Tinubu has to return fuel price to where he met it. Then drastically cut cost of governance. That's the only way to end the protests & start regaining the trust of most Nigerians. 1 Like |

In as much as protesters didn't match to the homes of the likes of Dino and his co-thieves to drag Dem out,I don't believe this Protest will yield anything positive at the end We never ready for this country......Why moving aimlessly like a bunch of confused primary school pupils without direction, when we could have just matched up to our various LG councils and pour out our grievances there... Instead, una just dey patrol dey shout--"Tinubu must go ". . Tinubu wey dey follow Remi dey havest water leaf for aso rock garden 3 Likes |

GanagiBitrus: Instead of saying that Tinubu should return to the subsidy era, we should be telling him to run a transparent government, especially around NNPC operations, crude oil deals, etc. In the words of Chimamanda Adichie, "It's only when you encourage an opaque system that you create mafias." |

SmartPolician:Look, when you say Transparent Government, that's vague. It's not easily measurable. He can claim he is already running transparent Govt & argument will start. But when you demand for fuel at ₦200 per litre, it's a definite & measurable index. &of course to achieve that, it will involve doing several right things as pertains to good governance. |

GanagiBitrus: This government cannot reverse the price of pms to #200 per litre even if we have functional refineries. That's because the value of naira has depreciated greatly over time. However, what transparency does is to allow Nigerians access to information so they can calculate how much crude oil we export, refined products imported, how much made and amount saved, what they are used for, amount of subsidy pms paid every month, etc. If we have access to all this information, we will stop making certain demands. If you are transparent enough to put out the figures, people will know that it's stupid to make certain demands. It's just like a company generating 2 million per month and one man is asking for a salary of 1.5 million. Unfortunately, Tinubu cannot run a transparent government because he knows he's not clean himself. They are the beneficiaries of a dysfunctional country. |

SmartPolician:Your point is noted. Transparency is vital for Accountability & Financial prudence. But when we demand for ₦200 per litre, let the onus be on Govt to open there books & prove to us why it is not attainable. Nigeria is not a poor country. I believe ₦200 per litre is attainable, if they curtail the corruption & sharp practices associated with Subsidy. Then drastically cut down on cost of governance & Govt wastages +others. To me, affordable Fuel price is the best palliative you can give to Nigerians, not all these haphazard sharing of rice etc. |

GanagiBitrus: Bros, considering Nigeria's GDP per capita, Nigeria is a very poor country. In fact, with or without corruption, Nigeria is a very poor country. One state in America (say Maryland) is richer than Nigeria. What Nigeria needs is creative leaders to help harness Nigeria's untapped potential. Until we get those, Nigeria remains a very poor country and what politicians steal from is the little the country has. |

SmartPolician:Poor/Rich is a comparative word. Nigeria will be considered rich when compared with Niger republic. I used "Rich" in the context of ₦200/litre, which I still believe is possible, with financial prudence on the part of Govt. But your points are valid. |
