Rapid Response Squad (RRS) led by its Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye and Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Taskforce) captained by its Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele this morning carried out a joint visibility patrol and fitness walk for its personnel in readiness for emergencies in the state.

Areas covered by the teams included Ikeja, Old Toll Gate, Oshodi, Ojota, Iyana Oworo, Third Mainland Bridge, VI, Ikoyi, Lekki, Lagos Island, Apongbon.

The visibility patrol is to be extended to other parts of the State today.

The Lagos State Government has deployed men of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) to the streets ahead of the nationwide hunger and hardship protests billed to commence on August 1.

The heavy presence of police officers of the RRS and Task Force were seen on streets around the state Wednesday, as they engaged in patrol exercises.

The operation took off from Alausa, Ikeja through the old Tollgate, Ojota, Ogudu, and Iyana Oworo to the 3rd Mainland Bridge axis.

Some officers were also seen matching through Lekki streets to the Lekki Tollgate area.

This is as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume on Wednesday, called on Nigerians not to embark on the planned nationwide protests amid the economic crisis in the land.

Akume who made the call during a press briefing in Abuja, said President Bola Tinubu’s administration, is making concerted efforts to solve the myriads of challenges confronting the nation.

Suffering people for nothing . These men are under paid and not well taken care of,live in dilapidated buildings and barracks yet at the slightest sign of unrest you drag them to the streets torturing them.
Do the right things from onset and there won't be any unrest and don't only remember our security agencies when there are signs of unrest the government budgets billions for a few men of the national assembly and peanuts for hundreds of thousands of the nation security agencies

These people. It is absurd that we waste resources, instead of doing the right thing. Most of these police will still collect rogger and shoot you if you refuse.

This is what peaceful protest is all about. Police protection, at least those thugs will not attack peaceful protesters.

what we crave for is security of lives and property. if the government was proactive and always deployed like this to fight crime, will there be need for protest?

To all the protesters, be vigilant and be sober because the protesters hijackers are roaming about seeking to hijack the protest and cause problems.

how many are they, even at that, most of them are poor and living miserably.

visit them to see for yourself or look at their barracks and see the level of needs they have. They might even lead the protest tomorrow.


Govt and the officers should stop exhibiting opulence, we see their shoes and watches including the lifestyle of their children, a clear example is the son of the DSS boss or the brother of Abba Kyari the former jack baur of NPF
