"At the World Cup"
JohnBullMySon:
That is not true.

There’s nothing like Scotland at the Olympics. They all team up together as Great Britain.

Osimhen will be good for any big team on the planet. But will PSG be better for Osimhen than Arsenal? I think not.

As for una haram football, no matter how many times u term it "Yori Yori", it is still haram!!!

Mujtahida:

You don't understand. From the perspective of yori yori football, Osimhen will be good for PSG.

Viktor Gyokeres just did an Osimhen to assist Sporting's second against Porto.

This is who Arsenal fans prefer.

Another assist. Weak foot.
I have been to one of their forum and they seems to prefer Osimhen there

We'll need something close to national budget to successfully plan, prepare and end if we win bid. Billions of dollars. If they have sense, that event, theoretically, can singlehandedly revive the dead tourism sector. But na big dream wey dey run pass Flash. Who wan chase am?

Hosting Olympics to revive tourism in Nigeria kinda sounds like treating a headache with surgery.

LBH, hosting Olympics in Nigeria is not practical within the next 40~50 years.

Apologies, missed that.

We’re not saying the same thing then. Olympics is different from WC and things tend to come together here. So I’m wondering why it’s different for US.

I may be very wrong but I think Boniface is close to his ceiling or already reached his ceiling, there is more to improvement than experience and more gametime it has majorly to do with searing hunger and determination and Boniface does not have that, not even close to the level of Osimhen

Maybe you watch his social media stories a lot.

It is an independent country though USA claims it. Unlike Britain! Just like China do claim Taiwan!

No that is not true.

Puerto Rico has had many referendums and has always voted to remain a U.S. territory. It is not a claim by continental America like the Taiwan stuff. It is the decision of a large margin of Puerto Ricans.

The reasons they have NOT been joined as a proper state all boils down to us politics. Basically GOP knows that Puerto Rico is a Democratic stronghold and if they become a state they’ll have two senators as the constitution requires. The senate balance has become very tight so if Democrats get two free senators it will push the congress to their favor. Secondly if they become a state they’ll have college votes that will likely always go to Democrats during presidential elections.

I am not discarding your point! The point still remains it is not part of the United States yet so it is independent! It is all an oxymoron! Wanted unwanted!
Puerto R wants to be part while Taiwan doesn't! US refuse! China wants to enforce! Same thing, different logic!

On the subject

1. First, the IOC is the body responsible for determining which nations can participate in the Olympics and they have their own metrics for determining what counts as a "nation". So entities like Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), Hong Kong, and much recently Palestine are recognised as Nations by the IOC. The bar is a totally different for organizations like FIFA as these entities are in themselves not nations but territories of larger body.

2. Great Britain competes as such primarily because of historicity. They were one of the first nations to compete in the Olympics and the IOC regards them as one singular entity. You'll notice they usually coalesce in every sport except football. That's because every of the nations are member associate in FIFA and wouldn't want to run foul of the rules. It's why England primarily participates in football.

3. Less than 50% of Puerto Ricans favour statehood. The earliest referendum on the matter was largely against it. However overtime it's become a lot more popular but still doesn't have 50% of the population's consensus as most favour other solutions like maintaining status quo or outright independence. The latest referendum has the most support for statehood at 54% but again, opponents of it have lately decided to sit it out for reasons best known to them (maybe because they know its not binding so why the stress). The one before this even had 97% in favour of statehood but turnout was very low as most people didn't even bother to participate.

4. You're however correct, the political consequence of recognizing them as a state is why it is unlikely to happen. The same reason democrats what Puerto Rico recognized is the same reason they want DC become a state.

Suggesting Nigeria host Olympic is like asking Tinubu to represent Nigeria in a 100M track and field heat. .....it's madness

Good for his confidence. This time we have 4 Ngr players in LaLiga. More reason to enjoy Laliga this season.

lol! Gabby that Ofili bested this season. It is not miracle, it's simply hardwork. Ofili will win the Gold easy!

The reason AFN/NOC pulled her out of the 100! She is our most promising prospect at this Olympics!!

That will be our only Track and Field medal unless Tobi pulls a miracle!

Lol I won't argue. Gabby Thomas is literally the 200m world lead for 2024. At no time did Favour best her in the 200m, you are probably talking 100m USATF NY Grand where Gabby participated which isn't her forte. Athletes sometimes participate in other events that isn't their primary to get themselves into shape. The goal isn't to win it. Tobi Amusan for instance did some 60m/100m too.

I'm Nigerian so I hope that Favour wins, but if I'm a betting man and I want to put money on someone it would be Gabby. There even Julien and Mackenzie took who are big threats. But again Miracles happen.

I also agree, except Tobi gets ate start right we may have to worry a bit. Another person who has been consistent for us medal wise but rarely gets recognition due her is Ese Brume. She won a medal for us last Olympics and almost always wins something at every world event for Nigeria.
