You just lost an opportunity for good paying job! Leadway is a reputable insurance company. My junior colleague was been paid 500k and that was 2022 before she relocated to UK!

If only you can read, you will realise that "come along with writing materials" will most likely suggest a written test not just a verbal interview.

I and a host of others had to go through a written test and 5 stages of interview before employment as a contract staff for my first job.

Though your frustration is valid, your response to it is wrong.

OP that job is not for you but for people residing close to the location. So go and do business.

This is actually rude and foolish. The best would have been to simple ignore or drop your suggestion "respectfully". Didn't you see the location before you applied? Didn't they offer you ample time to prepare for the interview.

To even have the guts to post it here. No sane person should employ a loud-mouthed and rude person like you. If NNPC or Shell sent you that invite, would your reaction had been the same?

With this kind of attitude, it's no wonder many are still without a job. It's not that the jobs aren't available, I've just received my third offer letter in five months. We need to learn to change our attitudes.

To think that some people actually commended his actions is really shameful.

You are very arrogant, you tell a reputable organisation on how to conduct their affairs? Hunger never wire you for house. I used to travel from Kano to Lagos to attend interviews. You will stay long at home.

I don’t think any employer should still follow the old trend of physical interview especially at the first stage.

So I should waste about 10k to Lagos to and fro just for the first stage of an interview.

Never!
Leadway Assurance dodged a bullet. Congratulations to them

Nice one.... It's only in Nigeria that problem will keep pilling up.

In US under the Law, you cant invite people for interview without giving them the Job.

For the sake of those who will just believe what you wrote up there hook, line and sinker like those 13 people that already liked your post, please take some time to research before posting what you think is "fact".

People, what he wrote about jobs being guaranteed by virtue of attending an interview is not true any where in the world.

To the OP, you did the right thing the wrong way. All you had to do was politely decline and state your reasons.

Why not pass it to a friend in that proximity

He should pass the interview invite they specifically invited him to another person??

When the friend reaches the venue ..will he magically put his name on the list of people they want to interview??

Unfortunately, this is the sick generation we have now. So entitled, empty and uncultured.
Honestly, this candidate is not worthy of a job yet

For you to compare Shell with these small companies shows you have no idea about standard interview processes

There is nothing out of place to request for online interview.

Also, physical interview is to vet negative gen z behaviour like this.

This is 2024..I feel company's need to start upping their recruitment solution....test and interview can be done online.... It's totally unnecessary to tell pple to travel for first test or interview for a job they may not even get

I took a 2 hours bus ride to Central London to attend an interview (written and verbal) which did cost me about £50, it is part of the cost of climbing the ladder...I did get the job.

I once be in your situation before.
I must confess, it's really annoying, stressful & frustrating.
Never give up, brother.
May God help you out of joblessness.
May your dreams never die.
May the good Lord come to your aid
.

I dedicate Light House's song 'High' to you:

1.When you're close to tears remember
Someday it'll all be over
One day we're gonna get so high...

2. Don't you think it's time you started
Doing what you always wanted
One day we're gonna get so high...

I think your response with your identity should be posted everywhere so that other employers can see that you are a wise applicant.
If you have politely advised or suggested to them , it could have made difference.
I have been on a panels of interview where I have to collect one of the applicants number for other places just because of the ways he behaved

Didn't u see the Location before u applied for the Job? Or are u (a job seeker) the one to tell an insurance company how to conduct thier recruitment? Since u know so much why dont u just create your own job in your house and pay yourself handsomely.
Honestly, u just saved them the trouble of employing a very toxic person like u
