Sir. Well-done.
Am anxious. Are you trying to say bandits are not worrying farmers?
Good evening.

They are not. It's only on news on Nairaland bandits are everywhere. All the Fulanis knows that when it's planting season, they vacate the farmlands only to return November after last harvest of the year.

We the citizens are evil,
The main problem isn't the government but the people,

It will shock people to know farmers only wear tartarred cloths to disguise but are raking 400-600% percent profit per harvest which is highly unfair

Go and farm!

Madam, I am expanding my farm to even 1,200 acres by July 2025. Trust me I am a farmer and when I make any comment about food production in Nigeria, it is sealed. I have travelled across states and stayed in various farm settlements to know things first hand

I'm a farmer. As I write, I am in a farm settlement where I reside fully since last year. I am critiquing as a stake holder not an outsider. Farmers these days want to take advantage of buyers which was never the case in the days of our fore fathers.

According to your analogy, farmers are safe to return to their farms?

I have been staying in a farm settlement since two years. Yes, farms are safe. We may say in some zones, farms are not safe, but it's not the entire country

Hello bro,
Give me your farm address and details, let me know what you deal on.
So we can do business.
Thank you.

I meant if the core farming villages in the north are safe for farmers to return, can you give three examples of safe farming villages in the north?

People saying market people are talking advantage of others to inflate their prices. Please, why is this happening at these period. Well when you have greedy leaders who have cornered every opportunity for you to survive, won't you use your scarce resources for survival when you are not sure of the future. Nigeria is now the battle for the fittest. Nobody wan die. Greed from the top caused it

"Farmers can't access farms" is a chronic Iie.
In Benue where herdsmen àttàck people in the bush, they still go to farm everyday, Benue is the largest yam producer in Nigeria.
U can say farm supplements are expensive leading to high price but farmers can't access farm is a chronic Iie.

Say this thing in Kaduna market and they will beat you to a pulp. The way you guys gaslight and lie ehhhh

Seek forgiveness, Tinubu wasn't imposed by Yakubu, Tinubu won the presidential election squarely.
APC votes declined from 12 million in 2019 to 8 million in 2023. That showed enough that many voters were done with APC. But the split of old PDP to new PDP, LP, NNPP and G5 gave APC undeserved another victory in 2023. Add PDP, LP and NNPP votes together and tell me your figure. Furthermore, deduct G5 votes from APC votes.
You guys need to be thinking smart and direct the blames to the right quarters

When you are ready to stop lying, let us know.

Yam seedling costs 400 Naira max. So, wgy should yams sell so costly ?

A plit can accomodate 600 tubers and would only need some table spoons of NPK fron start till harvest, so why the expensive price. Most Nigerians thesedays heartlessly and indiscrimately increases the orice of their products to take advantage of their fellow human beings. Thieves

Last I confirmed somewhere in the north was 7k for a big tuber.

First, you've forgotten how many villagers were killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Benue state - mainly yam farmers. Yam supply has greatly reduced.
Then you forgot how many farmers in northern Nigeria have to pay bandits millions of naira before planting and harvesting. Cost of yam (food) production in those places are in all-time high.
You also forgot the sudden rise in food transportation costs because of fuel subsidy removal.
Now you forget that those farmers would also buy other stuff from the same markets as other people, where inflation has increased all prices. Won't they survive??

If you're indeed a farmer, you would know these things.

Boss you have time to reply to so called "nairaland farmer"

APC supporters no get sense

Have you been to a local market before? not too big 100 tubers of yam is about 400-500k here . I stay in Ekiti and that's the reality here. 100 big tubers of yam is about 800k here. so transport them to Abuja from ekiti and add the transportation cost, so how much do you gonna sell it later?. I bought 100k yam seed in the month of March for just 300 heaps, rain did not drop, and many did not germinate. from 100k farm, I got just 5 tubers from the farm days ago, even it may be around August before I can get another five tubers again.

I think the problem is the price for bag of rice.....I noticed the price war between north and south sellers of farm produce. I also noticed when rice was increasing garri sellers increased theirs from the south.

Your Yam Farming Economics 101 seems fantastic.
Let's break it down a bit:

Seedlings - N400 ea
Bush clearing and tilling - free
Labourers for planting - free
Germinating Rate - 100%
Weeding - free
Pesticides - free
Staking - free
Fertiliser - "few tablespoons" (so free)
Payments to Bandits - free
Irrigation - free
Labourers for Harvesting - free
Transportation: farm to market - free
Exhortation by various govt agencies and police on the road - free

TOTAL Cost to plant 600 tuber = ₦400 x 600
= ₦240,000

GROSS SALES = N10,000/tuber x 600 tubers
= ₦6,000,000 or ₦6m

NET PROFIT = ₦5,760,000 !!!

Chai. Ol' boy! What a massive profit margin!!!
And you are wasting your time pounding the streets looking for paid employment.

You should jump into it and cream the huge profit.

Or sell your own for ₦1000 per tuber and still make a huge profit of ₦1000-₦400 = ₦600/tuber

When are you going to start your own farm? The profit margin is fantastic!!
