In as much as this 10k per yam in the north sounds exaggerating, i have seen 6k own.

Before APC came into power when I was in Minna the Niger state capital, I do buy 5pcs (set) of yam for #300-#800 max.

When I was in Abuja 2017, my sister told me she bought a tuber for #700 and I said she wanted to do me 419. I never imagined a tuber of yam would get to 1k let alone above 5k. All thanks to APC.
so sad when reminiscing back to just few years ago to what fate has brought us now with the aid of dumb majority voters.

Nothing in the picture says that it is your farm.

You have been on NL since December but no thread on your farm until now. Even the agricultural thread below only corroborates what you are accused of doing- propaganda lies for this useless ThiefNuibu government of ebilokan continuity for Buhari’s failures.

Yam seedling costs 400 Naira max. So, why should yams sell so costly ?

A plot can accomodate 600 tubers and would only need some table spoons of NPK fron start till harvest, so why the expensive price. Most Nigerians thesedays heartlessly and indiscrimately increases the orice of their products to take advantage of their fellow human beings. Thieves

You lied, I bought at the rate of 1k per one seedling this year

I have been staying in a farm settlement since two years. Yes, farms are safe. We may say in some zones, farms are not safe, but it's not the entire country

I am still waiting for you to give me the examples of the communities that are safe because I want to go and stay in farm settlement just like you to farm too?

I am still waiting ooo...

"Farmers can't access farms" is a chronic Iie.
In Benue where herdsmen àttàck people in the bush, they still go to farm everyday, Benue is the largest yam producer in Nigeria.
U can say farm supplements are expensive leading to high price but farmers can't access farm is a chronic Iie.

Why are you talking like this...what he stated is pure truth most farmers can not access their farm due to Insecurity and that leads to food scarcity and you re here countering what is glaring in the face of everybody nawaoo..farm supplement as you said Na you know what you mean might be contributing factor actually but you see this insecurity, that's the main reason

I stay in ikole, which market is that pls, odo ooro market, ikunri, ayedun, ayebode, ? just tell me. 50 big tubers of yam is 200k here sold in my presence in same ayedun market. 100 tubers of yam average size is about 500k here sold in my presence. what size is yours that you bought 5 tubers with 1500 naira.
bro you said 50 big tubers of yam is 200k? At least half of one big yam can serve family of 4? So why are they lying that they bought yam 1m... And bro I can buy 5 tubers of yam for #1500 in any of the market you mentioned which is better than buying garri with same amount. Let's call a spade a spade, we are making things hard for ourselves just for profit making and everything is all on Tinubu.

The ones that bring theirs from North give usual lie of fulani herdsmen..while the ones that brought theirs from farms located in places where fulani herdsmen are not available..those ones know they cannot even lie too that it is fulani herdsmen so they claim it is because of transport that they are selling a tuber of yam for 5k..the same tuber of yam that some other market in lagos sold the same size for 3k..the point is, this is nigeria..People will always find a way to extort each other whether government is bad or good..even during Jonathan era..it happened...and it will continue to happen forever because an average Nigerian is greedy...who is the government?? The people at the government are the reflection of the society ..it is from the same society they grew up from and became leaders. They did not fall from heaven....for example look at ordinary citizens doing fraud 24/7 , what will happen if such people go into politics or find their way to the top or the government ?? They will even be worse than this present nonsense government ..the change begins from everyone..even armed robbers and assasins are also shouting government....why is you and I not an assassin and also blame the government for it ?? Or we are not living in the same nigeria where the assasins are living ??

Terrorists are stealing the yam and beans?

I know you didn't expect yes as an answer to your rhetorical question but that's also the case. Both terrorists and bandits are not only killing, kidnapping and chasing away farmers but also harvesting (stealing) farm products including cattle rustling. That's how worse things have become for Nigerians.
Only few farmers are doing farming activities in the north these days because of killings and kidnapping. And those few farmers are not even sure they would be allowed to harvest, they're just taking the risks

This is a national debate, it is not a new or hidden development. This problem has been with us since 2007 when Boko Haram started but it is getting worse every year. Now, food scarcity is manifesting as a result of sustained insecurity since 2007 which means we're reaching the breaking point. The issue of bandits is now adding to the fragile situation.
Anyone with common sense would know that the problem now is the question of what was the number of farmers before and what is the number now?

You are the one saying people can't access their farms, show us videos of the location where farmers can't access their farms, u are saying something, I have been telling you to back it with evidence and u turn around to say I should provide evidence, I should provide evidence for you that farmers can't access their farms?

You asked the right question as someone with common sense, so provide us with the numbers.
Societies work with what they can prove, Nigerians work with assumptions and stories but want to be like those societies.
Provide us with the numbers before we talk about other factors.
I started my farming project in 2012, I have been added to the number of farmers, I have farms in different locations and looking to increase my farming scope to a multinational farm that covers different crops in different states, it's not only me, I know alot of young goons that have ventured into agriculture in the last 10 years, but u are here saying farmers are reducing since 2007.

The picture u sent is not a back up to whatever u are posting.
SteaIing of farm products is not a new occurrence, if have a huge farm of maize or ground nut, IocaIs steaI it in large quantity.
The farms in northern Nigeria is not a representation of "few farmers", it's rainy season already, take a trip round the north from Benue to Kaduna to Niger, the farms you see in different villages, communities and settlements is a representation of "few farmers"?
Seriously??

Benue is the major producer of yam in Nigeria, Benue is a hot bed of insecurity, now take a trip to Benue, go round the 23 local govts there and confirm if "most farmers can not access their farms", the food insecurity we face today was exposed to the core when Buhari cIosed borders, we don't produce enough to feed ourselves in this 21st century and most Nigerians are not interested in agriculture, so to justify themselves, Nigerians start selling the narratives that bandits don't allow farmers access their farms.
Agatu LGA was a hot bed of Fulani invasion, go there now, they are farming rigorously.
Go to Zaki Biam, go to Logo.
U are all make up stories without any form of data, evidence or statistics to back it up and start selling it.

And that is why a foodstuff seller who bought a tuber of yam at benue for 1200naira decided to sell the same tuber of yam for 5000naira in lagos ?? 400% profit on just one tuber of yam?? Smh...

The funny thing is that those will bring all these things from the farm do not even claim it is fulani herdsmen or whatever that caused it..the excuse they all keep giving is that it is cost of transportation to other places that are making it expensive..and you begin to wonder if it is only a single tuber of yam that they will transport at once that made them to want to gain 400% on just a tuber of yam yet the same set of people will say government is selfish , heartless and greedy..meanwhile you are a citizen are doing exactly the same behaviour displayed by your government..you as a citizen is greedy too..because how will someone buy a yam for 1200 and sell for 5k..and claim it is transport that caused it ...is he or she buying their own fuel at 10000naira per litre ?? Or those that decided to sell that same yam for 2k in lagos are not transporting too Or they do not like money too?? Smh.. it is well

^^^
Unfortunately there is no morality in the free market system. Agents will try to make as much profit as they legally can. That's just the way it is. But the heartlessness and selfishness of capitalism is an entirely separate discussion from the activities of violent herdsmen across Nigeria. These rogue herders and bandits (or whatever we want to call them) do affect farm prices negatively. If the violence continues without let up, food prices will eventually surge even higher, no two ways about it.
