Bags Of Rice Donated By Tinubu Government Repackaged In Kogi, Sold Out To Residents

The bags of rice recently distributed by the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government have been seen in a video being re-bagged for commercial sale in Kogi State.

The government had earlier said it gave 20 trucks of 25kg rice to each state of the federation for free distribution to vulnerable households.

Each truck is said to contain 1200 bags as one the interventionary measures of the FG in tackling the surging food inflation in the country.

In the video obtained by SaharaReporters, residents were seen stating that as against the directive that the rice should be distributed for free, some persons are repackaging them to be sold in open market.

“The rice shared by the federal government is being repackaged for sale. As you can see on the body is written “not for sale”, however we accosted these persons trying to repackage it. They said they got the rice from the Agriculture ministry in the country” the incensed residents noted in the video.

They lamented the rising cost of living and how the intervention meant was also subjected to fraudulent practices.

“It’s unfortunate, I bought a tin of Beans for N380 yesterday and see what they are doing to this rice now” another person said in the video.

It would be recalled that the government said it is committed to tackling food inflation, rolling out interventionary measures to tackle the food inflation.

Distribution of palliatives has always come with corruption and corruption allegation in Nigeria.

During the COVID-19 era, different palliatives meant to be shared to residents of different states were seen hoarded in stores, a development that led to anger among citizens.

If Nigerians can unite , we can hold these people to be accountable .

Let us assume NLC allowed tribalism to divide them, I can tell you they wouldn’t have even be able to negotiate 40k minimum wage. But with unity they negotiated 70k

Look at ASUU. Government succeeded in registering another academic union thereby reducing the influence of ASUU and till today they cannot get their demand.

I would like to appeal to our Yoruba brothers to take it easy with this tribalism because last last it will consume all of us while the politicians will be laughing. By the way politicians are united and have no tribalism among themselves.

Now, who do we blame? Tinubu or these useless governors or idiots citizens who delights in causing harm to their neighbors?

All Nigerian politicians will definitely be reserved for another hell. I am not sure they deserve the normal hell

To begin with, we don't have a comprehensive data of our population. Second, the shared food is not enough to get to every household. How else are we going to explain to this government that sharing of food or money won't work cry. Make the economy function well and let the standard of living be good for all. Shikena

God knows that many Nigerians are wicked. They may do worse than Tinubu if given power. Even the ones mocking Tinubu's government might make dollar 3000 if given power to rule.

How can you re-package rice to sell when it was sent for free, even in this economic situation.

The President should look for better ways to solve Nigeria's problem so that the issue of sending food to states for relief or whatever won't be considered. We should have enough food without thinking of moving food to states.

If the economy gets worse, I tell you, the North may be a great "opposition" to Tinubu's re-election. And note that the North is not like the East that some usually come online to challenge or criticize. Are you afraid of the North.

Please you people should pray that God will have mercy on us for the blood spilled in rituals, kidnapping, other killings etc. The cry of those blood may be what is making the economy not go forward.

Let's repent and move Nigeria forward. Let the President look for good advisers and re-strategize

God bless Nigeria.

The federal government is lazy when it comes to listening to citizens and providing for their needs.

There's no point in loading rice into trucks when everyone has a Bank Verification Number (BVN).

Instead, place a monetary value on the rice and send its worth directly into people's accounts.

Then, release the rice into the market at a subsidized rate; whoever is interested can buy it using the money sent to them by the government.

Palliative sharing only partially works in Lagos State, but in the other 35 states, it's a complete looting spree by the political elites at 100%.

Instead of donations, they should make these things affordable for the common man. Distribution doesn't work in Nigeria

Una don start again oh! We don't want a repeat of 2020 when hungry citizens started ransacking warehouses full of yet to be distributed palliatives while the #EndSARS protests was going on. Better distribute the donated trucks of rice quickly and fairly before the #EndBadGovernance protests.

The same rice was diverted in Katsina this week and they were caught..

The average Nigerian is EXTREMELY CORRUPT despite all the churches and mosques, but they will be blaming the presidency, Senate, HOR e.t.c

After stealing the rice, they will steal call politicians corrupt as if those ones came from Jupiter and Mars.

Nigeria is not designed to work. The country should either go back to regional government or split to 6 different parts so that people would have a sense of nationalism.
