The best solution to all these problems is for everyone to go back to farm fully- armed even if it is locally made and defend yourself. It is now a life and death issue. We can die of hunger because of fulani herdsmen.

Yam seedling costs 400 Naira max. So, why should yams sell so costly ?

A plot can accomodate 600 tubers and would only need some table spoons of NPK fron start till harvest, so why the expensive price. Most Nigerians thesedays heartlessly and indiscrimately increases the orice of their products to take advantage of their fellow human beings. Thieves
A Mallam has told me his yam seedlings is #1300 last per one.
A plot cannot accommodate 600heaps.
Have check d cost of heap making, land clearing, cost of staking, transport to farm daily, feeding, herbicides, weeding.
If it is easy go & farm your own.

6k for a tuber of yam?

This is unbelievable!

Maybe I should start thinking of going back to the village to take up farming as a full time job o
It's true, I bought a tuber of yam in Ile epo market, Lagos in June for 6500k a tuber for wedding programme,
I just manage to buy 10 tubers totalled 65k

Don't talk like that!many of tiv lands were hit by bandits especially gwer east & west for decades most villages there are desolate many youths abandoned farming for charcoal making.
Charcoal is made from the bush, if they abandoned farming because of bandits, they won't resort to charcoal because they still have to do it in the bush, it all boils down to which one makes more profit.

my friend I don't know what u are saying but I do believe u are speaking out of ur Asss. Where do u know in Benue state. Go to Zaki biam where majority of the yams comes from and ask them.
U have mentioned a place in Benue at least, what I am waiting for now is the pictures of the farms they can't access because of herdsmen.
I was in Benue 3 weeks ago and I saw them going to farm in several LGA.
Bring evidence, don't shout "go to..." For u to make claims u must have evidence not "go to..."

You fools try to act dumb because you're trying to cover up for the ineptitude of your brother in power.
All the major food-producing regions in this country are under attack by marauding herdsmen but you pretend not to know this is the cause of the high cost of food

JASONjnr:
How can you not get it.....

The North is playing the same politics with it....

I've explained this already....

They're hoarding food and using Boko Haram to cause food scarcity and price hike.

Recently, in Kano they said that the Emir tussle will cause more people to carry arms and might be more dangerous than what Boko Haram is doing....

You should know that the North is really trying to control this government but they never said anything all through Buhari's regime.

I get it very well.

I get it that ThiefNuibu’s over smart politics has caught up with him and he should fully bear the consequences.

Did we Yorubas not follow JagaBandit to make Buhari president after lampooning Jonathan?

Did we Yorubas say anything when Obasanjo was president?

What goes around comes around. If we like let’s continue with this tribesmen nonsense that shortchanges everyone. Let’s continue.

EloquentMedia:
UNLESS YOU UNDERSTAND YOUR ROLE IN SOCIETY, YOU CAN NEVER MAKE ANY MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTION.

According to the Greeks there are three types of people on earth,

- the idiots,

- the tribesmen, and

- the citizens.

Studies show only 10% of Africans are citizens.

The remaining 90% are either tribesmen or idiots.

1. THE IDIOTS.
When the Greeks used the word "idiot", they did not use it as a curse word.

Idiots are people who just don’t care.

If they write exams, they will cheat.

If they are in government they will steal.

An idiot does not care at all, if he eats bananas he throws the peels anywhere instead of putting them in a trash bin.

According to the Greeks, some societies have more idiots than tribesmen and citizens.

2. THE TRIBESMEN
The next set of people are tribesmen, these are people that look at everything from the point of view of their tribe.

These are people that believe in you only if you are part of their tribe.

It can be terrible to have a tribesman as a leader, he will alienate the rest.

When the Greeks talk about tribes, it’s not just about ethnicity, they also consider religion as a tribe.

A great percentage of Africans are tribesmen, because they view everything from the point of view of their tribes.

They trust only their tribesmen.

3. THE CITIZENS
The last group are citizens.

These are people that like to do things the right way.

They will respect traffic light rules even if no one is watching them.

They drive within speed limits.

They respect the laws, won’t cheat in exams.

In government they won’t steal.

They are compassionate and give to others to promote their wellbeing.

Citizens often promote projects that benefit everyone.

The Greeks called this group the citizens.

Some countries have more citizens than tribesmen and idiots.

Others have so many idiots.

A tribesman can become a citizen through orientation.

And an idiot can become a citizen by training and constant enforcement of the law.

But things fall apart if you elect an idiot or tribesman to lead you if he has not been reformed.

Where do you belong?

Are you an idiot, a tribesman or a citizen?

Reflect about your life.

Reflect about your country and Africa in general before you answer.

Good for you but not for everyone in the long run, since you are not encouraging others to divert their resources to farm until prices drop to an equilibrium level, below which they will move their resources again to something else that is CURRENTLY more profitable.

Do you understand this basic economics

Let me ask you do you know the average cost of setting up a farm per acre ?

Now, I have solid blue prints and working experiences on cultivating as much as the entire food produce we can cultivate in the tropics.

Do you know that apart from exotic crops like cashew, sweet corn, that 500,000 Naira adequately covers an acre of land production of almost any crop ? Have you heard this information anywhere in your miserable life before ? So, while farmers spend 500k per acre, they want to sell and make 2.5 M per 500k spent per production yet they do large acreage.

Madam, I am expanding my farm to even 1,200 acres by July 2025. Trust me I am a farmer and when I make any comment about food production in Nigeria, it is sealed. I have travelled across states and stayed in various farm settlements to know things first hand

Good. You are the sort I like to relate with. Someone who would speak practical things. Now imagine if we had more people involved in farm across all States.. not a bunch of entitled people who are leaving farming for God knows who but who wants to dictate prices which produce are sold in the market!
.yes, the sellers are being greedy at this point but that's the power of demand and low supply

All the presidential candidates Igbos have supported massively since 1999 have brought prosperity to Nigeria.
