What’s is the meaning of policy? Oya explain since u think u are teaching me something new.

Dude you are just rambling. Take note how you opened this discussion. What did I say and what are u busy trying to disprove?

If investors are hesitant to invest who do you blame?

No one is absolving government of responsibility, if you read my post carefully I said as much. The crux of mt my argument is even with good administrators and policy backup there's little we can achieve because Nigeria sadly isn't rich enough to fund sports. It is why my advocacy is for government to completely handsoff sports in Nigeria.

So my argument isn't for more government policies but just one policy, which is government divesting from sports.

Also, the private sector in Nigeria is well equipped to fund sporting events in Nigeria. The only reason they won't right now is because there's little or no return on investments when they partner with any sporting brand. Government divesting totally from telecommunications and entertainment is what led to the boost we've seen in both industries. BB naija which is just a program here more sponsorship yearly than Nigeria's biggest sporting brand the Super Eagles and all their money comes from the private sector.

Multiple reports have it that Victor Osimhen may have to remain at Napoli because:

- He and his agent reportedly don't want a loan deal of any type.

- He and his agent reportedly won't accept any wage cut.

#copied

He might move to Chelsea. Cunny man die na cunny man bury am. Seria A teams sabi loan move but dem no like to loan dem top players.

Who bi mumu?

Chelsea is ready to pay Osimhen's wages but they want him on loan. Napoli can't afford the wages again and they want Lukaku for cheap. cheesy

Why does it even matter where I am. Can’t we engage ourselves without the labelling. Can’t we be objective for once? Once u think someone is not on your “side” you want to go against every thing they say. That’s childish.

You can keep ranting, but you'll never be taken seriously. Doesn't ranting ever tire you out?

We had two under-23 boys in the Olympic 100m semifinals, one each in the 200m and 400m semifinals, one girl in the 100m final, and three in the long jump finals. And several others! Most of them are homegrown athletes, yet you're still complaining. The most by any African country! Keep crying, soogbo!

The more talents u produce the higher the chances of medals. Simple game of numbers. Abi did I say Nigeria have never won medals in the Olympics?

Do you have a problem with UK residents? Guy you are just troubled. Always looking for people to label and make enemies.

If you want to believe we are not lagging behind, fine. But no abuse people that are just speaking facts.

Not saying you are wrong but I will say government needs to play part in it. How?

1. Provision of facilities from primary to university
2. Initiate competitions for primary and secondary schools from local government, state and federal level. Including university.
3. Give incentives to prospectus winners. Such as scholarship and full sponsorship for competitions abroad.
4. Develop leagues for various sports and get it sponsored by private sectors.
Etc.
5. Employe former gold medalist as national coaches. For example, our wrestling improved because of Daniel Igali.

As at now, all these are dead like dodo. We use to have them before but politicians are fiction on oil money because they don't understand Sports can used to create employment and wealth.

I'm not trying to prove anything on a faceless platform, I thought we were having a civil discourse. And no I am not rambling, was simply clarifying to give added context, but it appears you see it as some sort of price winning competition.

My argument is simply that we have a better chance at success if government stops running sports. So by one policy I mean just an act of Congress where government is fully divest from sports administration save for investments in infrastructure, and the reason why that is needed is government running sports in itself is an act of Congress.

Investors are hesitant to invest because it's bad business simple. It's bad business because government is invested. It's the same way Investors won't put money in our refineries or the ajaokuta steel mill to jointly run it with government. But let government put those facilities 100% for sale tomorrow and you'll see buyers lining up. Government just has to hands of running sports. Simple.

Are you talking about athletics alone?

I am talking about sports industry generally not only athletics.

Nevertheless, what they are getting is just 0.01% of the talent available.

My son can run 100m but I no wan make em go because he prefers football.

However, if it's made compulsory in secondary schools and he eventually participates in a state competition, peradventure he can be scouted. I am not saying he's the best but I am saying if there's a process, perhaps it should be more than 1,000 which is too small for a country with 250m population.

I should probably have clarified I primarily meant running sports.

1. I agree government should invest in basic infrastructural development that will serve as the pedestal for discovering local talents.

2. Competitions do not necessarily have to be government initiated. I remember Milo used to solely run basketball ball events for secondary school across Nigeria. Private organisations can handle this quite frankly. I am not averse to government organising this, they just haven't shown to be good managers of programs like this.

3. 100% of our athletes currently in the US are in scholarship with no input from government. Trust me if this was a government program nepotism and quota system will destroy it. There was a scholarship program (not sports related) that the Jonathan administration was running for first class students and it was based on merit cause they had to write exams. Immediately Buhari was elected he stopped it because a section of the country wasn't properly represented as winner. We just need to develop good enough athletes, American schools are on the hunt for talents they will better their programs. BTW, Jamaica too now outsource their talents to the US now.

4. Being a past athletes doesn't necessarily translate into being a good administrator or coach. One thing with getting private sector run programmes is that they very rarely allow sentiments thrive because investors want returns on their investments.
