycles of destruction.

Romans 6:16 warns, "Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"

6. Spiritual Stagnation and Backwardness

When a family experiences spiritual stagnation, lack of growth, or recurrent spiritual attacks, it often points to a generational curse. These families may find it difficult to experience breakthroughs or fulfill their God-given destinies.

Hosea 4:6 highlights the consequence of rejecting knowledge: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children."

Covenant Steps to Freedom

1. Repentance and Confession

The first step to breaking free from generational curses is genuine repentance and confession of ancestral sins. Daniel 9:4-5 sets a powerful example: "I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed: 'Lord, the great and awesome God... we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.'"

Take time to seek God, confessing the sins of your ancestors and asking for His forgiveness. Acknowledge the wrongdoings and sincerely turn away from them.

2. Renouncing and Breaking Curses

After repentance, renounce and break every curse in the name of Jesus. Galatians 3:13 assures us, "Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: 'Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.'" Declare your freedom from these curses, standing firm in the redemption Christ offers.

Pray with authority, breaking the power of every generational curse over your life. Use the name of Jesus to command these curses to be nullified and void.

3. Renewing Your Mind with God's Word

To maintain your freedom, it is crucial to renew your mind with the truth of God's Word. Romans 12:2 instructs, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." Saturate yourself with scriptures that affirm your identity and freedom in Christ.

Memorize and meditate on verses like 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"

4. Establishing a New Covenant with God

Establish a new covenant with God, dedicating your life and family to His service. Joshua 24:15 proclaims, "But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Make a conscious decision to follow God wholeheartedly and align your family with His will.

5. Engaging in Fervent Prayer and Fasting

Fasting and prayer are powerful tools in breaking generational curses. Mark 9:29 reveals, "This kind can come out only by prayer and fasting." Set aside dedicated times for fasting and fervent prayer, seeking God's intervention and deliverance.

Pray for spiritual insight and revelation, asking God to expose and dismantle every hidden curse affecting your family.

6. Walking in Obedience and Faithfulness

Finally, walk in obedience and faithfulness to God's commands. Deuteronomy 28:1-2 promises blessings for obedience: "If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God."

Live a life that honors God, shunning sin and striving for righteousness. Your obedience will open the doors to blessings and break the hold of generational curses.

Conclusion

Beloved, the chains of generational curses do not have to define your destiny. Through Christ, you have the power to break free and walk in the fullness of God's blessings. As we have explored, the effects of these curses can be devastating, but the steps to freedom are clear and attainable. Embrace repentance, renounce the past, renew your mind, establish a covenant with God, engage in prayer and fasting, and walk in obedience. Your freedom is within reach, and your future is bright in Christ Jesus.

Let us pray together:

"Father, I come before You in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge the sins of my ancestors and repent on their behalf. I renounce every generational curse over my life and declare my freedom in Christ. Renew my mind with Your Word, and help me to walk in obedience and faithfulness. I establish a new covenant with You, dedicating my life and family to Your service. Thank You for setting me free and leading me into a life of blessing and abundance. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Walk in your freedom, dear one. The chains are broken, and the blessings of God are upon you right from this moment.

Please show me in the bible where Jesus or the apostles or the early christians talked and preached these things you talked about.
We just allow humans to use God's words to tie us down and keep us in some mental slavery called generational curses!
Let me tell you, your freedom in Christ is assured once you repent...all negative connotation or other things are swept away at your new birth.
But because someone wants to keep you mystified and attached to himself he begins to talk about things like generational curses which you can't understand...
Leave all these things, live simply as a Christian, evil will leave you alone...
Poverty isn't a curse...it's a state of being...and it's not forever as long as you're content and live by your means with what you have.

Jehovah's Witnesses organization don't judge anyone rather we are working towards gathering all honest hearted and sincere individuals throughout the earth so if we are avoiding some kind of dressing it's not a law rather we are trying hard not to create a wrong impression in the society where we live so as not to affect interested people.

There is no law that says women shouldn't wear trousers neither is there any that says men mustn't wear beards! smiley

Before you run away i want you to learn what you missed while in Gods organization! smiley

Intelligent people don't view God's representatives as individuals we are OBEYING rather we are WORKING with them to fulfill what God promised in the scriptures.

Take for instance Moses who was used to free God's people in Egypt intelligent Israelites like Joshua and Caleb view Moses as one of them that Jehovah is using to direct His worshipers on how to return home as in the land where their forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were buried.
But what about APOSTATES like you? They are viewing Moses as a demigod so instead of working with him like one of them they are envying his role in God's organization so they are looking for faults but as for intelligent people like us we view them as God's fellow workers in achieving what God promised that's why we are WORKING with them.

Today the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses are like Moses while those working with them are like Joshua and Caleb so most of you will perish along the road to the promised land for stopping to work with God's chosen ones.

Remember that Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years instead of just 40 days so people like you began doubting Moses blaming him for taking them through a long journey the same is happening today the GB is taking us through the wilderness of this system of things of course just as Moses never entered the promised land with the Israelites the Governing Body will not enter into Paradise earth with us because Jesus will take them away from the earth to rule with him in heaven {John 14:1-3; Luke 12:32} but as for people like you i pity your soul because by the time Jesus is giving us the everlasting blessings {Matthew 25:34} which Jehovah promised those who endure to the end {Matthew 24:13} you won't be anywhere to found.

Thanks for your time!smiley

I dont quote you to read whatever low IQ JW brainwashed regurgitated garbage you have to type.

I'm responding not for you but to show other sincere and honest hearted followers to see how empty headed anyone who left God's organization has become.

Jesus said:

“When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it passes through waterless places in search of a resting-place and finds none. Then it says, ‘I will go back to my house from which I moved,’ and on arriving, it finds the house unoccupied but swept clean and adorned. Then it goes and takes along with it seven different spirits more wicked than itself, and after getting inside, they dwell there; and the final circumstances of that man become worse than the first. That is how it will be also with this wicked generation.” Matthew 12:43-45

God's organization has helped you in time past but now that you're trying to format all the good things they taught you Satan is filling the gap with evil thoughts that's why you can't speak as a believer only running up and down the forum looking for people to troll while they are talking about their faith! wink

You Jw's used to point fingers at other churches back then for allowing their female members wear trousers and males keep beards. Back then I used to argue with your members including some of my close friends who are JW's and the explanation I used to give to them is exactly what you typed below 👇🏼

MaxInDHouse:

There is no law that says women shouldn't wear trousers neither is there any that says men mustn't wear beards!

Your members knew there was no law against trousers or beards but they had to argue and obey your seven lords and saviours in warwick.
