These politicians speak at times like junkies or illiterates. How would you wake up a day and urge Agro companies to crash food prices? As in how? By magic or miracle?

Just like citizens asking you to crash fuel pump price or dollar rate? These are systematically built and not like preparing gbegiri soups ok.

Mr governor

Sigh... This almost sounds idiotic!

I have never heard Oga Jide call on his President and fellow governors to take pay cuts and massively reduce their recurring allowances and expenditures, then use the funds to help citizens.

Senators are currently on recess and touring the world at the expense of an ailing economy.

Abia state governor and others still budget Billions monthly for feeding and personal hygiene.

Those ones are not to help the masses, it's businesses struggling with harsh government policies you want to turn into Charity organisations.

Shiorrrrrr!!!

Okay... Please, explain how a food manufacturer spending 5 times more in production expenses including transportation of materials can sell at low prices while still staying solvent and making profits.

You think leadership is by noise and empty words...!

Mr Governor let it start from LASG
*Reduce levies/charges being collected from Traders/market women
* Reduce same from businesses-agro foods, processors
*Reduce levies collected from transporters and logistics firms
*Digitalisation of collection of levies from Transport unions/agberos
*Provide easy access to affordable energy for businesses

True. To solve this hunger issue, everyone must be ready to sacrifice.

What is Sanwo Olu sacrificing instead of trying to tax more people without employing workers to provide ordinary water in the city?

tosinhtml:
The Lagos State government has unveiled an ambitious plan to generate N200 billion annually by expanding its income tax base to include remote workers and leveraging digital solutions for enhanced revenue collection.

According to the synopsis document for the EKO Revenue Plus Summit, which is expected to hold on September 25th and 26th, 2024, with the theme “Unlocking New Revenue Streams for Lagos State”, this southwest state plans to raise N5 trillion internally generated revenue (IGR) from four major sectors.

One of such sectors is the digital economy, through which Lagos State plans to introduce a Resident Global Digital Citizen Tax Management System, targeting remote workers, foreign firms, and digital influencers.

Blockchain and Tokenization Agenda: Lagos State plans to implement tokenization for real estate, infrastructure, and intellectual property. This project will require N500 million and aims to generate N100 billion annually from income fees and permits.

The lack of state-owned pipe-borne water in the homes of Lagos residents has continued to be a source of concern, a non-profit group, Corporate Accountability and Public Advocacy Africa (CAPPA) has said.

At a press event to mark this year’s World Water Day, the group said its monitoring team’s visit to state-owned waterworks showed that most of them are not operational.

The group said the waterworks it visited include the ones at Maryland, Mushin, Ikorodu, Obalende, Agbowa, Onikan, Ikoyi, and Amuwo Odofin.

Only the one in Ikoyi is producing water, according to CAPPA.

The Igbo’s think they are cunny! They ignited this anti-Tinubu protest under the pretence of hardship protest online, after it has gained momentum on/offline, they left it to their useful idiots(In Israel’s Netanyahu word’s)in the SouthWest, North & SS to carry on self-destruct!

Ndigbo political self-miscalculation! By the time the storm is over and the North realise the extent of damage and self-destruct at their end, they will begin to have the kind of anger some Lagosians still have in the destruction of Lagos during ENDSARS!

Well, government is already making plans to import.

How is that an answer to the impact of increased imports on Naira value?

Is that not the clueless thing Buhari did as military dictator to rake up so much debts while killing farms and factories to create unemployment, such that Babangida was obliged to implement IMF austerity measures.

No wonder Obasanjo said that he was an olodo on the economy but still endorsed him for ThiefNuibu to get his ebilokan chance last year.

citizenisb:
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says President Muhammadu Buhari may not do well in economy and foreign affairs, except in military matters.

“Buhari is not a very hot person on the economy and foreign affairs,” Obasanjo said.

The former President stated this on Monday at the third International Conference on African Development Issues — themed, “Driving inclusive and sustainable development in Africa: Models, methods and policies” — organised by Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State.

While reacting to a question posed to him by a member of the audience: “Is there any hope for Nigeria under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari?”, Obasanjo replied, “Is there any hope for Nigeria under this administration? I came back from Geneva, Switzerland a few days ago to attend a conference titled, ‘Are elections giving democracy a bad name?’ We had an election, we elected a leader and the good thing about democracy is that the power you have to elect a leader is also the power you have to remove him. I am saying this because I said earlier that if you don’t see any leader that has done well in the 56 years of Nigeria’s independence, then let us forget about Nigeria.

“I will tell you what I know and I will tell you what I don’t know. I know Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. He served under me in the military. His characteristics that I know, his behaviour that I know, he has not deviated from them. He was never a perfect man, he is not a perfect man and no leader can ever be a perfect man because they are human beings. But if you read my book, what I said about him is correct. He is not a hot person when it comes to economy. He is not a very hot person when it comes to foreign affairs. But he will do well in matters of military and he will do well in fighting Boko Haram.”

Lol na frustrated hungry people full Nairaland meh! See as den Dey vent anger on Sanwoolu because he said that Olam food processing company should crash price to give back to the society! One clown up there even said “see how a graduate(sanwoolu) is talking lol.

During this period businesses can adjust prices. High cost of food in Nigeria is artificial. It is basically because of insecurity. Southerners don’t farm like the North. Southerners are lazy in terms of farming. The youth prefer to do yahoo, ladies prostitutes and ride Okada. Few others are in the cities looking for white collar jobs with their Incompetent certificates.

The North that serves the country with food security faced a lot of insecurities and banditry over the years, they ran away from farms.

It’s because of the fact that they are the real farmers that’s why all the agriculture agencies by the govt like NALDA, NISRA etc are directly focusing on the north with loans, inputs, machineries etc. you can’t hear of such opportunities in the South because they are lazy.

North also have large expanded lands. The southerner who has a little piece of land at the back of his house will prefer it’s bushy then cultivating it. That’s why you see our lazy youths in Nairaland crying up and down and attacking everyone as if na we spoil their demented lives!

If you want the price of food to go down, reduce price of petrol and reduce import duties, provide adequate securityfor farmers, state governors should establish state owned masiive farms, limit multiple taxation, sit down and observe for like 3 to 6 months and do an appraisal of such steps.
