I pray and hope that the violence is curtailed and the protesters demands are addressed appropriately
yMcy56:

It's supposed to be a peaceful protest, hope its addressed and stopped soon before the hoodlums hijacked it, and that has been the govt concern as well, that it should be peaceful as planned.

While the protest concerns everyone, we still shouldn't wish the country more woes aside what the masses are already facing.
We shouldn't forget to be praying for the country às well.

While this started yesterday, we still have more gainers than losers in the market......24 gainers against 13 losers.
If some stocks decline, it could just be an opportunity to pick lower. Waiting and wishing to cash out on unfortunate circumstances is unpatriotic I Blvd.

LINKASSURE
Someone is asking about the Dividend, it was paid yesterday/today.
Bonus can't be immediate, will be added to your CSCS much later.

Exactly! We said it severally here, when it comes to bonus payment dates, it's not always stated like cash dividend because other protocols are involved before the crediting of investors' cscs account, all you should be concerned about is whether you are qualified or not. Once you are qualified, there is nothing to worry about you will see the declared bonus in your cscs account unannounced.

A Spotlight on Ikeja Hotels Plc
Ikeja Hotels has put the past boardroom crisis behind it and is now thriving. The company's 2024 Q2 unaudited financial statements show excellent performance across all bottom lines. Profitability seems to be synonymous with Ikeja Hotels, as evidenced by the significant improvement in earnings per share from 19 kobo to 62 kobo for the group within a year.
The comprehensive income is commendable.
The cost of revenue was prudent, allowing for a substantial gross profit. Notably, the company has diversified its energy sources, including diesel and alternative energy, and imports continental foods, fabrics, and lighting systems, which adorn the Sheraton Hotels.
In contrast, MTNN cited imaginary forex losses and excessive cost of revenue to justify the lack of returns on our investments. This raises questions for NSEMPA investors to ponder.
Upon reviewing Ikeja Hotels' past performance, I realised that I had overlooked a hidden gem in my portfolio. Despite the aggressive rebalancing I did in December 2023, I decided to retain my shares, and it has paid off. This is a testament to the power of long-term investment over short-term gains. My initial investment of N1.5M in 2022 is now worth over N11M in 2024, Keeping up with inflation in forex term and growth.
I must credit our esteemed Madam YMcy56, who brought Ikeja Hotels to my attention in 2021 and 2022. Her insight prompted me to conduct due diligence, which has yielded a bountiful harvest. Kudos to Ikeja Hotels' management team, whose expertise and experience are driving the company's success.
The cancelation of RI and bonus that was announced is highly welcome.
The reasonable non-executive directors' remuneration, capped at N2M per year, is also noteworthy. I am proud of the company's progress and its ability to navigate inflation through capital appreciation and dividends.

Ikeja hotel is selling below it's book value of N11.4. Transcorp hotel book value is N7.34 which makes it extremely expensive compared to ikeja

Ikeja With a P/E ratio of 11x compared to transcorp hotel at 158x tells you a lot in that sector

I don't see any other protocol here. We are just inefficient or many times just choose to be wicked in this Country.
I have always gotten my dividends, bonus shares/stock split and even voting rights immediately on due dates which is pre annouced, in all my foreign invested companies without making any effort.

"A note to NSEMPA's long-term investors"
The Customs Street Market Maker Conspiracy Against Dividend-Paying Stocks on NGX.
Market makers are manipulating OANDO plc's share price, driving it up based on anticipated future revenue, untapped potential, and current momentum. while neglecting the trillion Naira humongous debts and liabilities of OANDO plc.
This is precisely what they want - to create a false sense of value. Their strategy is to get you to buy when they're selling and sell cheap when they're buying.
Consider Zenith Bank, which has outperformed in all aspects (Top and bottom lines) but is now experiencing massive dumping. This is likely to continue due to the 70% Forex gains and Rights Issue priced higher than the current market price. The same applies to other SWOOT banking stocks.
Don't fall for the trap; investment is a marathon, and real wealth is built in a bear market. If market makers attempt to drive FUGAZ prices down to less than 10% of the three-month low recorded in May 2024. This should create an order block for long-term self-investors. The win is in the waiting.
Red days are imminent, but don't run away - you can't trade or compete against market makers due to their deep pockets.
Zenith Bank at N31 is imminent. The concept is to buy low from impatient investors and sell to greedy investors at substantial prices. This is the secret of institutional stock investors and market makers globally. The only winners are long-term investors.
Some may argue that NGX is not the place for this, but I disagree. I still hold fundamentally sound stocks that have returned 700% ,600%, 400%, and 350% in my portfolio. This is the time to invest in fundamentally sound stocks. The OANDO wave will soon obey the law of gravity due to lack of fundamentals. Don't be greedy with the current momentum; it has happened before. In a few days, Customs Street market makers will subject OANDO to the gravitational law of attraction.
OANDO enthusiasts, savor the uptrend while it continues.
NB- I'm out of OANDO.

You only realized the debts and liabilities of Oando and that they are manipulating the price after you exited?

By the way, the new stocks that you have acquired with the proceeds (and others in your portfolio) are also being manipulated by the same people that you claim are manipulating Oando.

@sophy17 I'm not defending inefficiency but the truth be told. We are not where we ought to be but we are also not where we used to be. I know other climes may be better but I believe with time everything will be real time. Take a look at the method of subscription in the current primary activities of the banks you will believe me that there is some improvement. Let's remain positive, we can get to our desired level in no distant time.

You are highly misinformed. I regularly review my portfolio and divest from any company where the risks outweigh the benefits. By the way, when did you first acquire OANDO shares? I don't have time for petty issues. My money, my sweat, my labour, my investment - I manage my portfolio myself. I use this platform only to share my personal experiences. I never advised you to buy, sell, or hold. I express my observations, and you can't silence me. If things improve tomorrow, I can re-enter OANDO without owing you an apology.

You are a million percent right! You can share personal experiences with no apologies to anyone.
But it is unnecessary to say Oando or any other stocks is rising because it is being manipulated by some fictitious hands.
The word' ''manipulate'' is something that is considered unethical and it is highly discouraged in the stocks markets globally.
If a stocks is on a bullish run but not supported by fundamentals, you can say so. And speculation may be the reason. But using the word manipulation is frowned at.

I first entered Oando around in 2010-12 but later sold to acquire other stocks and later re-entered when it came to down to N3-N5 in some years back after it had cleared all its court cases and issues with SEC and some major shareholders (before and after the 14 minority shareholders went to court again to seek for delisting)!

Oh, ye defenders of MTNN, you forgot to mention the truth - that MTNN is now being run on depositor loans taken from Nigerian banks despite the huge revenue figures. Where were you when MTNN siphoned $15 billion from the Nigerian economy? Nigeria did not collapse. Nothing will happen; no one is indispensable. MTNN remains a forex guzzler. I have never seen a company that loves our forex reserves like your beloved MTNN.
Long stories change nothing. I accept the truth that MTNN is undesirable yet unavoidable.

What the owners of MTN(Nigeria) have done is to de-risk their business by taking out all their invested capital (+gains) in dollars.
Now they run the company operations by borrowing money mostly in naira (bonds, CPs and direct bank lending). It's a deliberate move.
Just that now, they are systemically important to the economy. Their Profits will reduce due to the high cost of Naira financing.
