Governor Dapo Abiodun has slammed Nigerians lamenting the unprecedented hardship wrought by President Bola Tinubu’s harsh economic policies, describing them as “sore losers.”

In an interview with Channel TV on Thursday night, Mr Abiodun attributed nationwide #EndHunger protests to the scheming of politicians Mr Tinubu defeated in the 2023 presidential election.

Mr Tinubu “majorly won that election. And that says one thing, that those who want him to be president are more than those that didn’t want him to be president,” said the Ogun governor.

Mr Abiodun added, “The problem we have today is that Nigerians are sore losers. Rather than decided or accept the fact that if you want a regime change, wait for 2027. Don’t begin to sponsor faceless and leaderless protests under the guise that you are dissatisfied. Yes, the odd reality is not peculiar to Nigeria alone.”

Nigeria’s inflation hit 34 per cent under Mr Tinubu’s watch, while food prices have continued to spike astronomically. Though the International Monetary Fund lauded Mr Tinubu’s policies, fuel subsidy removal and unification of foreign exchange, the nation’s economy has taken a plunge for the worse.

Meanwhile, the Ogun governor’s statement has sparked reactions from several Nigerians online.

@FrannyOD, posted the video of Mr Abiodun’s statement, saying, “This incompetent criminal called Nigerians Sore Losers! – Dapo Abiodun. The Audacity of a fraudster to undermine the efforts of hard-working Nigerians demanding a better country.”

@sr_leky said, “Gov. Dapo Abiodun is one of the most useless Governor I have ever seen in my life. We must end #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria by force by fire.”

@pureMinD said, “Dapo Abiodun, a sitting Governor who lived large on tax payers money for 4years without any significant achievement in Ogun State and was rewarded with another 4years called Nigerians “sore losers” on a live television. Can you now see that we aren’t even angry enough?”

People wey Tinubu hold their destiny.

An eleyi that has a criminal record in America.. is insulting Nigerians.

I don't blame you tho, I blame the tribe that seems to love putting criminals in positions of authority.

But we will curtail and contain that propensity. We will never allow it spread beyond that region.

You have failed eleyi.

Tomorrow sauce kid will become oba or governor

Nonsense! If there was not this level of hardship orchestrated primarily by Tinubu's removal of subsidy, there wouldn't have been protests.

Mr Tinubu “majorly won that election. And that says one thing, that those who want him to be president are more than those that didn’t want him to be president,” said the Ogun governor.
The bolded is fallacy.
Going by INEC results, when you add all the votes for Atiku, Obi and other parties, they are far more than Tinubu's votes.
Infact only 36.6% voted for Tinubu while remaining 63.4% didn't vote for him and that represents people who did not want him to be president.

What a garrulous gibberish from a sitting governor. I earnestly hope someday the coin flips just so he can have a taste of what the politicians have melted on Nigerians.

Na wa o! It’s funny how some people can’t handle losing gracefully. Instead of acknowledging the progress Dapo Abiodun is making, they choose to throw tantrums.

This man is focused on building and improving Ogun State, yet all they do is complain. They should take a page from his book and learn to appreciate good governance instead of sulking like children.

Every state has its challenges, but Abiodun is showing what leadership looks like. The noise from sore losers won't change the facts on the ground.

Look at the kind of Fraudster ruling us in yorubaland. A man who was jailed for fraud in the US, came to Nigeria became Governor of a yoruba state and now orders Nigerians to shut up and stop crying about hunger.

A criminal per excellence, yet buffoons queued under the sun and rains to vote for him and hand him their destinies, because Tinubu said so.
