I can't believe someone would comment "good initiative" to this considering the economic mishap the country and citizens are currently embroiled in.

Imagine having to pay #2,500 per charge that'd last a day multiplied by 20 days.

I'm just so short of words to describe the kind of humans we have in every elective and appointed offices in this British company.
U for kuku charge for free. As if it's not money that they invested in the infrastructure. These people expect so much from life without giving-in anything.

Even if they give it for free people like the person you quoted will still complain that the government didn't also find passengers for them. Nigeria has a large population of greedy, entitled people that can never be satisfied. They know nothing about the technology of EV but would criticize every initiative. The world is graduating to EV, electric vehicle but our people will condemn it but when they see it in Bemin Republic, they start shouting BAT come and see your life even small Benin Republic. Innoson has started EV too and EVs are not cheap in the meantime once a technology becomes democratized, it becomes cheaper

Irredeemable.

You know the world of EVs, right?

The countries you and your loonies are trying so hard to imitate in sprinting without first learning how to properly crawl, put programs in place such as tax rebates and free charging spots spread around the length and breadth of their communities to encourage citizens to embrace EVs.

I've lost pity....

So government should land PMS at N1,300 and sell to you at N350, right? Why do you think they will get the money to sustain a subsidy of N950 per liter? And then still build road, subsidize education, subsidize electricity, pay FG workers monthly, build bridges and railways, defend the Naira, give free CNG Buses, fund social investment programs etc?

Like, do you guys even have any understanding of how to run government at all?

Still defending nonsense. Is this the first time we are having a government. Is Tinubu the first person to rule Nigeria. How does others even the military were able to rule without this level of hardship? You that knows how government operates?
Where do they get the money for Jets, yatchs, renovations, padded budgets and all other frivolous items.

This idea of tax is use to build a country is wrong. Those places you are trying to copy their government created jobs for it's citizens and enabling environment for business to succeed. Hence, it becomes easy to tax the citizens. You also have to understand that is policies of government in the past 1yr plus that brought us to this point whereby majority of people are complaining.

“The users of these e-bikes will also be paying N2,500 for the charging of their batteries, which could last for a day. This is relatively cheap when compared to what they will be spending if they are to buy fuel.”
Not cheap. But less expensive.

Currently, fuel take about 1/3 of the money earned by a biker. For example, if a biker works ₦10,000, about ₦3300 goes for fuel purchase. The remaining ~₦6,700 is the take home (including feeding).

Charging at ₦2,500 would reduce it to about 0.7/3. This means the biker would take home about ₦7,500.

This would give just about ₦800 difference. Not enough, especially because the spare parts of the e-bike would likely be scare and more expensive than common bikes.

This is another case of running a generator on fuel vs gas.

They should reduce it to ₦1,000 if they mean business.

#I hope somedays, the battery would be selfcharging as its being used. So there wouldn't be the need of topping it up at a charging station.

The users should calculate which will be cheaper between petrol and this 2,500/charge.

I think 2,500 per charge is a lot. 500 to 750 would have been ok since it is a bike

NB: for those saying you can charge at home, this thread is about paying 2500 for charging in a charging station.

Always trying to take a sprint before properly learning to crawl when it comes to exploitative policies but when it is policies to alleviate the pains of the citizens, they become dumb.

In the climes promoting EVs and green energies, the citizens are continously encouraged by way of tax cuts to embrace alternative energies and charging stations are strategically situated all around and for the most part for free or at most at hugely discounted rates.
You want government to charge the battery free of charge?
The saner climes you guys always referred to, Is the price cheaper in that place compared to this 2500?
Do you think people that formulate police are novices who don't considered the masses in formulating policies like this?

Exactly the way they formulated the subsidy removal policy for you by considering you to now buy petrol at 4x the previous price.

Considering sustainance, it's fair for now if a fully charged battery can last throughout a day and if truly, there's an option of swap without extra cost to forestall time wastage at the charging station.
With time and more private investors participation in close future, things should vastly improve. Great they've taken the first step. It can only get better from here onward.

How long will it take to fully charge because that charging period is a downtime.
One can buy petrol in 5 minutes and not lose precious manhours.
the article said you can decide to charge your battery or swap it for a full battery at the station. So you must not wait for it to charge.

Let me answer on his behalf.

The yacht to be sold off, recover 21B VP residential expenses, the presidential fleet to be sold off except 2 maximum.

All FG, State, HOR and Senate including staff to maximum 300% of minimum wage and the withdrawal of all benefits including wardrobe, fuel and health benefits.
Banning medical tourism.
Reduce delegation and expenses for foreign trips
Reduce convoys to 2 cars and fuel expenses.
Privatisation of NNPC for transparency and efficiency.
Passing a bill into law stipulating death penalty for corruption and zero immunity for everyone.
Chuck eye for Navy and Dantita offshore collabo bunkering
Chuck eye for EFCC for recovered loot and NCS.
Chuck eye for revenues from mining in the North.

And many more and the money go come out now now.
Nigeria is a very rich country, don't ever ask where the money will come from.
Treasure full this land both onshore and offshore, let's not even talk abt the human capital.
But the koko of the matter be say, the persons benefitting from the dysfunction of Nigeria don't want the status quo to change and unfortunately or not this includes you.

BTW, so by saying the landing cost is 1300, you mean subsidy is still being paid this minute right?
So you are also 2faced like this your forum?

Just lose it. You have nothing to contribute. Innoson, Nord, Qoray, GAC Sterling Bank, Kano State, Borno State have all started EV and you still think it's about imitation, it is the nearest future. If you don't understand it just leave it. No be by force to comment.

I guess u are the type that would want it free then cry it's not well maintained

The idea of Africans is weird theh believe government should get money from anywheee and make their life better instead of contributing money to government as tax to make their life better

Ogun have a population of 7 million, Nigerian GDP per capita is 1.6 million yearly

200k tax on average individuals per year
Gives you 1.4 trillion that's the minimum amount Ogun us supposed to get from tax

There is no how u pay that money n elect idiots
There is no how a good person ruled for 8 years with that money that u won't get great value for your money
In as much as the Government has alot to do, the citizens also have their lapses too, serious ones. We don't like to pay tax and we want freebies. You have written well. All over the world, the cost of energy is increasing, I can't believe someone responded to your post that it should be cheaper that worst case scenario it translates to about 350/L if it is PMS. Let us all be sincere, if PMS goes to 350/L all of us in Nigeria would be very happy. Other state Governors should emulate this kind of policies and should be encouraged. People criticise efforts but they never proffer solutions or alternatives. It is crazy. The efforts of the Ogun state Government in this regard is commendable.
