I am just following the live score via Google. Game on. It seems France will take the 3rd quarter.

Our right wing is too porous.
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread - Onward To The Afrobasket by PDPGuy: 5:54pm On Aug 01
Johannes’s 3-point shooting and France’s overall 3rd quarter offensive onslaught were key to today’s defeat.

But I’m confident that D’Tigress will beat Canada, to finish 2nd in the group and book a ticket to the quarterfinals.

We should have pushed to win this game. What if Australia defeats France in the Aussies last game?

Game over, nice 1st and 2nd qtr,we fell apart after. Things I noticed include. Elizabeth Balogun had a bad game, just 1/10 field goal is not good enough. Also when some players come to screen for Ezinne, they just screen and move away,as against rolling. Unfortunately,Kalu atimes is ready to pass to screener, hereby, picking her dribble, untimately leaving her stuck. We did better with such play against Australia which lead to a few 3 pointers from Amy. Also Ify Okoro is still not there yet. Ultimately,if you would be playing a physical and athletic side like this your bench better be very deep,we are not. On to the next one...

There is a faint chance that it would happen because this France team are, head and shoulders, the best team in the group.

Musa is like a smaller version of Angel Reese. When u go against these type of players u know u have to work for everything u get. It's not pretty but it's effective

I agree she's been ok defensively but not great too. She's turned over the ball a couple of times.

I can agree but we also had about 20 turnovers as a team. Just a poor night overral

I strongly believe that, come Sunday night, D’Tigress will become the first African women’s team to advance to the Olympics knockout round…

Qualification for the Quarter finals is becoming interesting. Nigeria needs to just win tomorrow to assure our qualification cause a loss potentially puts us in a bad place.

China just beat Puerto Rico 80-58, and this puts them in a strong position to potentially qualify for the quarters as one of the 2 best 3rd-placed teams. They currently have a -1 +/-. We are currently at -8 so a loss means we would have the very least have a -9 or more +/- which puts us as second place to China in the qualification rankings.

However, Belgium/Japan would have to win by 27/37 if Nigeria wins or 18/28 should Nigeria lose to have a chance at qualifying.

The 3rd place option isn't available to use again. Belgium just did the impossible so we have to come 2nd to qualify.

So let's up that any of the first permutation I posted yesterday happens

Guys is there an Olympics thread for all sports?
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread - Onward To The Afrobasket by BascoVanVeli(m): 12:53pm On Aug 04
We fell asleep after getting our lead but I like how they fought back at the end of the quarter. Still an open game but we need to find ways to score
Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread - Onward To The Afrobasket by lovewins: 1:04pm On Aug 04
Not impressed so far. We carelessly let go of a 10 point lead. We have to be more purposeful and Promise again has to stop shooting.

We may not have a competition left of they continue to play like this.

Balogun has been hooping today. She has kept us in the game with some needed shots

....true,sad much,we have no low post player that you can depend o...so if the guards are not lighting it up,we are in trouble...

Okay I got a new plan. Give Ezinne Kalu the ball and get out of her way. They can't do anything thing with that lady right now. It's like watching Chennedy Carter in the WNBA.

Musa can be decent, she just needs to be a lot more relaxed and select her shots. She just throws the ball and hopes one hits, Pallas is not a great offensive player so wasn't even looking to her at all.

Promise again should stop shooting from deep. The fact that she still does is on the coaches. She has literally not made any in ages. Her best chance at scoring is driving into the paint. While she also is less likely to make that, she could at least get some calls and earn it at the free throw line.
