Before I collect money from my siblings, I need to write a 450-word proposal. That doesn't even guarantee anything.
In this life, pray to have caring people around.

I'm my own case, our mother must approve before they can release and after some months she will query on what the money was used for.

That's not true.

A sister will most likely ask her brothers to give her, and not to lend her.
At least, that is what I would do. 🥰

Borrow from brothers kor! 🙄

'Borrowing' from ur big brothers is just a euphemism for 'dash'. All the money my younger sister don 'borrow' from me, I Neva see any.

Hmm...

In reality, this does not really represent a loving family per se.

There is a certain stage in life when rendering financial assistance without taking on responsibility is easier to do.

A better reflection of a caring family would be to send the money and then immediately ask a question like, 'I hope you are OK?' Or 'Are you safe?' That is showing more love and willingness to go even further than just sending money and not knowing if there is an immediate danger.

100 dollars is also not a big deal to a middle class American.

From my perspective, it is not about the money.

Like I said, send the money, but a typical Nigerian brother would be concerned about the urgency and want to know their is no immediate danger.

And $100 is a bit of a big deal for a middle class American because most of the middle class have debts (mortgages). Can they afford it? Yes. But it would
be felt a bit for a couple of days.

What are you even saying...did you read my post at all?

50k is even much. What's the percentage of people in Nigeria today that you can call for 10k and they'll ask you for your account details without question? Very little.

You should know that giving to people you don't know is also a global thing. And if you carry out a research on countries that render assistance to strangers, I can assure you that Nigeria wouldn't make top 50. So what's your point?
One single post from a family that helped one of them don't makes it looked like that's how everyone behaved over there, every man for himself.take it all leave it naija will surely be among top 20 on the list

Not to take anything away from this display of love, but if all the siblings could afford the money, giving that amount of money to their brother when he’s down isn’t exactly newsworthy especially if he’s not the type that regularly ask for money. I’m sure many siblings out there would do same. It would be a big shame otherwise.

I don't know why but it's the fault of the parents why brothers don't care.

Have you been a responsible brother to them yourself?
If you have been irresponsible and you expect them to take you seriously when you’re in, then don’t blame them.
