Just like Nigeria, Uganda also inherited the British Army Ranking Cadre as a result of a shared colonial heritage.

The only Field Marshall Uganda has ever produced was:

“His Excellency, President for Life, Field Marshal Al Hadji Doctor Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Seas and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular”

Amin essentially promoted himself from Colonel to Field Marshall after staging a military coup to overthrow the sitting President Milton Obote.

Additionally, he officially proclaimed himself as the uncrowned King of Scotland.

Iliteracy is a bad thing grin
I can't stop laughing, 😃 this Idi Amin na one rare mad man

Field Marshall is academic cheesy

I have crammed the rank since childhood but never seen one in Nigeria Army.
In Western countries, it's awarded during major wars that bring different armies together. For example, if there's a major conflict and the armies of Nigeria, Ghana, S Leone, South Africa and Zimbabwe join forces to fight together, the general appointed to command that force will likely be named a field marshal. But in some countries - like Egypt, Russia, etc., it's awarded even during peace time.

You see that waka from Sergeant to second Lieutenant is very hard, same as Police.
Many stayed around that rank for very long time but once you enter second Lieutenant, at least enjoyment don start be that

Field Marshal is very rare, I think it involves winning many wars
It typically involves commanding the armies of several countries.

So now like this, a Second Lieutenant who just graduated from the Defense academy, will automatically be higher in rank than an Army Warrant Officer, who has probably spent up to 30 years in active service..?

Is that how the system was screwed to be..?

Na structure.

Na so the thing be person fit just graduate make him Papa mate dey do "Shaun Sir!' for am.

But the experience of the Master warrant can't be watered down or ignored, there's always that respect for it (I think).

But come ooo how can the Master Warrant or the ordinary recruits not know what they were in for or the eventual positions they would be from the beginning?

They could have gone to the Defense academy.

I think it's similar to a Bricklayer and a Civil Engineer.

No matter the long years of experience of the bricklayer. Civil Engineer go still dey in charge of the big project.

My P.O.V tho'

At what Rank do they get an Orderly, or an ADC
ADC are for GOC's, Corp commanders, Commandants of tri service institutions like NDA, AFCSC Jaji amongst other institutions, service chiefs while orderlies are also assigned to them while senior officers from a certain rank are entitled to orderlies only especially when they don't hold a command appointment.

What if someone gets to the Last rank in Nigeria won't they promote the person to Field Marshall?

Again, which rank would you get to before you can be appointed as Chief of Army staff and all that.

You can be promoted from a Brig Gen to Chief of Army staff, if the president chooses to do so. Automatically, you become a lieutenant General

So the president can jump ranks and choose/promote someone.

Where is Brigadier General in the ranking?
I thought it is Brigadier General after Colonel, isn’t it?
After Brigadier General comes Major General; then Lieutenant General and General.

The officer corp cadets will start at 2nd lieutenant which will be higher than anyone lower who has served even 100 years.....it's same 8n the police where officer cadet starts as Asp......a small boy of 23 years giving orders to his father's mates in the rank and file.

PAYnDRIVE:

The Nigerian military is a significant factor in the country’s insecurity; we must face this reality. Not all situations can be resolved with guns and bullets. The military’s decision to violently remove Boko Haram’s leader contributed to the insurgency’s growth, and now they struggle to manage the situation. The same pattern is evident in the East, where the military's brutal response to protesters led to the rise of unknown gunmen.I quite agree.

The #EndSARS protest, initially peaceful, escalated into violence and looting after the military intervened. Given the widespread frustration and hunger in the country, the risk is high that any attempt to suppress upcoming protests with force could have severe consequences. The northern regions are particularly mobilized, and forceful measures could potentially destabilize the nation further.

Peaceful and constructive solutions are crucial to avoid worsening the situation.

What about the motive and events of January coup in 1966, it didn’t bastardise it?

Before 1966 the army was already bastardized as so many northern boys were taken from secondary school before completion of standard 6 to join the army without due process being followed all because they wanted the north to have more numbers in the army.
That is why Buhari couldn't produce his certificate as he was a beneficiary of the policies of sardauna and Ribadu's father who was minister of defence then.
