Chykason: "Ways and Means", in other words, they want to allow the CBN to print worthless paper present to the unsuspecting masses as real currency. That increase in minimum wage had to come from somewhere, only problem is that in this case, that somewhere is actually nowhere. Basically, what that means is that $1 will go from being #1600 to something like #3000 in a few months. How do I know all this? Basic principles of economics, coupled with the fact that this is precisely what they did in 2021 and $1 went from #360 to more than #550 in just a few months. Anyone who still has faith in this government seriously needs attention from an experienced psychiatrist. 7 Likes |

Chykason:ways and means refers to interventiory ploy use by cbn to mint more currencies so as to finance deficit buget or debt service ....advanced economics don't use this tool cuz of it's detrimental effects and spirals but since we r in a country controlled by Satan apprentices who cares...........loot more to them is gain more ...... Put on ur seat belt ...with 10 percent increase.......#1000 will be #100 .....if u operate expansionary monetory policy ......Rivers ,kano,Lagos,Abuja, Anambra ,abia will suffer for it..... If u practice contractionary policy......kaduna ,jigawa, kogi, plateau, kwara, benue will regret 2 Likes 1 Share |

Brendaniel: I understand that it was this same Tinubu that pushed for the "ways and means" even during the Buhari regime. Now that he has direct control over the CBN you can expect the government to continue robbing the masses blind over the next few years. When you cut through all the artificial grammar you will then see this lending for just what it is, robbery in broad daylight. 3 Likes |

alsudan: APC is an Islamic Fundamentalist party like Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood Party which led to widespread damage to Egypt's economy and ended up with protests against the party about 10 years ago. Buhari tactfully left a possible 24 years of Islamic rule in Nigeria. Buhari 8 years. Tinubu 8 years, Shettima 8 years. All to have ample time to create an Islamic Republic of Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |

what This means is that according to existing laws or regulations, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is allowed to advance (or lend) money to the federal government, but only up to a certain limit. The limit is set at 5% of the federal government's revenue from the previous year. In other words: - The CBN can advance funds to the government, but not more than 5% of what the government earned in revenue during the previous year. For example, if the federal government's revenue for the previous year was β¦10 trillion, the CBN can advance up to β¦500 billion (5% of β¦10 trillion) to the government. This provision is likely in place to: - Prevent excessive borrowing and debt accumulation - Ensure fiscal discipline and responsible financial management - Maintain the independence and stability of the CBN It's a way to regulate the amount of money the government can borrow from the CBN and prevent potential financial risks or instability. Some people wants it to be increased to %10 while some responsible folks wants it to be reduced to %3 3 Likes 1 Share |

LandMann: You might have a point here. Let me give an example. I remember in 2021, when the $1 went from #360 to more than #500 over the span of a few months, in addition to what seemed to me like the onset of runaway inflation. It was obvious then that something was desperately wrong(a reasonable assumption considering that the price of crude oil was at its highest price in decades). It was all a big mystery until Obaseki, who had recently decamped from APC to PDP revealed that the CBN had printed some 60 billion of worthless paper and injected this "money" into the National economy. This discovery led me to engage in a heated argument with an associate of mine, who happened to be uneducated. No amount of logic or explanation, no matter how pedagogical would convince him to move from his stance that the government had done the right thing by injecting so much of this "money" into the economy. As far as he was concerned, that was more money that will find its way into the hands of the common people and therefore it must be a good thing, and it was his illiteracy that prevented him from considering that he might be wrong, so you might be right, maybe they deliberately refusing to fund education to keep most of the masses illiterate and dumb, that way, when such buzzwords as "ways and means lending" gets thrown about the illiterate will take it to mean something other that what it actually is, which is robbery in broad daylight. 1 Like |

Ways and means is a way the govt raise money to fund projects in the country by telling the CBN to print more naira notes. Buhari printed several trillions of naira notes and the consequent effect is the free fall of the naira slightly above the worth of a tissue paper. Increasing it to 10% means printing much more than Buhari printed Tinubu promised to continue from where Buhari stoppe 1 Like |

This govt accused Buhari of this same "ways and means" issue and the CBN said it will not longer provide Ways and means to the govt. With this move, they will print more money and kill the value of the naira, increase inflationary trend and have enough to loot. Anyone expecting anything positive from Tinubu's govt is delusional 1 Like |

A government that says subsidy is gone is telling you they will increase fuel price!!! They have not yet started paying the #70k the price of fuel is now almost #1k per litre. Now they want to increase ways and means!!! The protest should be taken to the doorsteps of these fellas and let them be feel the heat. |

Lol.... Just like the change of the national anthem that the discussion started like play like play bybtedting the waters first, these people are toying with the ways and means. I have said it many times here, this government, after exhausting foreing borrowings, will turn to ways and means or additional taxation as the only other options left to battle the self inflicted economic disaster. Additional Tax is a no no for now, leaving just one option. The same ways and means they had lampooned Buharis administration for several times. The government is about to begin to borrow from CBN through ways and means again hence the discussion to increase the limit id being tested at the Nat. Assembly. The type of inflation that will hit Nigeria henh!, Zimbabwe will be like paradise compared to it. These mofos don't know what they are doing...get them out fast!! 1 Like |
