Are You Protesting Or Not, Give Your Reasons by Sapasenator: 7:46pm On Jul 29 |
Hello my people, the much awaited date of Aug 1st is around the corner and I can sense palpable tension the air as regards the protest scheduled to commence in a few days time. Even the government is tensed and we can see actions like a counter protest in place even though it is not a good move. What I expected FG to be doing now is a daily broadcast by the president try to assure the people but he is not doing that. What are your feelings and thoughts, are you gon be participating, or support those participating or are you totally against the notion of a protest. If you are protesting or supporting those who are, what are you out to acheive and your core reason for joining? I know there is severe hardship in the land and hyperinflation the likes we have never seen before have totally crippled the economy. Are we going to be demanding that FG reverses it's policies on floating of the Naira and re-introduction of subsidies? What demands are we making from the government and at what point are we going to call of the protest when those demands are met? Remember the recent protest in Kenya was about a specific government policy which was immediately reversed by the Ruto led government to placate the protesters. Are we going to be calling for the overthrow of government? If you are not in support of protests, can you articulate your reasons for not supporting bearing in the the people's rights to protest enshrined in our constitution. We would like to hear your reasons. As a patriotic Nigerian, I will like to come out clean about my views on the protests, I hate protests or being in a mob of crowd as most of the time , the protest is easily hijacked leading to destructions of properties and infrastructures. These were built with hundreds of millions of dollars and I would hate to see them destroyed. Also, the country is way damaged after the Buhari administration that I do not see anyway the country is getting better anytime soon. I am willing to place a bet on my position. Except pure regionalism where the center is weakened or outright disintegration, we are too divided to have a successful democracy. I will not protest because I do not believe it will yield any result and do not want to waste my efforts or risk my life on a juice that is not worth the squize. It is a race to the bottom from now onward my people. I will not protest because I am sure our leaders are selfish and totally clueless how to run a country like Nigeria in the 21st century. They don't know what to do about Nigeria no matter our demands, from FG to governors and the senators, most are clueless and we will keep going in circles and I would have wasted my time. Now am I against protests? By all means no! The right to a peaceful protest is fundamentally enshrined and protected by our constitution, you are free to protest if you are inclined to. Get a placard like VDM and write your demands as these will resonates in the media across the world. Stay safe or die trying, It is better to try and fail than do nothing-expecially when you believe in your cause.

I WILL NOT PROTEST! THE PROTEST HAS POLITICAL MOTIVATION. It is a protest fueled by Obidients and their affiliates of a particular region to make the 'masses' feel the people are angry that Peter Obi was not announced even when he came a distant 3rd and he is the best person. THE PROTEST IS MEANINGLESS! TINUBU IS WORKING. 3 Likes |

helinues: Are you inferring that people who protest are not productive? Like VDM and the Kenya protesters? Like APC that protested under GEJ, all were unproductive? 2 Likes |

benuejosh: I think I agree, the protest may have a little bit of a political undertone like all protests and also I do not see it achieving any desired outcome but I disagree on the performance of this FG. After one year, I think they have failed the people and impoverished Nigerians just in a relative span of one year. You will not be saying the truth by denying the obvious realities on ground. 1 Like 1 Share |

Obiedun: Why do you think it is uncalled for? Do you expect the people to do nothing in the face of hardship caused to a greater extent by the FG at the inception of this government? Can you beat a child and ask not to cry? Actions and reactions are equal and opposite. Oni boseri nau! 1 Like |
