The one on the left is RIN, the one on the right is Rex .... Omo I still remeber when we used to sell rex at 1950 per bag then.

This detergent is not the real product of omo brand, but then we call it omo cos it is blue and omo is a brand on everybody's mouth.

I don't think it's the Omo atleast not the original one because no matter the quantity you use it will never foam as much as the original Omo detergent.

I believe our old Yoruba mamas call it "Suf" or something like that..

Surf came before Omo, made by the same Lever Brothers.
It was also packaged in paper tetra, like Omo before Omo came to ste@! the show.

Later on, some un-branded detergents like this hit our markets and that was when its standard started falling.

Lots of Nigerians who learned soap-making waay back were involved in this, as startup entrepreneurs then.

A bunch of it is from caustic soda and a few of additives and coloring.

This detergent peel the back of my fingers that year, hard and does not dissolve completely unlike modern detergents, but wash better than the green canoe, Solo and Awe soap
