Coach Chris Danjuma must select the best for this U20 women world cup devoid of any sentiment. With the array of stars in that Falconets team, we should be vying for the top. How about their two friendlies against Colombia and Mexico as scheduled by NFF? Will it still hold?

You're not exactly correct.

1. It's not 3 years but 8 years. Favour Ofili qualified for the 2021 Olympics but couldn't compete too with 14 other athletes because the AFN didn't update their testing schedule as required by World Athletics. One of the athletes who was born and raised in the US but instead decided to wear the green and white was so furious she changed back to the US. She competed this morning in the Shot Put even and beat the time qualification and is automatically in the finals. This is someone who could have almost certainly medaled for Nigeria because of how good she is.

2. The reason you cited above was just mere speculation, the AFN didn't acknowledge that as reason neither did the NOC. We are still waiting for them to tell us what happened.

I heard Omolara Grace Ogunmakin isn’t on the Olympics list too

They've put her in lane 9. Alfred in 8 and Gabby in 7. Why Dem dey do these ladies this way now? Chei. I believe her sha. She must climb that podium.

A lot of embarrassing acts from the Ministry and the AFN and NOC that they think is office protocol. Besides, seeing senator tweeting that they just paying training allowance seems good but shows how bereft of happenings all of them are in a whole 2024. If Senator wants to have a good rep, he better doubles up. We need gingered blood in positions like this, no offense to him. Till then sha. Seems any medals hope is 99% from the ladies, especially the Long jump trio

Don’t even know how far they’re on it right now, cause i heard they were going to play 3 different countries (Colombia, Australia, Mexico) going to the World Cup but will there be time for that as they haven’t even left Nigeria ..

When it comes to the big stage Danjuma isn’t tactically sound so I don’t expect much from him even though the team is currently stacked.. Memories of the past teams he has handled and the last performance at the All African Games in Ghana still lingers

I was trying to see what her time was compared to Praise George Okon. Couldn't find any information on that. I think she should have at least been on the 4x400m mixed race and we could have probably done better.

Super Falcons Coach speaks on disappointing Olympics, future of the team

AUGUST 6, 2024

Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum, has heaped praise on his team despite their Group stage ouster from the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic games.
The record African Queens failed to win a single game in a group that had reigning World Champions Spain, as well as heavyweights Brazil and Japan.
Super Falcons Coach Randy Waldrum, had lauded his team despite a disappointing Olympic campaign, acknowledging the fact that they have the talent and potential to become one of the world's top teams. The American tactician believes that with the right investment and organization, the team can overcome the challenges that have held them back and achieve greatness.

The 67-year-old's optimism is rooted in the team's balanced mix of experienced players like Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Osinachi Ohale, alongside promising youngsters like Deborah Abiodun, Tosin Demehin, Rofiat Imuran, and Nicole Payne. He sees a bright future for the team, but emphasizes the need for changes in the way they operate.

"Our players are extremely talented," he told ESPN. "That's always been the history of Nigeria, it has extremely talented players. And I think this one could be a special group. We've shown our quality against some of the best teams in the world."

"I'm excited about the young players but I really do like the core of our team. I guess the one thing I said after the World Cup, and I would continue to say it now publicly, is if we will invest in this team, as a federation and a country, this team would have a chance to be one of the best in the world." He added.

The coach's desire to bring a more American-style organization to the team has been hindered by issues like staggered travel arrangements, visa troubles, lack of advanced scheduling, and payment problems. These challenges have affected the team's preparation and performance, making it difficult for them to reach their full potential.

"One of the things I really hoped I could do when I came to Nigeria as a coach, is to bring some experiences of the way we do things in the US, with our organization, and with our preparation, but for whatever reason we still battle some of the same issues." He lamented.

Waldrum's passion for the team and his desire to stay on beyond his current contract are evident. He hopes to inject new blood into the team and take them beyond the next WAFCON. However, he acknowledges that the decision ultimately lies with the Nigeria Football Federation.

"I would like to [stay on]," He said. "I love the team. I love the direction that we're headed. After a rough start here, I think we're headed in a good direction.

"There's a lot of upcoming talent as we start to move some of the older players out after the Olympics and bring some young talent in. I think we can accomplish great things in the next level.

"That's more of a question for the Federation. I don't know if they want me to or not, but I hope they at least appreciate the fact that we had the showing that we did at the World Cup and that we have qualified them for the Olympics.

"And I hope they see that we're doing some good things and but that'll be a decision that's up to them. I'm just thankful that we got through all the rough times and appreciate the belief the NFF has shown in me to keep me on and allow me to do my work. But I certainly would entertain staying on beyond." He concluded.

The Pittsburgh Panthers gaffer will now turn his attention to the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations slated to begin on the 5th of July 2025, as He and his team would look to build upon 2022 edition's fourth place finish.

This is bad
They want the Americans to win
It should have been arranged by qualification time
Anyways IOC isn’t funded by any single African country so this is their silly game
I hope she does the unbelievable and shocks everyone.
She should manage her energy much better than the semifinals to win
She either got tired or slowed down for Alfred to pass her
She should try to beat the games record if she really wants to win
Forget about competitors

I don't think so sha. Lol

The 3 fastest time took lane 7,8 and 9 respectively. There's a myth about best lanes but it's not based on facts.

3 fastest should be in the middle of the park
Lanes 4, 5 & 6
Especially in a final
With the fastest in the middle 5

Two Americans besides each other

All 4 sharing the centre track. Africans on the edge.

She slowed down but also Alfred is a speedtrain once the tracks are straight. See how she doubled up immediately after the bend? Favour has the advantage over all others at bends(watch the Commonwealth gold relay that was later stripped because of Grace)
I believe she will apply it to her advantage sha. All the best to her.

NFF should retain Waldrum
Let’s see what he can achieve & improve on in 3 years
They can let him go in 2027
Hope they can get a few friendlies in from countries in Europe or Colombia
How do we compete with the powerhouses in football
We also need reliable replacements for older players
Friendlies can help improve the team and show us new talents
Falcons struggled to keep possession, string passes, create enough chances or score goals against top 10 teams
England, Holland, Sweden didnt even make it to the Olympics
Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by isan(m): 5:57pm On Aug 06
England can't contest in Olympics as a separate country from great Britain.....I believe in what waldrum is doing if only some heavyweight can leave alone to pick his team for a tournament, if some players were not forced on waldrum to Olympics waldrum wouldn't have used his power also to invite Onumonu which greatly affects the falcons

Again not based on facts. Read this article that shows what the data says. Also, the 400mH women semifinals held minutes ago. Sydney and Bol both had the best time with Sydney as world record holder and Bol as current world champion. Sydney was in lane 8 I think Bol too was. So there's no conspiracy and if at all lanes gives advantages the data shows 7-9 may just be the best.

The Brazilians are kîlling Spain with precise long passes from the back and wings. Our Falcons have a long way to go.

Meanwhile, Deltamani, it seems I have found a new crush o, the Brazilian RB with purple in her eyes. Do you know her name?
