The law states it clearly, before you called anyone for an interview, be ready to give the person a job even if he did not qualify for the one interviewed for... Why?? So that you won't throw such person into depression... They are whites..... You are just black with black brains 😂 😂

Nooooooo! You obviously do not understand. The law you’re quoting does not exist. Even the US government interviews people and if they are not the best qualified for the job after a number of interviews, the job is given to whom is seen as best. So please stop pretending to know what you obviously do not know. Stop misleading people.

Nice one.... It's only in Nigeria that problem will keep pilling up.

In US under the Law, you cant invite people for interview without giving them the Job.

For those mentioning me Read the law

"The law states it clearly, before you called anyone for an interview, be ready to give the person a job even if he/she did not qualify for the one interviewed for... Why?? So that you won't throw such person into depression... They are whites..... You are just black with black brains 😂 😂

Which US Law is that?

This is actually rude and foolish. The best would have been to simple ignore or drop your suggestion "respectfully". Didn't you see the location before you applied? Didn't they offer you ample time to prepare for the interview.

To even have the guts to post it here. No sane person should employ a loud-mouthed and rude person like you. If NNPC or Shell sent you that invite, would your reaction had been the same?

You are a clown and people like you will always blame others for your failures. If they conduct online interviews, its the same you that would have network failure, poor camera, low battery, noisy environment or no data.

Even if they conduct online interviews and finally employ you, you will also ask them to give you transport fare and clothes to resume work with.

If you aint reading for physical interviews then its safer you apply for jobs within your immediate environment.

No doubt the world is revolving but they also have to put into consideration the society we live in. What of other applicants who do not have a laptop or internet enabled phones? We would still complain if they get kicked out because of that.

It's the height of insénsitivity by employers or recruiters..

Asking all applicants wherever you reside in Nigeria to converge in Lagos because say dem dey find Job.. then tell them you would get back after an exhaustive day, without even a token to support their transportation.

The more sensible thing to do is to conduct the Interview by Zones... Northern Applicants can use Abuja while Southerners use Lagos..

Or better still, use Zoom to conduct the first interviews while those that you desire for the second round can converge at any of the zones above..

Some of those questions you gather people by Invitation to ask can be asked via Zoom.. you can measure a person's level of intelligence, experience and communication skills if you interact with them for just 5minutes via Zoom. It saves you time and stress and that of the recruiters as well, and you would be able to even interact with more prospective recruits.

Recruiters can do better. I heard some of them do these things for fun tho. They say it makes those already on the job to sit up.
Most business owned by the older generation wants to see you in person.

So I should waste about 10k to Lagos to and fro just for the first stage of an interview.

How did they get the email sent? I think in such situation the recruiter should reach out to the applicant and request if they have a laptop or an internet enabled phone which will then determine the next line of action. What do you want to ask in person that cannot be asked virtually. Let try and change as modern technology has made things easier.

This is not true. 5 million naira office in Wuse zone 5 ShopRite does not exist. 5 million naira office can not have a small window like a poultry. My naija people no dey carry last for adding salt to conversations. A 5 million office space around where the ShopRite is in Wuse zone 5 will be a duplex (full duplex). If it's in a plaza, it should be a large space. I can now agree that many Nigeria youths are hugely unemployable. If I don't like what is being pushed to me by a company, I simply ignore and move forward. The day you start your own business and start employing, then you will know that Human resources is one factor that can shut you down. When you employ someone today and after you have spent so much to bring the person in, he resigns the next month and you are back to head hunt and the circle continue
You should also guard yourself by including a 5% refundable deduction of the monthly salary upon tendering their resignation they get the 5% deducted.

Your response is rude and unprofessional. I doubt you fit into corporate work. You should be selling "fan belt" at Ladipo. Even that one, you still need some tact. Something you lack.

You saw the location before application. Sales jobs are for people in that locality as understanding of the terrain is vital.

You could have politely asked for the option of a virtual interview. If they oblige, lucky you. If not, you move on.

Lastly, sales jobs are hard. Sales of insurance is something else. Nigerians do not buy insurance. We cover with the blood of Jesus. So you can let this one go, but don't behave this way again.

an important part of an interview is seeing the candidate in person and gauging him/her.
especially for client facing roles

you cant see these things over an internet connection, especially when you are dealing with strangers you have never met before and who are not recommended by anyone

the other day i called a candidate and the guy was saying yeah yeah yeah. i was thoroughly irritated and i cut off the call immediately.

the role would be in a client head office. that is how the guy would be saying yeah yeah yeah to the ceo and ogas at the top

Lol. You probably don't know where you are talking about. I can tell you a brief history of where you are talking about and also give you an update to date details of the place as at 30 minutes ago and also described every building surrounding the ShopRite . None of the office spaces in the ShopRite wise zone 5 is large enough to charge 5m per annum. The co-working spaces there are also not charging this amount. The halls there are for larger events and charges per hour.

Some people self, you're in a country where 80% of graduates are unemployed and you're here making unnecessary demands.

You are right 80% are unemployed because they are unemployable and has nothing to offer any employee, if you have something to offer employers then you can reject offer and speak rudely to wicked and inconsiderate employers.

Rather it is your type who has made those useless employers acting like some demigod. I have rejected countless jobs in this manner as a matter of fact before i attend your interview if it is not visual you have to tell me the amount you are willing to pay and the duration of the job. I have told a recruiter to fvckoff before because he awanted to pay peanut salary of less than N500K.

You really need to cure yourself of the virus if you belive those employers are some demigod. i bet you will only feel this way if you have nothing to offer the employers.you think the employer love to employ you, or you think he is running some form of charity with his company, so please do away with this stoneage mentality.

Offer letter for how much salary na. It is not by receiving peanut offer. Any employer who ask me to come for a physical interview anywhere i will just tell you where i am and remind you that you will definitely re-emburse transport to me at least. I started doing that after one usless company invited me all the way from port harcourt to Ikoyi Lagos. i took flight and chartered taxi from the airport down there and i found out that the company is in one rented building there in Ikoyi i was already boiling, when i was been interview the useless MD wanted me to do a business bidding for a contract the are planning to apply for, after i knew i have been used ontop my hard earned money, i insulted the living day light out of the MD and all the usless boys he was using to do his useless bidding and warned them never to ever call my number again. this incident happened in 2019.

They do virtual interviews for "non serious jobs" like waitressing or retail in the UK.

But for serious jobs like a Doctor or nurse, they need to see you in person.

I kind of see where OP is coming from but he could have been less crass. Virtual interviews save time.

When I was applying for jobs in my days, I made sure I know every bit about the company, their worth and their capacity. You didn't do your home work before applying for a job. It's not your right to decide if a company reimburse you for a job that may not even be yours eventually.

I simply don't know how people apply for jobs these days without knowing whether the company will pay for their transportation to'n'fro.

What is bad is bad. We must collectively condemn the OP attitude. If he can't attend the interview, he shouldn't have applied for such job in the first place. And at best, he should have just ignored the email.

This kind of person will send similar message to foreign potential employers and they will come to the generalisation that Nigerians are rude.

It's his attitude that's totally wrong. We know things are not easy everywhere, but throwing your frustration everywhere will only cause more damage than imagined.
