“ He wrote: “Immediately after the news of the sudden death of our kindred brother and biggest political export from Anambra state to the world, in the similitude of Ikemba Nnewi, Senator Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah (Ebubechukwuzo Nnewi); my 78-year-old father, Sir Osita Nzewi (Ugwunnia Nnewi) placed a call on me”.

That was a sad loss.

However the late Ifeanyi Ubah was never the biggest political export from Anambra state to the world. He was never ever near the biggest. Eulogizing the man is alright, but giving the wrong impression is wrong, even in the contemporary times.

What happened to the likes of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alex Ekwueme, Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chuba Okadigbo, etc?
In the contemporary times, what about Peter Obi, Andy Ubah, Dora Akunyili, etc? Those are far bigger names, known by Presidents and world leaders for their achievements and contacts.

Let’s pray that the family of the deceased senator is comforted.

May God rest the soul of Distinguished Sen. Patrick Ifeanyi Uba, Ebubechukwuzo Nnewi. He represented my Senatorial zone, Anambra South in the National Assembly.

Secondly, I like what you wrote about him not being among the topmost political figures from Anambra, either historically or in the contemporary times.

Ofcourse, there were/are the likes of Dr. Joy Emordi; Sen. Lilian Uche Ekwunife; Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife; Dr. Nwafor Orizu; Chief Willy Mmaduaburochukwu Obiano; Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo; Sen. Victor Umeh; Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju; Chief Chris Azubogu; Dr. Ben Nwankwo etc, in addition to the names you listed.

Late Sen. Ifeanyi Uba unique bullish style of politics made him really popular...but men dey o wey pass am well well, in not just politics but in all ramifications. I guess that was your point.

Fact is, he has made his own impact. It is really sad that he died so soon. He was still quite young. However, death has nothing to do with anything else. It comes when it comes.

May God comfort his family, and indeed Ndi Anambra ni'le.

He was not. He was a member of PDP and sponsored TAN for Jonathan. Join YPP and got elected twice.
