It could have easily been a 20-point difference, but our coach eased off the pedal.

They totally turned up the heat in the third quarter... Restricted Canada to just 5 points that quarter

We shall see! MacKenzie ahead of Brown? This no be NCCA oo. Julien is in the form of her life but I still believe Ofili will beat her! I know Gabby is the favorites after Shericka absence but I believe Ofili will win!

She has the second best time this year. Both she and Gabby already have sub 21 time this year. Favour is yet to have one.

It was the right thing to do, seeing that we need to conserve our energy for the quarter final..

I'm just imagining how better this team would have looked if we had gotten the likes of Arike Ogunbowale, Michelle Onyewere, Kiki Iriefan and Nneka Ogwumike...

lol! Gabby that Ofili bested this season. It is not miracle, it's simply hardwork. Ofili will win the Gold easy!

The reason AFN/NOC pulled her out of the 100! She is our most promising prospect at this Olympics!!

That will be our only Track and Field medal unless Tobi pulls a miracle!
I pray she wins it,or at least wins silver or bronze.
But to win it the easy part, certainly it won't be easy.

On the subject

1. First, the IOC is the body responsible for determining which nations can participate in the Olympics and they have their own metrics for determining what counts as a "nation". So entities like Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), Hong Kong, and much recently Palestine are recognised as Nations by the IOC. The bar is a totally different for organizations like FIFA as these entities are in themselves not nations but territories of larger body.
Marjoribanks:
I am not discarding your point! The point still remains it is not part of the United States yet so it is independent! It is all an oxymoron! Wanted unwanted!
Puerto R wants to be part while Taiwan doesn't! US refuse! China wants to enforce! Same thing, different logic!

Puerto Rico is part of America @Marjoribanks. They all have US citizenship.

The reason I asked this was Because I found that even when Hawaii and Alaska were not yet states, status just like PR. they still competed under team USA. So why is PR different then?

Because PR has since time immemorial sought self determination. It is lately that the pendulum seem to be shifting towards statehood. Historically PR folks detested being a territory of America. Hawaiian surfers actually sought to fly their flag at the 2021 Olympics for surfing, their request was however denied by the IOC.

Of course, they are, however, they can only exercise that right when they reside in the United States territory-- That sums it up. PR is not US territory but a colonized State.

I do think it is because of geography. Hawaii and Alaska geographically falls within the Union of the States while PR is a separate island that can be accessed outside US control!

Ps- Just my thought/observation

I am not sure what you mean by "they can only exercise that right when they reside in US territory". A PR citizen is also a US citizen and have every rights a US citizen does except for representation in Congress. It means they can vote but their vote cannot count in Congress. A few other things tax related but that's about it. They can live and work in the US and get same respect outside of the US like a US citizen.

For the bolded, actually PR citizens are technically only “US nationals”. By that designation, they cannot vote in U.S. presidential elections (except a PR resident takes up residency in any of the 50 states and/or DC); but they’re qualified to hold US passports

Yes it will be counted, cause they have representation in Congress. it just does not count in the sense that theur representative doesn't get a vote in Congress and their vote doesn't translate into electoral college votes.

Are they US citizens? Yes they are. There's literally an act of Congress that assures this. Your designation is incorrect cause by law they are recognised as US citizens with all rights save the aforementioned afforded them. They can easily move to any state in the US without a visa, work without a green card and register to vote in those states and their votes will count (just like you mentioned). The only time their vote falls short is when they do it from PR.

Exactly our point. The vote done in PR does not count. A PR citizen vote only counts when he/she steps unto a US territory. Therefore they can argue, although they are US citizens, their territory is somehow independent of the U. S.
A more accurate example is Southern Cameroon and Nigeria before the former joined Cameroon!

They participate in the presidential primaries of both parties and help select candidates. Their votes however are limited to electing a representative in Congress but do not count in presidential elections.

A PR citizen can go to new York and register to vote and his vote will count. Only citizens can do that. PR is afforded certain privileges like running it's own internal affairs but still a US territory. They don't handle any foreign relations like national entities do.
