Hello everyone

Proof of financial support: Am I meant to upload only my statement of account or I’m meant to attach it with my employment letter, payslip and property?
Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Jeboy(m): 7:15pm On Aug 08
My spouse enrolled in a 2 year Diploma course and end of this month will be a year since our separation.

From what I hear now, you must be have been separated from your College spouse at least a year before IRCC can positively consider your spousal or family visit.

I will advise those whose spouse are running a year course to only apply to attend graduation as this one year requirements has badly affected spouse looking to join students with one year course except special cases where children are involved.

It's a common misconception that you need to be separated for a year before IRCC considers spousal or family visit applications. In reality, IRCC does not require spouses to be apart for a specific period before reuniting. It's a visitor visa, and you need to prove that you will return to your home country after your visit since you're not entitled to a Spousal Open Work Permit (SOWP). However, I am more concerned about spouses coming for a 1-year program without a solid plan for a PR (Permanent Residence) route. A 1-year course will only get you a 1-year Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), and if you get a job offer, your spouse can also get an open work permit for 1 year. But 1 year goes by fast, and what’s next for the couples? Many are getting stranded now or looking for an LMIA, which is extremely expensive. To get PR, you will still need to return to the Express Entry pool, where factors like your age, provincial nomination, work experience, and IELTS scores will matter.
Education in canada is not cheap, and for a couple to spend over 20,000 CAD in tution with cost of living and still struggle to get PR after the program or face enrolling in another 1-year program just to complete 1 + 1 to get a 3-year PGWP is daunting. The path to PR is becoming increasingly challenging these days

This advise is gotten from a seasoned immigration consultant. The IRCC keep changing the marking score just to reduce people they will give the visa.

The reason is why would you a spouse be in a rush to go and visit a spouse student that will just be away for 1 year study? Have they not factored out the challenge before one of them agreed to embark on the study journey? They are beginning to detect that the emphasis of missing my spouse we put up as reason to apply for visa is just an emotional blackmail.

On the other hand, everyone loves to do a 2 year course but you also know that it has to do with funds. The cheapest 2 year course will cost nothing less than 25k CAD tuition which is about 30m Naira plus 2 years living expense that should cost another N30m to N40m thats a total of N60m to N70m approx.....thats no be beans oh. New Brunswick and some province still offer PR pathways for a year course via Fed Express Entry + Student Connection.

The lawyer's suggestion may be correct. IRCC currently tends to control temporary immigration closely, especially regarding visitor visas. They are aware that some applications may be more about securing a visa than genuinely needing to visit a spouse. People need to research well before choosing a course or province, especially Ontario, which hosts the largest population of international students in Canada but does not offer many PR pathways, except for the Ontario Master's Stream, which is a 2-year program and only available if you graduate from selected universities in Ontario, which can be expensive. Many 1-year diploma students in Ontario end up either pursuing another program or moving to another province. IRCC is also looking to close the loophole of changing courses or schools within Canada to apply for a new visa each time you switch programs. Studying in Canada is not for the weak!

Woooow beautiful. Thanks so so much for your swift response, someone told me I have to be away from my husband for 3 years before he can apply to come meet me, that is I would have finished my diploma program and applied for pgwp before my husband can apply and my husband, even myself can't stay away from my husband for 3 years, so I couldn't continue. But thanks as this is helpful.

Perfect, you hit the nail on the end.

My guy wanted his family to apply for visit after he left 3 months ago but his immigration consultant advised him against it. He said they should wait till when it's graduation time or he should do another one year college or Masters course before asking them to apply. These things are very real my people. Our fellow country men have portrayed us in bad image and even the few genuine intentions to travel are treated as deceits by VOs. Also, they know that most of our applications have japaing intentions underneath so they need to include measures to curb it.

As I've read on this platform, passport submission can be made anywhere you are in the world, regardless of where the biometrics is being taken. I hope someone else can justify that for you. And no additional fee involved, only when using a courier service which you'll book and pay for by yourself.

Re: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Jeboy(m): 1:45pm On Aug 09
But note that if you come as a visitor, you can only stay maximum of 6 months per time or subject to the date the CBSA guys at the Port of entry stamp in your visa.

You are only guaranteed long stay to the extent of your spouse if you come with SOWP and your PoF must match the period of staying.

So in your own case, even if your hubby comes he must leave before the max of 6 months duration or a shorter time if CBSA cut it down. Though there are rooms for visit extension but it should not be encouraged.

He means he has to leave. Tell me how many couples can leave their spouse after that kind enjoyment stay. It can only lead to frustration and short cut attempt reason people advise you wait until almost graduation so the student spouse can get PGWP and can apply for SOWP for their spouse if they have a full time job. Na the koko be that.

Personally, I would rather upload other important documents to proof home tie due to limited space than a police certificate, as visa officers rarely rely on it when making decisions. Besides, only someone with something to hide would feel the need to prove their innocence when it hasn’t been requested.

I upload everything and like to give extra documents where appropriate. I don't make it mandatory though. I even upload letters from the church saying my client is in the Choir, a volunteer position and from community leaders.
