The Onne Multipurpose Terminal (OMT) says it has received the “largest container ship ever” to carry out full operations at Nigeria’s eastern ports.

The vessel christened ‘Kota Cempaka’, owned by Pacific International Lines (PIL), is 300 metres long, and can carry 6,600 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containers.

According to Jim Stewart, chief operating officer (CEO) at OMT, this is the second visit of the ship to the terminal in three months.

Stewart said the vessel was received on August 5 by the officials of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and OMT.

He said the ship’s first visit to the port was on April 27 when it loaded and discharged over 2,000 containers full of Nigerian imports and exports.

“The arrival of such large vessels is part of a global trend where shipping lines are upscaling vessel sizes to achieve economies of scale and reduce transport costs for importers and exporters,” Stewart said.

Stewart said the visit of the Kota Cempaka to Nigeria would support the efforts of the federal government to diversify the country’s economic base by boosting non-oil exports.

Those Magi from the East have always used "No working port in the South and East" as an excuse to travel 20000 kilometers from East to Lagos to come reside in their large numbers

Now there is a functioning one in Delta, that state shares its boundary with Anambra and some of the locals even speak Igbo

Time travellers should show us pepper by mass relocating back to the East and ensure Lagos economy retrogresses by 50%(at least, that has being their claims before now)

The easiest way to depopulate the almighty Lagos and leave Lagos for Yorubas, is when we the easterners can import things through Eastern ports.

What have you ever imported since you were born ?
Do you even have money to feed yourself talkless of delving into business

Do you even have a stake in Lagos aside the usual "Lagos is Yoruba land" bullshit ?

All the cellphones you and your family members are using today, is it your broke Baale or Oba that imported them from China and UK?

Abeg, whats your economic value to Lagos ?

Slot Phones, one of the biggest and most popular phones market in Lagos and all around the country is owned by Igbo man and all the phones gadgets sold there were imported through the air and sea ports.

UK Used phones some of your brokies relatives use are imported from UK and China by the Igbos.

The Building materials
that people use to build houses 🏘️ falls from heaven abi?

Innoson motors imports all his car parts from abroad and they all come into the country through the sea ⛵

Most of the home appliances you use in your little house were all imported by the good people of south east from China and Europe and this things comes through the sea port .

Why are you hating on the Igbos ?
Is it the Igbo mans fault that you have no economic value to yourself and your state ?

Can you even run a successful business ?

Is it not because you have no economic value that make some of you sell your land and houses to the Igbos when you go broke and hopeless ?

always give Igbos their flowers 🌹💐💐💐 please

You’ve been “depopulating” Lagos since the elections but Lagos and the SW keeps getting more prosperous while the places you’ve been populating have been getting poorer and more insecure

Later they will say no port in the East is working

Enugu Airport is an international airport but poverty in the region has made it have low traffic

The ships berthing are targeting construction and oil and gas and once again the so called importers that claim to import even the air we breathe but contribute less than 15% of imports by value will be ranting under this post

Let me remind you that Igbo land has hundreds of trillions of cubic feet of gas.
This means that Igboland will be in the world's top 10 countries with the largest gas reserves.
Yorubaland is not even in the top 100 of the same list.

I know this information is causing you massive pain.

Igbo is your fada, Ighotago

There is nothing like Eastern ports They are South South ports
There is nothing like Easterner
There are Iboes who have no ports of their own

And the SS people

It is not automatic that they welcome Iboes as you assume with an arrogant sense of entitlement

Who hates on his Inferior?

Why would i hate on a group that depends on me for survival?

A group I gave a thriving business environment, A large customer base and even allowed you to acculturate into my society. In fact, its people need to take my name and learn my language to be widely accepted

A group that has its largest population away from home in my base despite not sharing no geo-boundaries whatsoever with me.

Same group i care so less about that i hardly move there in my tens.

Is that the same group I will hate on? Its like say the U.S is hating on Trinidad cheesy

As for the other illogical assumptions u made, I once advocated that all Prof of logic in all Eastern Uni should be sacked as its 100% glaring that most of u have deformed logical reasoning

Hopefully, Onne port will help decongest the Lagos ports and make the prices of imported goods cheaper due to reduced cost of transportation.
