Three students of Cross River State University have died in an auto crash while travelling to their homes following a two-week closure of the institution to stop students from taking part in the hardship protest slated for August 1st.

The students who boarded a bus, were on their way to Ogoja in the northern part of the state when the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.

It was gathered that the accident occurred near Ikom in the central part of the state, along the Calabar–Ikom highway.

An eyewitness, simply identified as Ndoma Akunobor, who was an occupant of the bus, said the three students who lost their lives were from the departments of Microbiology, Plants Science and Biotechnology.

The names of the students have not been ascertained at the time of filing this report.

The management of the university, in a circular, had ordered the closure of the institution for two weeks beginning from 30th July to 12th August, ahead of the nationwide protest slated to commence on 1st August.

Oh my... lives have started going

It's a sad reality that lives will be lost one way or the other due to this.

I saw one clown still come out to say no life was lost during the endsars protest. I know two people who died, not at the Lekki toll gate but in their homes from police stray bullet.
Sadly, One was the only child of his parent.
All we ask for is good governance which will translate into better living for all.
Is that too much to ask for?

If there was no protest coming, the school won't ask them to leave. Hence, they would be in school and still be alive.

Therefore, their death is related to the protest

They did not die because of the protest break, they were all 100 level students traveling back home to meet with their families and friends after finishing their exams.
