Yes I was of the same opinion when labour closed the doors of banks and shut down the national grid.Next time you run into them. You come down and make sure you clear them from the road as part of your rights

You have just exhibited what is in the mind of most of the protesters.
I only hope you are live at the protests ground and not just supporting them from the comfort of your house.

Exactly my thoughts. But why did the banks not report the revaluation in their balance sheet and leave it out from their comprehensive income. The banks might have brought this upon themselves
The windfall tax is a win-win---Banks made little profit in 2023 aside from FX gains. This one-off tax means banks can no longer significantly profit from FX speculation, likely leading to a stable Naira.

On a serious note what will it cost the government to provide food or snacks to show solidarity. How much is he planning to use in building back the unwarranted knocked down legislative chamber. Do you know the quantity of food 500million can prepare even at this time given directly to the right person
Anything to reduce violence and destruction and ensure peaceful demonstration is a goal..
But on the other hand spending for protest from political leaders is a two edged sword.. It really depends on the leader involved.

As for Rivers, there are already Strong major divisions across personal n political lines aside hunger, he shouldn't and can't even try it.

How does this protest reduce hunger levels? Given yesterday's chaos, isn't it likely to exacerbate the very problem it aims to address?
The protest is tag,end bad governance. And you can take a trip to Kenya to ask the youth what they achieved in thr protest. The government was more interested in suppressing the protest instead of welcoming it and working round it to avoid the violent type..Have you seen the kind drastic policy change in kenya now. The genuine cut in cost of governance in alll quarters by 50% even with subsidy removal and forex unification can feed Nigerians well.

It is you that will commit suicide and not me if nse crashes today.
And you think Kenya will be better off in the long run because of that protest.
Go and ask Egyptians how their country is faring today compared to those years before the uprising.

Will kenya be better tomorrow...Mr time will say.And for Egypt I was not following it and what was the youth demand.
And for kenya you will agree with me thr has been good new policy direction by government atleast the reduction in cost of governance..And if you are being sincere. The Government is telling the people to endure hunger while wasting billions in building vp house. Was the vp living in a hole and many more examples like that.
Pls don't make my post begin to look like politics thread.

What I think will play out in ucap. The allotment of new shares will likely happen next yr.The new shares will not benefit from this yr financial gain..The good financial from this yr will likely push the price to #20 after allotment. It is now left for next yr financial to see if it can sustain that price going forward after dilution

I doubt if the allotment will reach next year. These people have reason for what they did, and I don't think they will wait that long. Just look at the daily trading pattern.

What exact drastic policy change has occurred: the reversal of the finance bill or the dismissal of all cabinet members, with about 50% replaced by same sacked members? Regarding your suggestion to reduce governance costs by 50%, how is that feasible without mass layoffs?

Universal released very good result but disappointed in the part of dividend....
Investors were expecting dividend payment this year based on the promise from the CEO but eventually, non was declared.

While this shouldn't be a yardstick to judge the stock, it doesn't mean it can't deliver, still one of the undervalue stocks (similar thing sighted in few other stocks), when is the question now.....but if you see a moving train, alight and join.

** Purely my opinion. Don't come and blame me if you see it moving again.... I just gave a simple advice**
Thank you for the response, I sincerely appreciate your feedback on this madam

Not sure if regulatory financial reporting for banks permit revaluation in their balance sheet for significant amounts brought by over a 100% devaluation of Naira with respect to dollar assets. But going forward I see the banks making ways to be less aggressive in reporting the gains. Won't be surprised if we start seeing re-statements of 2023 gains in 2024Q3 reports and 2024 FY reports.

Mankind2024:
The day the magnificent 7 stocks saw red, before the bear was slaughtered by the ravaging bull, is etched in my memory. I won't soon forget July 29th to 31st, 2024. Bad news from Wall Street dominated the headlines, with analysts focusing on Tech and AI stocks. Microsoft beat estimates in all key areas but was punished for its less-than-encouraging cloud revenue. Alphabet performed excellently in all fundamentals, but Wall Street found fault in YouTube's advert revenue, which marginally fell short of estimates. This led to a massive sell-off. I sensed a conspiracy and quickly transferred funds from UBA to my T212 investment account. Luckily, the funds arrived during after-market trading on July 30th, when NVIDIA was trading at $100. As a Nigerian investor actively learning the ropes of stock investing, I saw this as a lifetime opportunity. I added 100 units of NVIDIA to my portfolio at $100/unit. Today, I woke up to a gain of over $2000, with NVIDIA trading at $120+. My red portfolio had turned green overnight. The lesson here is that true wealth is built during market downturns. Always keep cash in your portfolio to prepare for red days. Red days are imminent in equity investment, and volatility is the market's inherent characteristic. I learned a valuable lesson from seasoned portfolio managers and investment bankers: they create opportunities where none exist. They force you to sell when you should be buying and vice versa. Remain calm; red days are opportunities for learned investors to borrow money to invest in fundamentally sound stocks like the magnificent 7. Up magnificent 7 stocks, the story is beautiful.

You and this your magnificent 7 😂😂😂😂. Were you invested in them when they used to be referred to as FAANG(Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix &Google)?
