I don’t think any employer should still follow the old trend of physical interview especially at the first stage.

So I should waste about 10k to Lagos to and fro just for the first stage of an interview.

Never!
You should have made your point known to them politely. This is too hash!

Nice one.... It's only in Nigeria that problem will keep pilling up.

In US under the Law, you cant invite people for interview without giving them the Job.

This is how lies spread like wildfire. Imagine with your submission, you already had 57 likes and 6 share; these people would move around perfecting this assertion without know you don't even know the Law or what you are talking about. Please let's stick to what we know, not we we hear or assume.

That’s very rude but to some extent you’re right.

Very straight forward reply and that will also teach them that they need to move away from the archaic way of doing things.
I bet you, you have schooled them and they will take a leap from this your reply and probably do the needful next time.
This is the same complaint I always complain in my place of work. The world is moving digital and not this manual way of doing things again.

This is actually rude and foolish. The best would have been to simple ignore or drop your suggestion "respectfully". Didn't you see the location before you applied? Didn't they offer you ample time to prepare for the interview.

To even have the guts to post it here. No sane person should employ a loud-mouthed and rude person like you. If NNPC or Shell sent you that invite, would your reaction had been the same?
@The bolded.

The law states it clearly, before you called anyone for an interview, be ready to give the person a job even if he did not qualify for the one interviewed for... Why?? So that you won't throw such person into depression... They are whites..... You are just black with black brains 😂 😂

They asked you come with your CV and writing materials. That's indicative enough that you need to be there physically.

How do you advice they conduct a written exam on you if they so wish?

Also, for some jobs, part of the interview process is them seeing your physique to be sure your statistics meet the requirements for the job.

A good advice for you...."when next you applying for a job, apply for the ones within your walking distance having full consideration to your circumstances and conditions"

Replying to a job offer in that manner shows you don't even deserve to get any job in any establishment. Your tone of response may be good for spare part trading or pepper selling!

Seriously! So everyone that is interviewed is automatically given the job!!!!!! Haba! Lie softly! What is the purpose of an interview then? Employs of labour might as well dole out employment to every job seeker without any weeding.

That wasn't harsh at all but blunt truth, which any knowledgeable employer will also take leap from. The world has moved seamless and the trend most be followed.

For the sake of those who will just believe what you wrote up there hook, line and sinker like those 13 people that already liked your post, please take some time to research before posting what you think is "fact".

People, what he wrote about jobs being guaranteed by virtue of attending an interview is not true any where in the world.

To the OP, you did the right thing the wrong way. All you had to do was politely decline and state your reasons.

I have traveled for aptitude test and interview and I don't have regrets as I got the job afterwards.
It's knowing if a cost is worth it and going for it instead of sitting unemployed and constituting nuisance begging for money..

i once went for a job interview in Abuja, imagine a company paying more than 5million for office space at shoperite wuse, cant provide laptop for their staff, telling you to come to work with your laptop and when the laptop spoil na OYO be that. the office space belike where them they do poultry, no window very tiny room. That's why start up in Nigeria don't last, spending big money on office space but cant provide staff a conducive work environment, and more than 8 people dey inside the 2 by 2 office. grin

This is not true. 5 million naira office in Wuse zone 5 ShopRite does not exist. 5 million naira office can not have a small window like a poultry. My naija people no dey carry last for adding salt to conversations. A 5 million office space around where the ShopRite is in Wuse zone 5 will be a duplex (full duplex). If it's in a plaza, it should be a large space. I can now agree that many Nigeria youths are hugely unemployable. If I don't like what is being pushed to me by a company, I simply ignore and move forward. The day you start your own business and start employing, then you will know that Human resources is one factor that can shut you down. When you employ someone today and after you have spent so much to bring the person in, he resigns the next month and you are back to head hunt and the circle continue

Mr. Man, such first stage of an interview should not be burdensome. The world have gone digital and as such things should be done seamlessly, especially at the early stage of interview.

That should be his duty to research the company's requirement before applying to know if his personal situations, circumstances and conditions can afford him to comply or not. He cannot dictate how he wants the interview to be conducted for the company.

The best thing for him is to apply for a job within his walking distance, and he won't have to be rude.

I know there are fraustrated and "protesting" Nigerians everywhere now, but the company is not the cause of his problem.

He knows where the company is located in relation to where he lives before he applied.

Guy, at the first instance, you know you are jobless why did you applied for a job advertised. Who forced you to apply. This is a kind of lazy youth we are talking about in Nigeria. Nigeria youths need to redesign the way they reason. Leadway is an insurance company don't you see the job description and specifications before applied, do you consider the location as part of requirements? You are one of the lazy youth that former president is referring to in Nigeria.
